Last cast on the local for the season
With me moving shortly, stress levels are high and time is short, so I took one last chance to get out on the local river, on Saturday 31st August.
Was really bright and breezy. Conditions weren't great. It was also really busy with other anglers, but I still managed to find the time to get a cast in and unwind.

Hiking the Loch Ordie Loop
Просмотров 5012 часов назад
I went hiking with my friend Stephen on Sunday, to do the Loch Ordie loop. It's a great loop, with lots of interest, and it's really cool to see all the signs of Beavers along the way
Loch Ossian and the Road to the Isles
Просмотров 865Месяц назад
Decided to get out and combine some fishing with a bit of a proper hike, as much to test my fitness as anything else. Tried fishing at Loch Ossian, with no success (but will definitely be back to try again), and then walked the Road to the Isles back to my car, parked at Rannoch Station
Back on the river Devon
Просмотров 419Месяц назад
A quick trip back to the the river Devon, my local river. Fished a different beat from my previous video. This beat is generally busier, but surprisingly, I've seen few videos online of it. Caught only 3 trout in the 2 hours or so I was there, but 2 of them were over 1lb, and caught within 10 minutes of each other, which made it all worthwhile!
Trout fishing on the River Earn
Просмотров 621Месяц назад
A mixed method session on the Castle Drummond beat of the River Earn. Fished for over 4 hours on the fly, and only had 2 small fish. When I switched to the lure, the action began. I'll definitely be wanting to fish it later in the season, when the Salmon are running
Back on the Spey, 30th June 2024
Просмотров 1272 месяца назад
I went back up onto the Spey, and found it really hard going on the fly. In 5 hours of fly fishing, I had 3 fish (only 1 on camera) I switched to the lure rod and landed 2 fish and lost 1 in just over an hour. There's clearly times when switching methods just makes sense!
River Almond 2nd June 2024

A trip to the River Almond at the start of June. I wasn't going to name the river I was fishing on, but with the chemical smell and known sewage issues, I figured it'd be good to highlight for awareness. I was fishing at the Almondell and Calderwood country park, and there's a sewage treatment plant just up from it. In future, I'll be spinning in that section, where I don't have to wade - or wi...
River Fillan, 4th May 2024
Просмотров 3254 месяца назад
Took a trip up to the river Fillan today, to try something a bit new. I knew it was going to be challenging, as literally everything I'd read said it's hard going when the water is low. Couple that with the slow start to the season, and I wasn't hopeful. Managed to get one beautiful trout on the lure, before switching to fly and not seeing any sign of a fish for the rest of the session. I'll de...
River Spey, Easter Sunday 2024
Просмотров 2975 месяцев назад
Decided to escape to the River Spey at Newtonmore, to avoid the worst of the Easter crowds. Was really tough going, when nothing seemed to work, then all of a sudden, had 20 minutes of action - caught 3, lost 1. Highly recommend fishing the Upper Spey if you're up that way
Spinning at Kinross Trout Fishery 29 12 23
Просмотров 3998 месяцев назад
I had originally planned to go fishing for Grayling on the rivers, but with the water levels so high, a switch to Kinross Trout Fishery seemed like a good call As the forecast was to be calm and bright, I chose spinning over fly fishing, and a good session was had - 7 fish in a 2hr session, with significantly more lost!
River Earn Grayling Fishing 17 11 2023

A wee video of my trip hunting for Grayling on the Castle Drummond beat of the River Earn, near Crieff. Terrible fishing on my part, really struggling with the indicator setup at first. Managed not to blank, though, so taking it as a win!

Haha thanks for the mention! Hard luck losing that fish, it looked like a better one. I was fishing there this weekend. Challenging fishing again and it was just as busy. Had great success at the bridge pool with both drys and nymphs. Right time and place I suppose. Good luck with the move✌️
