Nice Board! Was it Christenson that coined the name Glider? Skip Frye and other San Diego guys call them Big Boards.
What fin ( size ) do you ride...??? Thanks
Ive noticed at MALIBU they ride a NR type board with more NOSE ROCKER than usual and do everything quite well . A friends SOURCE NR (10-0)had a bit more NOSE ROCKER and was and amazing board ... See "Nose Ride of the Day" on RUclips/ Rene ...8 years ago here in Santa Cruz . I have a Matt shaped BING NR 9-9 .... With all that tail rocker I love too !
Excellent Surfing
Great board. I have a 9’10 that trims and turns like a champ at NCSD reefs.
I absolutely loved the “Elevator” in o’side beach-break waves. Now I have Izzy type II and love it too! This new Aussie board has me intrigued!
mue picoso a wevo
I worked as a laminator at the G & S factory in San Diego in the late 70's, when Bing shifted production down there. I was tasked with glassing a 9'10 Bing gun that Eaton had shaped for big wave rider who got this custom made for Waimea . Eaton was a legend, a master shaper and one of the coolest human beings ever to walk the planet. It was about four inches thick, hard downfalls and a total beast of a board. As I started laying the lap lines Eaton came in, grinned real big and said, "Triple 8 ounce! Top and bottom! Mike said to make it as heavy as possible so it'll PLUMMET down the face." Can't remember big wave rider Mike's last name---he was a big bearded ropey hulk of a man---but he was thrilled when he picked up the board and it weighed about 40 pounds. It was a pleasant diversion from all those fussy team riders complaining about weight and asking for single 4 ounce cloth top and bottom to allow a super light board.
that was little joe from the ponderosa yeeeww!!
You are smooth, Brother!
💯🤙🤙
"Think Bing" stopped me in my tracks, I will never forget my buddy Jason in Santa Barbara freaking out he found a Bing bonzer at a garage sale down the street. The wife had it on display. He went home and got permission from his wife to purchase the 7' 2" faded brown gem. When he returned with the cash the boards true owner "her husband" was like not way! My buddy came home empty handed that day, So close, he had said. A few days or weeks later, the man appeared and told Jason if you ride it, you can have it. Jason was reignited with his love of the sport because of that surfboard. And it inspired his younger brother to take the board to San Diego and find someone to remake the board. Now His brother Jon jas a new high performance version as well.
Nice!! I've been a longboarder for over 30 years. Used to live and farm on a kibbutz. I see myself retiring there in a few years. Am Yisrael Chai!
Love

Legendary❤!!
In 1970ish.I went in to Bing and had Mike Eaton shappe me a 7' 4" round pin for Trestles in mind. We had to walk in from the School past Nixons house & if you made it without the Army not spotting us, we surfed all day.Nobody out. Just dreamy. Thanks Mike, that board went great. 👍
This was insanely rad thank you all that were involved in this project
Mad respect to the founders and your ability to Stewart such a jewel and speaks to all of you alls character! Love me some Bing!!!!
sick!!
Absolutely superb. Great to see all this wonderful surfing culture captured on film. Everyone should surf a Bing.
Thank you for keeping alive that part of history, it is often said you have to know what we were and rode to know where we are going... Just a surfer
Just picked up a gorgeous orange 7'0 slalom and of course its been flat 😢 can't wait for these nor easters to come slashin
How’s the board been? Are you enjoying it?
@lukebeange769 absolutely loving it but I crunched one of the quad fin boxes on the sandbar when the tide got low. I'm having it fixed right now so I've been riding my other boards. I can't wait to get it back because I absolutely love it. Single fin for the softer breaks and quad when its fast and hollow, this thing doesn't let me down.
Iconic brand. Rode a 8’6” bonzer longboard for my first modern longboard, shaped by Legend Mike Eaton who I first met on the North Shore of Hawai
Definitely a heavy team
congats! great history, great story! had a 9'0 Bing with a Hackman "speed fin" once upon a time...
On my way to purchase a California Square from my local shop. I have an old house branded surfboard (Raven out of Seaside, OR. shaped by Matt. 🤙🏽
I have a bing 5-6, it’s a beautiful little thing, I still give it a go on occasion 😂. Thanks for being awesome 🖤🍭🫶😎

I'm not a surfer but this film really moved me. Great storytelling and visual aesthetics.
