I've drafted Demonic Summoning 6 times. I've won with it 5 times. It wins you lane and it lets you farm fast in the jungle.
I like Malefice because if its in the pool it also means that black hole is in the pool and once the malefice is on you you basically can’t cast black hole for the duration
Ooooh this is the kind of dota content I wanna see 👀
cool cool cool i like that you guys are doing this. i value some things differently, but i think everyone kinda does. hopefully you can finish the list before the new patch.
I don’t play AD. Chemical rage gives greevil’s greed? What?
That's correct! The interaction is (I would imagine) not intended. Alchemist himself (the hero model innately) also has it.
This vid inspired me to queue for Ability Draft ... and play a stock Earth Spirit!
Joel: I promise, if you do that, your team won’t be laughing like we were.
@@HWPAbilityDraft its ok bro trust I am a 19k MMR earth spirit

Unironically hyped for what you guys have to say about nether swap next episode. I've been picking it 3rd/4th but it feels like it should be instapick for how well its been working for me.
Definitely super skill dependant. But very good, even with rando teammates
In the context of this tierlist you could make an argument for Meat Hook being instapick, because that's what generally happens with it regardless of it's actual power. Also you say don't pick meta on int heroes, but one of the most oppressive builds I've ever had was meta and flesh golem with conjure image on DP. It'd have been better with another hero model, but I feel like that much range, bonus damage, and base attack time reduction can make any ranged hero scale. I'm going to pretty strongly disagree with Mirror Image going any lower than 2-3. You can have 0 ability pairings with this and still get high value out of it with the right hero model. Most universal heroes, especially ranged ones, can become powerful carries with this spell alone just through their sheer damage gain from building mad stats. It's also a good farming tool, the dispel as you mentioned, and hell if you are good you can even use the invulnerability to dodge predictable spells in lane. I have first picked this ability on universal heroes and absolutely dominated with it, even when having 0 manaburn-esque synergies, just from the sheer damage you can do. It's even a potent lane dominating ability if you do get it on a ranged universal hero, or a high stat ranged agi hero. I would put this spell at about the same rank as juxtapose, since it's not as powerful in a fight but can be used more creatively and for farming and laning purposes.
Really love the video!!!!
Thanks @Bonedog5130, We appreciate your support.
Meat Hook? Picks 1-2, mid-section, not a chance it's higher than that
Old mystic snake absolutely used to steal mana btw. You're not crazy.
That hook rating is downright misinformation lol 😭 But by all means. Pull the enemy ES with aftershock quillspray into our team.
yo just got this video recommended while being high af, this stuff is wild entertaining. Might play an AD rn, last time i played it was maybe 2015
Cannabis + AD go together like peanut butter and chocolate
any way to see the full list at the end?
The new last word is quite good with the skywrath silence given how long it lasts and the magic amp, works well for a pickoff-centric pos 4 build with vessel and other sources of dot
Sweet vids, it's fun seeing AD content like this. I've seen Liquid Fire perform pretty well in my games. It farms pretty hard when maxed. I've usually seen it work well on melee heroes who really benefit from being able to pop people from medium range with an occasional attack.
Lightning bolt's gotta be around chaos bolt at the least. Liquid Fire is also massively underrated. Free stuff is inherently strong. As long as your build attacks Liquid Fire is always worth it. It's AOE so it helps with farming. It's got an attack speed slow so it makes you win nearly every 1v1 duel. It's got tower damage so you're guaranteed to be a threat that must be dealt with. The benefits are too numerous. It really should be in upper 2-3. Maybe even 1-2.
Having an image showing which ability you are currently ranking is quite helpful. A part of me wants to say Life Drain should be even higher, cause it is a crazy strong ability on paper between its low cd, strong sustain, solid damage, and post 6 lane winning potential, but I've had a bit of trouble in game actually making it work as well as it does on paper. Even comboing with a stun it feels like enemies often are able to just walk away, and honestly I feel like it really wants to combo with decrep. That being said, you can also use it as a pretty crazy heal (something i never bother with) so it's an insanely versatile ability.
It was pretty interesting seeing your subjective takes on a lot of abilities! I think it would be more interesting if you started by putting each ability in tiers based on it's win percentage or pick order, and then afterwards you drag around the abilities you don't think the numbers accurately represent.
Joel: Thanks for your comment @tinymarshable. We plan on doing similar to what you are describing by analyzing Windrun statistics and talking about them! Look forward to that video in the future🤩!
You ranked liquid fire ASTOUDINGLY LOW. It's a 53.4% win rate ability drafted 13th on average. It deserves to be middle of 1-2, not situational.... Also, coup is way overrated as well. it's one of the lowest win rate abilities in the game.
"Current Ability" is a very good addition Another banger these guys don't miss
Joel: We ❤️ you @jackmccarthy7644
katana&kai is glitched and doesnt work unless on kez
Falcon rush is first phase first pickable on a lot of hero bodies, imo. It combos incredibly well with any attack modfier, and even on its own it's just really good. BAT change on any strength hero is ludicrous.
Joel: we have had some more experience with Falcon rush since this video and I agree on some models it seems nutty(first pickable). It unlocks some new combos with modifiers for stacks/quick kills. Ty for your comment @itypesmiling
Awesome
WHAAAAAAT!!! Not 3 hours long??!?!?!?
Joel: We are trying to do more frequent shorter form content. It should be the same amount of content!
New layout is much better for people that is just listening and glancing!
Is this ranking based on when it should be picked or where it gets picked? There's a ton going on here, but for example finger is a truly terrible pick outside of some niche combos yet is consistently first round. What rank is this based on?
Finger.. terrible pick.. What?! It's a great ultimate!
I'd put infernal blade at first pick / deny pick above black hole (which I think you guys massively overrate, long cooldown teamfight ult that is easily interrupted is kinda meh, if you're gonna say "but you can still use it on 1 guy" then you should swap its place with fiends grip because that's just a way better blackhole then) and atrophy aura. Shit's absolutely cracked on any ranged hero. Even a support can make great use of it. The damage is crazy at any point in the game and the cooldown is soooo low. Once you've got it at level 3 the enemy just cannot lane against you anymore. And it also mini-stuns so you can easily interrupt channels with it. Honestly I might even put it at insta-pick tier. I do think it's better than fury swipes and most heroes for sure.
RP>Blackhole
Next episode when?? I'm addicted
Music is a little too loud compared to your voices.
The reason why defensive passives like dispersion have such a high winrate is because you don't have to do anything to make them work.
Personally I think channeled abilities always are a little worse than they seem because channeling is counter synergy with attacking and mobility and casting other spells.
Wth is this disruption rating? You ALWAYS pick a stun over it and it's not even that much different from astral, arguably even worse, illusions don't do THAT much You overrated fortune's end too. It's low 2-4 under a lot of stuns
WHAT! There is no way coup de grace is that high. It should be like mid 2-4 pick. There's no universe where you first pick coup de grace. You want to have at least 1 god tier carry ability or 2 good carry abilities. And even then there's usually a better ult.
Astral spirit's gotta be 1-2. It's just too good on any right clicker. The only reasons not to pick it is because there's something better (but there aren't many better picks) or because you're shit at micro (like me).
I haven't played AD in a while because I kinda don't like how facets and innates work in AD. Have there been any changes?
I also think that any ability that you can delay leveling early and is just good in the late game is very solid. Midnight pulse is a classic example. A very respectable 3rd/4th pick. You skip leveling it early and then in the late game you have a pretty solid nuke.
I love how you guys ask for stats to be pulled up, but it's only for you not for us XD
Lot of kekpipers here
This is a really entertaining and interesting video to watch! Looking forward to more content from you guys. I don't play a lot of AD but it's always fun to hear about the unique combos and meta. Its a small inconvenience but I think the video would be much more easier to follow if the ability currently being discussed was always visible on screen.
I feel like they might have accidentally locked the recording to to tiermaker list, because they talk about hover over stuff, like they want to show info but nothing can be seen
Not gonna spend all day nitpicking ya but the biggest overrate are jinda+geminate those spells are no good not worth picking even, and biggest under rate is blink strike that spell enables so many others and is a a top tier fighting tool
Great cleave first pick haha WHAT, you people are literally trolling by this point, Heartstopper aura is literally trash and homing missile that low? Lmao what? It's literally picked first round 99% of the games, Infernal Blade is 100% first pick, like 100 fucking % first pick, and is absolute highest tier first pick, like it should be the first/best spell in the first pick range, above aftershock, period.
Joel Here, Thanks for adding to the discussion, we are reviewing all comments in a review video in the future. Unless there are no stuns in the lobby homes usually goes to the 2-3 round. This is reflected in its avg pic rate of 17.
@@HWPAbilityDraft I personally enjoy picking homing missile because it forces your enemy to deny rocket barrage if they dont want to deal with the shard. I wouldn't exactly pick it over something like black hole or stormhammer but i would pick it over chaos bolt when presented with the option. (Of course i am not suggesting that my opinion is the right one or that i am even remotely good at the game)
Heartstopper can't be trash because it's free damage. Any effect that's 100% requires no input on your part basically has to be at least 2-4 tier unless it's completely negligible and you're just wrong if you think heartstopper is negligible. If you actually do the math heartstopper deals way more damage than most nukes over the course of the game. It absolutely deserves a 3-4th pick on any tanky dude who wants to be in the center of a fight. You could even justify it on other builds if what's left doesn't synergize with your abilities and gameplan. Another strength of hearstopper is that it doesn't require you to make changes in your plans to accommodate it. If you're like an Night Stalker with trample, uproar, stampede or something you'd absolutely pick heartstopper over crypt swarm. Making crypt swarm work would require you to make the rest of your build worse by buying mana and maxing it first. Heartstopper requires no particular item purchases, and can easily be delayed till you've maxed out all your other spells. Crypswarm will also require that you stop your game plan of running over people to cast it. Heartstopper requires nothing from you.
With Howl, you can spam it at night and you can pick up plenty of assist gold.
Holy pursuasion is pretty good as a last pick on a beefy pos 3. You can use the creeps to lock someone down as you wail on them and knock down some early t2s. Had it worked on a Chaos Knight before.
I agree with most of your picks, but some of them I find a bit questionable. The main ones I find questionable are: 1. You are overvaluing Coup (pronounced coo) by a large amount. It's one of the lowest win rate abilities in the game. A single point in blade dance is a bigger dps increase than a single point in coup. 2. I find it crazy you value feral impulse so highly when compared with Devour. WIth the correct creep consumed, devour and feral impulse are nearly identical abilities, with devour providing a bigger damage bonus, a sizable GPM boost, and more utility. 3. Black hole doesn't deserve to be first pick/deny territory imo.
Yeah that Coup rating is crazy. Coup should be a third pick the majority of games. Wasting an ult slot on a crit that's like worse than most non-ult crits is crazy. If there's any other crit in the draft you should pick it over Coup 99% of the time. Coup should also just NEVER be first picked. There's always something better than it. And it should only ever be second picked if there are like 2 carry heroes in the game and you already have the good carry abilities from the other one and Coup's all that's left. To add insult to injury, coup shard is utter garbage if you're a ranged hero. Also wild that they put coup over Fervor. Fervor is like waaaay better than coup.
On a conceptual level I disagree with Holy Persuasion being in griefing tier. I've never picked it or seen it picked, because who wants to play a micro support in AD, but that's the ability that makes Chen and Chen is a strong hero in the right hands. Even if AD is generally not the best environment for coordinating a zoo deathball with your team, the skill at least gives you the option of going for it if you can coordinate, and even without that it's a support ability that is both a good laning tool and lets you farm, or split push or gank other lanes if you are an actual Chen player. It requires a good Chen player, and I can count on my fingers how many of those I've run into in my 12 years of playing dota, but that's on the player not the ability. Put it in the hands of the guy who made a 20+ page google doc on the intricacies of the spell and I don't think it'd look like griefing anymore.
Joel Here, I think you second sentence sums up the grieving tier we gave Holy Persuasion. I would kind of say its like spirit bear, It can be very good But no one wants to play with it and it isn't easy you have to sweat. Hope you enjoyed the vid!
finally i was worried it wasn't going to be finished! great video the insights are really spot on while watching your video, i drafted a gyrocopter (in pick order) with flak cannon, acorn shot, exorcism, and uproar thanks to your guidance and went 25/5 thanks!
Joel Here, This made us all very happy to read!!! Great work on the Gyro, we will hopefully que with you sometime soon.
Hell yes!!!
Thanks @jackmccarthy7644
You guys should make a top hero models in AD
It's on their plans, they said.
Joel here, My homie @PombaoDumau is on it. Thanks for letting him know!
Kinda pointless considering you're not picking them
