Teaser off the Trail

Here's a little reel I wrote for my friend Sadie, whose escapades with her horse, Teaser, inspired this tune.
A beautiful Irish song.

Just a little song I was brave enough to film after some dental work. I know you will all love my voice... Inspired by the artistic camera work in ruclips.net/video/MUopoQkrn4w/видео.html&feature=PlayList&p=59DFF822584CC3C5&index=12

A couple reels. I haven't played reels in a while, so I'm feeling a little starved. After playing these this evening, I thought they sounded good enough to go up here. The first reel is pretty common, I can't remember where I first learned it. The second is an Altan tune. You can see it played by the masters here. ruclips.net/video/B8hGZLcV1CM/видео.html&feature=PlayList&p=59DFF822584CC3C5&index=3

Pardon the earphones, I was trying to kill several birds with one stone. I had things downloading and was recording myself on three different programs! These are a couple cute tunes I got from thesession.org this week.

A video from the Comhaltas live series. The tunes are Moving Cloud/Jean's Reel. Orlaith is a VERY talented flute and whistle player from London. She has numerous All Ireland titles, and is just a lovely person to boot. Additionally, I have the honour of being her friend :-)

I'm dead tired, but the household is wide awake and hindering any slumber on my part. Since I'm not conscious enough to do anything else, I thought I'd post a few tunes. Therefore, an alternate title could be, the effects of exhaustion on whistle playing. Actually, I think it turned out pretty well.
McEvoy's Reel/ Sligo Maid

The first reel I learned from Laurence Nugent and I assume it was written by Roscommon flute player Catherine McEvoy. It's a really fun tune. The second is the popular session tune, a version that is a combination of Donegal fiddler Theresa Kavanagh and my own personal twist. Of course, I play both too fast ;-)
The pleasures of hope

A tune from the album by Alan and John Kelly. This may be the hornpipe I play in the Fleadh. Please give me comments, for it's my first year with a hornpipe, and I want to improve.

Just figured out how to use the camera on my Mac. YEAH! The computer's microphone has better sound quality, so I have no excuse for bad playing now ;-) Note my little Daniel's entrance into the room near the end of the video.
John Brosnan's / Fred Finn's

A couple of reels. My particular version of Fred Finn's I got from June McCormack. Sorry about the sound quality, still working on it.

Please have mercy, my first video. I know it's a little fast... I know the ending stinks...I know the telephone rather interrupted things, but I'm just glad to finally have this up!!!
Yeh ..land on that unexpected note...
❤️🥰
Brava!
Ridiculous good
Amazing flute and whistle player
Wow 😳 awesome 👏. Great
Twas all of that.
Put Tansey, Molloy,Guihen and Hanley into a pot , mix them well and what do you get...............it begins with O.
Flute maker ? Sounds terrific 🎼
I want to say she plays a Hammy Hamilton.
so lovely xo
Lovely !
Wow! This is awesome!! :)
Holy crows, it's amazing what a skilled musician can do on an instrument with only six holes on it ...
I like the way you're thinking.
Sorry 7 holes in it
Just returning to this one. I never realised how incredible she is. Amazing!
Sorry Matt Molloy fans but I prefer Orlaith's version of The Moving Cloud. There's more, fore want of a better word, flavour in the phrasing.
There's a totally different flavor for both of the players I've noticed over the last year and a half of trad playing. I see Orlaith's playing as incredibly measured and precise where Molloy's playing seems more explosive or unpredictable, especially with his octave jumping and his breakneck tempo building.
Brilliant
Hey sexy will you marry me?
She's mine.
<3 Orlaith McAuliffe is too amazing! <3
@johnkeppel90 Some tosser who's learning the flute but has an extra thumb firmly implanted uncomfortably close to brain.
this is amazing!
amazing.
Heath75032: You are listening with your ears.
Fine playing! Where/who did you get John Brosnan's from? Can you give us any details about the tune or the man? Thx
At last someone who can play the blue print notes to this session tune.
o_O How do you play so fast??!!! That's so cool!!
Sooo pretty!!!! :)
Great! Can you do Skye boat song?
Wow amazing! I love the little flourishes you have in there ;)
absolutly pefect!!!
absolutly unbelievable. and the crans are class,, brilliant
What are Crans
Very well done! I absolutely love the second tune!
you can get the notes for almost any tune by googling. hit the Images item on the menu bar than search. On a tune like "the curlew" put "the curlew reel" to avoid getting only images of birds.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't play like you do!! I hate it when younguns are better than me. So the following point of criticism probaby springs from jealousy on my part. There is no swing! Maybe if you had some persussion or a guitar accompaniment it would have that swing thing that I think I'm talking about. Or just stomp your foot on a wooden box or something.
Dang...you are a MACHINE.
Thank you so much for the sheet music. I uploaded a quick video of me playing it (although I cannot play as good as you, you're amazing). Check it out! Greetings!
I love Irish music and Scottish music and found that it was a new thing for me to enjoy share and see live the few times I got to see it.
That tune sounds like a lot of fun!! Do you have the sheet music for it? Awesome performance. 5 stars.
Great! Nice reel, and great technique
HAHA... you look so flikin irish.... :P
LAUREN! omg... I just randomly found ya on here... lovely chunes there! :D ..... miss u :( how the hark are ya? XOXO ~Mary~ (you know the kid from the fleadh that followed you around :P) just go to my youtube....hehe
wait.... THERES the monaghan twig, good job on that part
WOW!
That is an amazing performance. How long have you played the whistle?
You'd best be gettin' in line ;)
Awsome ^^
Wonderful! I like your foot tapping, too - it made it sound like a drum beat.
You go Crazy Kim! Wow! Makes me wanna dance
Sounds nice, I was in the fleadh ceoil of County Galway and I didn't listen many hornpipes. I think is good idea if you play that one. You play very well, thank you for the tunes!
Wow. Just gorgeous. You should be pulling down some good bucks for your playing.
Amazing playing. I hope you'll teach your little Daniel to play too.
