You lifted areas of colour by peeling them off.. would that not happen to the other areas? There is no chemical bonding other than adhesion .. micro mechanical adhesion.. really admire your technique and materials used ..thank you for sharing your knowledge..

Awesome video and information, thank you!! Regarding synthetics and dying fringe. I'm confused. You were dying the fringe with the fabric dye, but isn't chainette fringe always polyester? (I've looked for other fibers, and didn't find them). Is there something about the chainette weaving that allows other dyes? Thank you in advance!! 🤞🤞👍🙏🙏. Oh I would so love to have a young person like yourself to restore my grandmother, then mother's, antique sewing machine. I am now older and disabled and cannot do such work anymore myself. It is something I treasure greatly and what I learned to sew on. My own clothes had been made on this machine as had my grandmother and mother's. Mom even made all my doll clothes on this machine. But getting back to the sewing machine, I think like yours, it would work again with some deep cleaning and oiling. I think it was working still when we stopped using it and it simply was a piece of pretty furniture in my parent's room. It has a few places where the veneer came off, but mother saved it and was going to glue it back on the sewing machine and another piece of furniture we still have. We never got around to it. Mother got to where I had to give her full cares while also working in my career as an RN. Times were difficult and things she really wanted done did not get done. I sure don't know what to do with this piece of family history and wish I could actually use it to sew some curtains with!!! The machine looks so much like yours and it too has the knee peddle. Takes skill and patience to use I recall. It was well taken care of back in the day, but not in decades...Help! Nashville, TN area if anyone could help an old girl out.
