Reading my UCAS Personal Statement - Mathematics/Actuarial Science
Good morning ma, ma I am a Nigerian applying for the think big undergraduate scholarship and I would need ur help in reviewing my essays ma
Did you take IELTS for scholarship? Could you please tell me your marks? ♥️🫶🏻
i totally understand that feeling word for word! been feeling the same, for a looong while now. even i try to remind myself of the privilege i have to be able to have the opportunity of acquiring education whenever things get hard. but i end up feeling guilty for wasting that opportunity and start feeling like an impostor. i deeply understand the feeling of always 'wasting time' whenever we are doing anything but studying :( it's such a harsh feeling especially since, like you, i too enjoy learning but learning for an exam is totally a different (and more stressful experience) and it's so difficult to navigate through such feelings but i hope you know you're not alone! we will make it through somehow some way :) i cam across your channel by watching your vlogs and I think you're such a cool person !! thank you for being here i totally understand the whole taking too much on your plate and saying yes to more things than you can do, so i really really hope you're taking good rest and taking care of yourself too <3 don't worry about being inactive or not finding the time for youtube,, you're in your third year of uni and that's already hectic as it is! so make sure to put yourself first too ⭐
Wow, it’s been two years! Now, I’m watching it as part of my preparation to secure the scholarship. I truly hope you can assist and guide me through this process so I can win it. Studying in the UK means so much to me. Much love ❤❤❤
Does it cover a living expense? Im applying for Postgraduate program
Nope, it doesn't even cover 100% tuition 😅
@nadventures so it's meaningless
Hey I'm an 12th grader in india can you do a step by step video about how to get into nus for accountancy
Hi, I don't think I'll be able to churn out a video before the deadline 😅 But...just apply online through the NUS portal/website. When writing your essays, remember to keep highlighting your interest towards accounting. Also, ensure that you have really good grades :))
@@nadventures thanks 😊😊
thanks for supporting my music... lots of love ❤❤❤
Thank you for your music too!
Hi! This video really helpful me. Can i send my essays to your email and can you check plz?
Hi, I used to allow this, but I don't have the capacity to do so anymore now :(
Hey Nadya! I'm a grade 9 pre-ib student with a 99% average and am interested in the model un. Are there any tips you can provide that could help enhance my skills?
Hey there, I only have one suggestion: just do it! The more conferences you attend and the more prep work you do, the better you will be at it naturally. Just make sure to speak up and actually participate in conferences :))
I am currently writing my personal statement and have only recently realised I want to study actuarial science. Would an accounting work experience and a data analytics competition be okay to mention since they are similar?
Hi, yes they would work. Actuarial science is very math heavy, so generally any math-related experiences are worth mentioning.
74807 Toy Point
hey, my love for math is recent and so I haven't won any olympiads or impressive math achievements. what do I do to make a competitive application
Hmm...that is hard, but you could create something to show that love. Maybe a blog sharing your knowledge, math youtube channel, or free math classes for others. Just anything to show you're really passionate and knowledgeable should do!
Hey :) Actually.. I have some questions related to Nus.. Could it be possible to contact you and get some answers from you?
Feel free to ask your questions here! It'll help other viewers with similar questions :)
@@nadventures Oh well... now I am studying a specialty that I can say is 'almost rare'. It is the specialty of 'nano and nanotechnology'. What I plan to do is move to study abroad after approximately two years. What I currently want is to collect information about the value of this specialty in foreign universities." ". So as a person studying at NUS, have you ever heard of this major at the university? Is it well-known there and has excellent programs, or is it “marginalized” as is the case in other universities, and is it one of the specializations that require high baccalaureate grades for admission? (I think that asking someone who studies at that university and has an insight into the specializations therein is much better, as it is like getting a real and realistic impression.) Thanks in advance❤
@@نعناعه-م6خ For undergraduate, I think NUS only has a minor in nanoscience, which suggests either a lack of interest amongst Singaporeans towards that field or a lack of expertise within the university. Not sure about masters and Phd though. Personally, none of my friends in Faculty of Science are minoring or thinking of minoring in nanoscience.
enjoy your uni life!
Thank you, I'm really am enjoying it haha

Hi, I’m wondering if applying for early decision before November 7 could increase my chances of receiving a scholarship. Do you have some information about it? Thank you in advance
Hi, I don't think Canadian universities gave early decision (at least during my time 😅). Early decisions are usually just for US unis. I don't have any info to be really honest, but I think early decisions only affect admissions, and don't affect scholarships much.

Hi Nadia I'm an applicant for this scholarship 2024/2025 and couldn't hear anything about the outcome of the scholarship, I'm anxious, help me check weather the result was out, they said yesterday and up to now no any news
Hi, sorry, this is not something I can help with. I think you might need to email them.
Hey Nadia, at what time of the day usually, the university informs the students about the scholarship results
Hi, I received it a few hours earlier than the day it was supposed to be announced. Seems like a few people are facing the same issue as you, maybe you can email them?
Has anyone received scholarship email for this year 2024?
I'm about to ask same question ❓.
Not yet
Hi! Thank you so much, this video has been really useful for me while writing. You give a really good basis for the structure and I really needed that. I have one doubt, and it is about use of sources and information. Do I need to investigate concepts or theories, and give a detailed account of them in this? Or is it lax about it and I can just talk from a general point of view? If this is something obvious, I am sorry. But I really need to know.
Hi, I don't really understand your question, so please let me know if my answer makes no sense to you haha I think it depends on what you're using those infos for. If as explanations to support your points, then some kind of detail is needed. If as examples, the can be less detailed as long as your point is conveyed clearly.
@@nadventures answer it. It was badly formulated so thanks for the effort ;) The doubt comes from me having trouble to distinguish between my Philosophy class and ToK. Not because the clases are similar but because of my own personal thoughts on both subjects. So I kind of wondered if I had to work with the same amount of theories as I do in philosophy. For example working with different specific author and such things. Maybe, the question would be, how much of those type of things are needed, if at all? Also, sorry for the intensity 🙇♀️
@@veronicarodriguezg3613 Nope, you don't need to have so many theories. From how I'm seeing it, TOK is about showing how you think, and it does not necessarily involve a lot of theories.
Really love the vibe your essay gives that shows how you see yourself!
Thank you!
hie , thank you for this informative video. Can l please ask how did you answer the question on state how you will fund the rest of your studies .Does it have to be an essay answer or just saying personal savings will be sufficient. I think l made a mistake
Hi, it does not have to be an essay answer. Your answer is completely okay. I think the university just want students to consider how they will fund their studies since the scholarship does not cover 100% tuition fee.
Wow loved this vlog, hopefully, I can study there one day!
Thank you!
Hey!! How long did they take to send you the offer? Thank you!!
Hi, can't remember very well, but I think around 2-3 months
Oh, they actually tell you when the results will be released, and I got it like 1 days earlier than planned
Thank you 😊

'Connotation' and 'subtext' are linguistic jargon, could you explain them in the context of your exhibition ? The reasoning that miscommunication creates beauty is debatable, usual results are misunderstanding, lack of cultural sensitivity, provocation and taking offence.
Hii, honestly can't remember exactly what I was thinking while writing that anymore, buttttt... 1) There isn't any special context/meaning for those two words (i.e. connotation is the literal connotation, it's saying that there's an implied meaning) 2) TOK exhibitions (and essays actually) are not meant to give definite answers. It's the arguments, analysis, and explanations you make that matters, not the conclusion.
@@nadventures Got it.
hello, are spaces part of the character count when writing your essay or calculating the work count. thank you!
Hi, if I remember correctly, spaces don't count
Spaces count now!
thank you so much for this well explained video! I really needed this
Thank you!

Hey Nadiya, thank u for the informative video, if it is possible can I dm u to discuss regarding the scholarship?
Hii, I would prefer continuing the conversation here, but if you really want, feel free to send me an email with your questions :)
Thank you very much, Nadya. I'm curious about whether you receive a tuition grant and what you believe are the criteria for obtaining one (both academically and non-academically). I ask because I'm aiming to attend NTU or NUS (M25, currently doing the IB). I've also watched your other videos and found them very helpful. However, one video where you mentioned feeling heartbroken due to scoring below the median in your math module made me think that your GPA might not be very high. Yet, in another video, you mentioned achieving a GPA between 4.7 and 4.83 when transferring majors, which has left me a bit confused. Could you please explain how the scoring system works?
Hi! I chose to not get a tuition grant due to the 3-year bond that comes with it, but I know I would be able to get it if I choose to. Honestly though, now that I'm in Singapore, I don't think the bond is that bad, because I'm okay with working in Singapore now (it was scary thing for me back then). As for NUS scoring system, the website provides a very good explanation (www.nus.edu.sg/registrar/academic-information-policies/modular-system). I exercised the S/U option for that math module (www.usp.nus.edu.sg/curriculum/academic-structure/satisfactory-unsatisfactory-s-u-options/).
@@nadventures TYSM. Just curious if NUS workload is significantly higher than IB workload, and if so, what is the safe actual IB grade required to guarantee a place into NUS or NTU for engineering-related majors? I've heard that NUS doesn't care about predicted grades.
@@minhanhle2863 Significantly higher workload, I don't think so. However, it depends on how hard you studied during IB and whether you choose to overload in NUS (I've been overloading for all semesters except y2s1, so I'm constantly busy). As for IB grade, the international students I know are all in the 43-45 range. The range is way lower for Singaporeans (less than 40 may still be acceptable for them but not for international). And yes, they don't care about predicted grades.
@@nadventures This comment section surprised me because, except from extremely difficult courses like Med and CS, I assumed that a 41+ would be rather safe for almost all majors. I was wondering if you manage to be a top student (GPA>4.5) at NUS if everyone in your network scored 43+ on the IB?
@@Nori-tx4px Yea, my GPA is on the higher end. I think 41+ could be a possible range too honestly, but all the data I have is based on my friends so I'm not very sure.
When selecting options for the awards, do you think it’s better to choose the full scholarship amount or choose the other option?
Can you clarify your question please? Are you applying or got offered two scholarships? I didn't have a full scholarship option when I applied
@@nadventuresI have the same question as him. What he’s asking is on the schorlaship option it says to pick either to be considered for all awards (£6500,13000 and 26000 awards) or just the £ 26000 award. So which one would you advise us to choose.
@@mwakamweezymwansa500 Oh I see, I think the admissions officer wanted to gauge whether you are willing to accept lower offers. My guess is that some students cannot afford the tuition fee if they do not get a certain amount, or they already have another scholarship offer, so they plan to reject the offer if they get a low amount. The university might have realised this and decided to add that question so that if your qualifications grant you a lower amount, but you do not want a lower amount, they will not give you an offer. Choose based on your own situation :)
Thanks so much love ❤️❤️❤️❤️this answer actually gave me a better perspective on which option to pick.
@@mwakamweezymwansa500 hie did you apply for the PG one and successfully submit ,I have a few questions do you mind if l contact you and also im looking for people that will share when offers are being sent out lol

Hey Raphael did they get back to you?
I recently got an offer from UofT Faculty of Life sciences and got awarded the $100k international scholar award, but after looking at the total costs for the year, i realise that i cant even afford the money that's left. Any advice on what to do?
Hi, sorry, I'm not sure of the other options. Perhaps, you can try find some financial aid or apply to other universities instead? (Considering you got the 100k, you probably have good enough achievements to get full scholarship in other less competitive unis) Just to share my experience, I also realised that it was cheaper for me to go to Singapore compared to Canada, and it was one of the supporting factors that made me decide to go for NUS.
Total cost about what? Masters or Undergraduate?
@@Sadia_Hamdan For international students, Toronto costs 60k+ a year, while NUS is 32k+. Undergraduate.
