Discussion of the effectiveness of a mask with respect to social distancing. This discussion is developed using numerical models that address both mask effectiveness and aerosols. Work performed in the Computational Fluids and Aerodynamics Laboratory (CFAL, mae.ucf.edu/CFAL/). Presentation by Dr. Michael Kinzel.

Here is a video simulating a 1 hour church. Note that one person is potentially infected. Many churches have high ceilings, so aerosols elevate towards the ceilings and do not accumulate in the shorter services.

This video indicates how Masks can effectively reduce social distancing requirements. As we move through the pandemic, there is a tendency to assume to remove the masks. The issue is that respiratory droplets and aerosols have reached. The first step is to relax social distancing. See how this video shows how effective masks are at doing this.

These simulations reflect the effectiveness of the AVitaBar. Notice how the droplets get larger and the aerosols are reduced.

AVitaBar acts to generate larger droplets. These large droplets can actually be better captured by a mask. In the simulations, you see these larger droplets just depositing on the mask near the mouth. Without AVitaBar, they spread over the mask and can better escape through gaps.

These experiments (from UCF PERL mae.ucf.edu/PERL/) amplify respiratory droplets. THe results indicate that masks nearly eliminate droplets and aerosols.
