Sadly, there was a death that occurred at this crossing only a year after this video was made. In early October 2010, three teenage girls from Tinley Park High School started harassing and bullying this girl on social media from their high school because she was “fat” in their opinion. One of the three girls had a boyfriend who suddenly lost interest in her and began dating the girl who was overweight. She felt that the overweight girl was stealing from her, so she and her friends began making fun of that girl’s weight and getting all these other people to harass her. It made that girl cry a lot to have people constantly writing hurtful, hateful messages to her or posting photos/mean things about her on social media. After so many hurtful, hateful remarks, including demands to kill herself, she eventually gave up and committed suicide by getting herself run over by a speeding train at this crossing which is how I heard about this case - I came across it in a news story relating to Metra. It was announced at school, people began to mourn, but also, the authorities did an investigation about the suicide and guess what - the girls who were constantly cyber bullying the victim got arrested. All 3 girls were arrested and they faced charges for encouraging suicide as well as for cyberstalking and aggravated harassment. Do you really think that would even be considered murder or manslaughter if those mean girls did not actually touch their victim or kill her themselves? Do you think it was the right thing for those three girls to get arrested?

I took my Son on the new lower cars of the South Shore Line when he was only.5 yrs old but I never rode oe experience the new Bi level cars of the South Shore Line yet hoping that I'll get a chance to do that soon

A total of twenty "Little Joe" electric locomotives were built by General Electric in the latter 1940s. Three were purchased by the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad, five by the the Paulista Railroad in Brazil and the remaining twelve were sold to the Milwaukee Road. The Paulista ran them the longest retiring their last one in 1999 (a South Shore unit continues to run on occasion at the Illinois Railway Museum at Union, IL).

Any replacement cars would most likely be the Hyundai - Rotem Silverliners Vs used by SEPTA in their heavy duty electric railroads.

Chicago, South Shore and South Bend had three of these that were used in freight service. Although they were often called "Little Joes" by Milwaukee Road employees as a jibe at Stalin, since they were originally intended to be sold to the USSR. the South Shore called them "800s", after their CSS&SB road numbers. Two of the three have been preserved, #802 at the Lake Shore Railroad Museum in North East, Pa., and #803 at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Ill.
