Wayfinder Gig Bag by Gator Cases WF-GB-ELEC
This is an unboxing of my Amazon order of 5 Wayfinder Gig Bags by Gator Cases. The model is WF-GB-ELEC. Usually these can be purchased from Ebay seller: Gator Cases Direct. However, this model is only available at Amazon for the time being... I've waited for them to be back in stock from Gator Direct because they offer discounts for orders over 10 items. Plus they're a few dollars less for just single purchases. I hope this help in your quest for a decent light weight gig bag. I use these as a padded dust cover. Well-constructed and highly recommended!

Amazing Squier Bullet Strat Makeover - Part 2
Просмотров 2682 месяца назад
This video offers some additional commentary about the Amazing Squier Bullet Strat that I modified recently. This one is truly a great guitar, and it looks stunning too! I wanted to play a little bit in the first video, so it got a bit long... As a result, I saved my final thoughts to speak about in this separate video which I'm calling Part-2. The project was a blast, and it's my hope that thi...
2012 Bullet Strat - Total Makeover - Really Nice!!!

In this video, I speak about my adventure recently encountered with a 2012 Fender Squier Bullet Strat. My son-in-law brought this one to me for a makeover and I agreed to convert it into a totally different animal. I reduced it down to it's bare components and rebuilt it into a really nice playing instrument. It's also quite nice to look at... At the end to the video I play it with a loop that ...
This build is better than a Classic Vibe!!!

In this video, I share our collaboration adventure with a special Strat-styled build that turned out amazingly well!!! My wife and I shared in the creation of a beautiful guitar that we've named "The Royal Tern." It follows my bird-naming tradition and actually has a royal appeal with silver and gold. This one is an hombre-burst in Purple & Blue with gold flecks and classic Strat appointments. ...

In this video, I share my Firefly FFSP Single Cutaway LP Style Guitar after I modified it to my personal taste. I know... I said I wouldn't do it... But I could not resist. I learned a lot from this one and discovered how easy it is to modify an LP and dial it in just the way I like it... The cost was very minimal, and the outcome is amazing!!! Firefly HEAVY RELIC - FFST Classic Series GREAT!!!

In this video, I share my encounter with a Firefly S-Style guitar that is a HEAVILY RELICED model. As I discuss, I'm not particularly a fan of the many relic guitars that are becoming so popular these days... However, this specimen is quite impressive! It's not totally realistic in terms of the aging process that they used to produce the effect, but from a distance it looks pretty good. I'm goi...

Crossrock Strat Case - REALLY Nice!

This was a quick review of the Crossrock Strat/Tele Case that purchased on Ebay. I was very impressed with the quality of this case and would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a case for their ST/TL guitar. After watching my comments, I realized that all I kept saying was "It's really nice!" ...And that is because it is REALLY NICE! Hope you find this one helpful, and thanks for watching!

Squier Vintage Strat in Sienna Sunburst - Total Makeover!

In this video, I tell the story of a rare find... It's a Squier, a vintage model that may be over 10 years old. Maybe even 20 years old... It's a Sienna Sunburst Stratocaster body that I found on Ebay for a unbelievably great price... But the big story, though, is, when I got this body, I never dreamed what kind of a build project it would yield... It's literally one of the finest guitars that ...

What switch is that for this upgrade ????
Great question... That switch is readily available from Ebay, Amazon, and others. Just search for a Push-Push pot for Fender Stratocaster. The one that I got came in a 2 pack. I think you can determine whether you want a 500k or a 250k pot. the switch has 6 lugs and the pot is typical 3 lugs. I used 250K. Thanks for watching!
I love LP's in general. But, I love that guitar. Soon I am going to be offering a firefly bat or 2 of them for that guitar. Have fun.
Cool!!! This guitar has been really good. The quality of Firefly guitars has really amazed me. I have one of their relic ST models in total make-over mode. Once complete that gonna be a fun video to share... Thanks for watching!!!
That finish looks bad ass!
I just wanna say, your channel is awesome. Love it. This is another great video. Have you tried the Jet Guitars yet? I have been getting into those lately, butter necks for sure.
Today is December 24th. Here in Seattle, one day soon to be on a farm. Help!!!! Just picked up the exact guitar! About an hour ago. Same color combination. From the serial number ICS13130267. Crafted in Indonesia year 2013. Owner said there were no modifications whatsoever. Same pickups etc... I do like the saddle parts gold and the added touch ups on the headstock. My headstock is also exactly like yours. Squier in gold, black outline 70s style. I'm curious what serial number is on the back and where it's made. Mine also has 6 screws on the saddle in chrome. Came with the little Fender 15g Amp. He even through in a boss DS-1 distortion pedal. $120 buck chuck. Thanks for the video. To be outside on a farm, wishlist for Santa 🎅
The neck came off a 2024 model. It was made in China with a S/N that starts with CSSA. Plays really nice! Thanks for watching!
I saw a local one for cheap, but I found out it's not the same exact model. I'll still got it because of your video, and mod it just because. 😅🤣🤘🏾
Yes, I liked it the way it was, but as you said... Modded it just because... It's the only LP style guitar I own and it plays nice! Thanks for watching!!
My two post affinity did the same, they pulled out of the body ,fender uk gave me a replacement guitar which is ok ,but i dont use the trem ,i like the guitar ,plays lovely but i personally prefer the old six screw bridge like on my m.im fender strat, which is 25years old ,never has any problems ,the 2 pivot bridge hooks around 2 posts in the body ,which will pull out of the body posts are made of cheap monkey metal withalken screw heads the two post FEnder has flat blade head and are better quality
Yes, I agree... The old 6 screw bridges on this particular model are seemingly better (in my opinion). I do like some of the 2 post systems on the full thickness models, but still think that old design has been time tested and can be very good if adjusted correctly... Thanks for watching!!!
I bought a Starcaster-Strat By: Fender (said it right on the head stock) about 4 years ago specifically to do an extreme mod/upgrade to my specs. I stripped it completely and repainted the body and head stock in a stars and planets space theme to go further out with the name and theme . using paray cans and airbrushed detailing and hand made a custom extended stainless steel pick guard to cover the extended control cavity that i need for all the extra controls loaded in the pock guard including 3 quad rail/coil humbuckers and the 6 500k pots adorned with Tele style chrome knobs and switch tip for the Fender 5-way blade switch. that replaced the import PCB switch. wired like a '50's Les Paul with coil splits with the volume pots are 500k P/P an 2 normal and the bridge tone pot also a P/P to activate the bridge and neck pickups together regardless of the other controls all tyhe pots are audio taper. I used .047 orange drop caps in the detailed circuit. the humbuckers have 4 smaller bobbins and coils in pairswith 5 wires , one braded main ground and the 4 others fo no. and so. of each pair of coils in the humbuckers. the output jack is also mounted in the pick guard just behind the bridge to make a little more room for the 6 pots. I oriented the pickups with the active soils when split are toward the bridge for a bit brighter tone and it all works as designed. the bridge got a full size brass sustain block and roller saddles. The head stock got a titanium nut, roller string tree and locking tuners. Strung with 9-46 set of strings and tuned to E-Flat standard with the bridge floated for more control with the whammy bar. This unique guitar sounds out of this world and feels nice to hold as I play. It all worked out better than I expected for my very first ever guitar build/mod project. i learned why guitars cost what the do and learned many new skills along the way. total cost including the guitar price of $100 USD plus all the parts and materials ended up at about $500 including a few tools i needed for the build. less than 1/0th the cost of a custom shop version made to the same specs. but I have the pride of having done it all myself. and have a guitar to be proud of and enjoy . the next guitar will be an Esquire built to original design and classic wiring as well. Wanna Play???
@KennethCrickmore-sl8jl Wowwie! I would really like to see that... can you email me a couple photos? rjlandis63@gmail.com
I have a 77 GIbson Les Paul Custom with a maple fretboard :). Maple cap body as well - looks very similar to this guitar.
It seems to be a hearty model... I actually went to some modifications and did a second video on this one... I replaced the pickups and electronics as well as the machine heads... It's a beauty with the mods... even better than before... It's my only LP style guitar and only one of two instruments I own with a tune-o-matic bridge. Thanks for watching!

@xa.j.x These models are available from guitarsgarden.com but they're always rotating their styles... check out their site for specific availability. Upgrade and replacement parts are easily accessible from Amazon, Ebay, and Ali Express...Generic parts usually fit these instruments too... thanks for watching!
God bless you brother!
Thanks for watching Charlie! Blessings to you and your household in the name of Jesus!
I have the gold Top Model , bought it 3 weeks ago, great instrument so far
Greetings and thanks for watching! I have been checking the Guitars Garden site for a while and they've been sold out of a lot of their models... I hope they get their stock back up, because I'm ready to buy another one! Cheers!
Yeah, not a Telecaster. I call mine my "Tele Paul". hehe
It's definitely a keeper! I'm really enjoying this one, and plan to have it in the collection permanently! Thanks for watching!
Definitely leave the Squier decal on! It makes it a sleeper. Imagine grandma's Buick that's been tuned up..... except there's no outward appearance of a hotrod.
Yeah, that was kind of what I felt at that moment of truth... Squier is actually much more respected than many people think... Just a certain camp of people are still hold-outs and scrutinize the brand very too heavily... I was one of them, but now it just enjoy Squier guitars so much! Didn't know what I was missing (they're so much fun to mod)... Thanks for watching!
After I finish my Guitar Fetish build I'm going to start another one. I've been planning a white body and blue pickguard for awhile. Now I know sort of how good it will look. The pickguard I have coming from AliExpress is a hum-single and a little lighter shade of blue. I'll be getting white pickups. Not sure if I'll go with a blue Floyd Rose (Their "Special Vibe" series) or red. I have blue and white Guyker Dopamine colored tuners saved in the shopping cart on their site and just got a pair of blue anodized strap pins from Forney Custom Guitar & Amp Products on Reverb. They also do jack plates, volume / tone knobs and switch tips. Still trying to decide if I want to just do blue and white, or red, white and blue guitar. Yours looks great with that pickguard.
Greetings Joe! Thanks for your input... Yes indeed, this is so satisfying to match up the things that we really like in combinations that just don't come stock... After doing a few builds now, I'm hooked! I have a few other things on the slate for the next build(s) and I realize that anything is possible... The sky is the limit! Thanks for watching!
Thanks, dad! It looks and sounds amazing!
Yes indeed, it's a beauty too! You're welcome... It was a therapeutic adventure! Thanks for letting me do it!
Have fun😊
Thanks! I'm having a blast!
Great job
I appreciate your encouragement! Are you still teaching guitar (playing or building) in any of your classes?
@@RaymondLandis Yes, we will have the guitar competition next semester. I actually just received a shipment of DIY guitar pedals that students will make in our circuits class.
@@TheCommonSenseProfessor I'd like to send you a guitar that you could perhaps award to one of your students... Maybe we can have a telephone conversation? You can email me at rjlandis63@gmail.com if you'd like to chat... Thanks for watching!!!
Another nice one!
Hi Rhuby! Thanks for this great encouragement! It's always exciting to conclude an adventure in the Wow Factor... I am often surprised myself, how nice these guitar builds and makeovers come out in the end. I really enjoy doing it and have discovered so much in the process... Thanks for watching!!! Stay blessed!!!
I bought one about a month ago and its been my project guitar. The fret ends of mine were sharp. Prob due to it being in a box for months on the top shelf of a music store and the fluctuation in climate. Just this past weekend I got some files, polishing sand paper and went to town on sanding it and filing the edges. Man, that fretboard feels sooo amazing now! Very much comparable to at least a student model strat neck, if not any other standard model strat/tele neck IMHO. Amazing!
Yes, these necks are actually a surprise to me... They're really quite well designed. Of course, they're put together in a way that is aimed at economy, but they're not bad if you know how to service them yourself. I'm an enthusiast / hobbyist, so I have a lot of fun doing this kind of stuff. It was a pleasure to discover that Squire Sonic Necks are worth the effort to make them better... I recently did a total makeover of a 2012 Squier Bullet Strat also, and it turned out amazing! That video is coming soon! Thanks for watching!
The body is mahogany, and the relic pattern in the body is almost exactly the same on all of them. I put a cream colored pickguard on it, and it looks great.
Yes, I believe you're right about that... It must be something they stick-on or perhaps the machine carves out the same pattern on every one... I've already sanded the body down and started to paint it, but the weather changed here in Vermont, so I haven't gotten it finished yet... Thinking of ideas to do it inside without making a mess... Thanks for watching!
@RaymondLandis looking forward to the next video. Thanks.
How about measurements?
Good question... I didn't take any measurements with gauges... However, it seems to me that it's a standard 9.5 radius with 21 frets... It's not flat... And it's not a slim neck either..., It's a little chunkier than the Squier Affinity so perhaps it's a "D" or a "U" or a "C-Chunky" Those three are quite a bit a-like. Overall it is very easy to work on and sanding the fingerboard edges doesn't leave any noticeable scarring that I can see... Thanks for watching!!!
@ Thank you Sir.
@@MyScooter57 You are most certainly welcome! I'm loading a video tonight that has a lot of coverage about a neck from a Squier Bullet. Those are very similar to the Sonic in their quality level, but much slimmer than the Sonic necks...
@ I will be sure to watch it.
I've had mine about 18 months. No intonation or construction issues, but pickups were the weakest I've encountered in decades of playing electrics. I put a pair of Seymour Duncan "Cool Rail" humbuckers in it, and have had zero problems since. Looks great, Sounds great. Easy to play, and it has more features than some of my other guitars that cost twice as much. I don't like the gloss finish on the neck & fretboard, but I can live with that. Excellent value for the money!
Yeah, this one is a keeper! I don't plan on parting with this one... Thanks for watching!
It is possible to build a really great guitar by selecting ones individual parts. I've got a Strat Partscaster that is super! ( Built by a builder I'd never met.
Hey Gene, thanks for watching... Isn't it amazing how versatile the Strat styled guitar is? There are so many possibilities, yet there's still the wonderful classic configuration that is so hard to beat. I have mostly Strats in my collection... Some have humbuckers and others have special switching options, both with and without tremolos, I like them all! I just don't get tired of Strats. Aren't they great!!!
@@RaymondLandis My "Partscaster", is gloss black, with a Birdseye maple neck, with the real large Fender peg head. A "Gilmore" mod, pull the vol. knob up....to get all 3 pickups,..sounds Super!
You need to buff out that finish. A lot of imperfections in it. Sorry.
You were right! I kept thinking about what you said and decided to try a bit of elbow grease with compound, and it was amazing how it changed the appearance. It's still not perfect but it shines a lot better than before... Thanks for your honest input, and as always, thanks for watching!!!
Looks like a kid with a spray can fkt your strat up ......
Don’t buy a relic….lots of imperfections.
@@bluwng LOL... that's a riot! Yeah, those relics have all kinds of things going on... Love 'em or hate 'em ---They are what they are! Anyway...we knew that this one was going to be something in-between a relic and a "less-than-refined" finished product... But once again, it was so satisfying to build, and it plays so nice... My hope with this channel is to encourage players to step-out and try something different... Thanks for watching!!! Stay blessed!!!
Great looking guitar!
Thanks Snug! It was so much fun to build, and it was a new experience for me by collaborating with my wife. We have plans to build at least two more projects like this together. One of them will be a makeover of the Firefly Relic Strat that I reviewed. It's been sanded down and primed, but it has a bit to go before we put it back together. But this one has been groundbreaking for me... we broke some rules and found out that there aren't rules; you can try anything and make whatever you want... Thanks for watching!!!
where's the neck from?
Hey man, thanks for watching! I believe I got this neck early last spring from Howell Guitar. They're a seller on Ebay that I've purchased from a few times and they've been consistently good... Here is their link: www.ebay.com/usr/howellguitar
First month with mine. Plays unbelievable outta the box with a minor truss adjustment.
You'll really enjoy this one, it's a pleasure to play... Thanks for watching!
I have had one for about a year now. And I love it. It plays as good as it looks. It is a work of art to me.
Yes, I agree... This particular one is a gem... But I have found most of the Firefly guitars are really nice overall. They are not all to my personal liking, however, they're good quality instruments and they can be modified easily. I'm taking one of their relic models now and working it over into something that I prefer in place of their rendition of the relic... I should have a video out on that sometime in the near future... Thanks for watching...
I haven't modified my ash example yet. Although I do have plans for modest changes. I will probably just do a graphite nut and pickup swap. The stock locking tuners have been ok so far, and the hardware seems solid. The guitar is very loud and resonant when played unplugged. So I don't plan on swapping hardware right now. The stock pickups actually sound pretty decent for what they are. For me, they are too bright over all, with a weak bottom end that is too soft under higher gain settings. But for someone who is playing classic rock or pop, the stock pups are actually very workable. I am going to try a set of GFS Redactive moderns, which should perk her up pretty well. I was able to grab a set along with a complete quick connect wiring harness for $103.00 shipped. I think this is an awesome model for FF. My example did need a complete setup, but it is a joy to play and is super resonant. Even after mods, the total cost will be well under $400.00, and I can't help but think that is an awesome deal for such a killer "cheap a$$" guitar.
I do find Firefly guitars to be really fun to work with... Whether you just play them stock or try to mod them, they're just plain cool instruments and the price is really amazing... I also like GFS offerings... I've ordered so much stuff from them and almost everything I get from GFS is good... 99.9%. Just how does Firefly they make a profit with prices so low? Thanks for watching!
I'm a big fan of Squiers...especially modded Squiers. The snobs love to insult Squiers, but they are usually well-made guitars that can be made into real players with a little TLC. Glad to see someone else who recognizes their value.
I was one of those who didn't go for Squier models until recent times... Now I think they super great options for a great guitar... They may need some TLC, but totally worth it... Even Fender models need some help... So really, what's the difference??? Thanks for watching!
I've heard that two-point trems on Squiers will break the wood. Not always, but often enough that it will keep me from buying a Squier with the two-point trem.
Fender was really good about this one... And the replacement has been perfect!
I just replaced my tuners with regular Grover’s and Bridge with a Gotoh. I have same exact model. Im going to give it to my Nephew for Xmas! Soldering is my downfall I suck at it but somehow when I was 16 I was not so intimidated by it.
Soldering was always my challenge too... But I use a couple tricks that helped me to overcome... One is to lightly scuff or sand the back of pots before melting solder to them, and next: use a little bit of flux on the parts you're joining (non-acid type). I also got some heat shrink tubing to keep on hand in case I wanted to tidy things up a bit... and small zip ties work to keep things neat as well and out-of-the-way from other things that you're soldering... It gets easier after you do it little more... Thanks for watching!
Do you happen to know the measurements of the neck base? I’m looking to get a sonic body and an aftermarket neck but no one can give me the pocket measurements.
I don't know the measurements to quote, however, I do know that these necks and most Fender/Squire specs allow for the interchangeability of neck and body parts. Even the thinner bodied Squier guitars will usually take any standard Fender spec'd neck. The neck pocket is the same depth on the thinner bodies, and there is simply less material behind the neck at the body to allow for the neck to seat into the pocket deep enough... BTW, a Strat neck will go onto a Tele body, but a Tele neck will not go onto a Strat body because the scale length is affected in the latter... There is always the possibility that you'll need a shim in the neck pocket to create a proper angle inside the adjustments range at the bridge. There are a ton of videos on RUclips about all this also. Thanks for watching!
Got a pink Sonic Strat ht and i totally agree about the neck. It's hard to believe it is that good for relatively little money. I don't think the body feels cheap, not cheaper than the Fender player series where the Sonic Squier is very reminiscent of.
Yes, I was pleasantly surprised about this... And the neck looks really nice too. If you ever wanted to finish it, that would be easy since there's very little finishing on these... Thanks for watching!
I just picked up a Sonic in Surf Green for $159 and love it! The neck is amazing. I’m simply having a blast with it!
They're much better than you would initially think... Thanks for watching!
I was there!
Yes, you were my friend! We had a blast doing this one!!!
Those are Alnico 5 pickups. It comes that way.
Yes the pickups actually sound really nice... After having it for a while, I decided to make a few modifications. The switching seems to be off a little, so while I change out the wiring and pots, I'm going to put in some uncovered zebra pups and see how that goes... The tuners I replaced are really nice now too... I may have to do another video to show all the changes... Nevertheless, these Firefly guitars have really good bones!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Mine will be here in a few days
Awesomeness!!! You must have gotten your order in before they sold out... The black ones are gone for the time being! Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for watching!
@@RaymondLandis Got the green
Hi! Just curious, I've been looking for an unfinished maple neck, so got a Squire sonic. Only problem, the neck is a bit on the heavier side, I measured the weight with (818g) and without tuners (638g). I'm looking for a maple neck under 550g without tuners, but for now, I'm just curious, could it just be my batch? Any chance you could weight yours (perfectly fine with the tuners)? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
@LTUPauliux I would be happy to do that. However, it would require that I disassemble the guitar to do it... so I probably won't be able to weigh that at this time... I can tell you a little bit about that sonic strat neck that a few other people have confirmed... it is chunckier than the Affinity necks and surprisingly more like a classic vibe neck... you should probably check out Howell Guitar on Ebay and message him about getting exactly what you want... you may be able to get one from him unfinished...

Thanks Jane! Blessings to you and your family! Thanks for watching!
You honoured God......God bless u !
Praise the Lord! That's the only way to live!!! Be blessed my friend, God is good! All the time!
Man those frets sound rough.
Yes sir, that was the one thing that I noticed that needed the most help... I think that it was accentuated by 2 things though... For one, I was unplugged, and the little mic was on my chest pinned to my shirt. That made it pickup that scratchy sound more than ever... The second thing is that the strings they put on these Firefly guitars are so bad that there aren't even words to describe them... They literally leave your fingers with black stains that are hard to wash off... But with all that said, the neck is already off this one and is getting some TLC and a major fret polishing before re-installation... Thanks for watching!!!
For 200 smackers that is a seriously cool Electric Guitar. I want it as a travel and jam.anywhere instrument. I would leave it as it is if it sounds and plays well...bet if I ordered one it would'nt be as good as yours. Resonance is amazing at this end.
Hey, I've gotten 6 Firefly guitars over the last year, and they've all been pretty good. With one of them, I swapped out the neck and body and make two other guitars from the parts mixed in with Strat component that were interchangeable with other standard Strat parts... They've all been nothing but good experience for me... I bet you do get a good one! Stay blessed, and thanks for watching!!!
that's really not what a used & worn guitar body looks like. This looks like somebody neatly sanded it
I totally agree with you about this... I've already stripped this guitar down and I'm sanding the body to be refinished. What I noticed is that there is a sort of "sticker" that is being used to replicate the wear pattern. I watched Guitar Max's review of this same guitar and stopped it in various places to compare the body patterns... They're very identical on each guitar. They're using some kind of "stick-on" pattern or something... For $200 shipped, they're mass producing something that is okay, but at the same time, not realistic up close... I'm going to refinish this one, and I'm excited to see what I come up with... Thanks for watching and come back to see the results!

Yes Robert, this one got an upgrade to and ARM brand 2-point tremolo system. It floats perfectly with 2 springs in the back and stays in tune without any problems... I put a link in the description to the tremolo that is about $22 shipped to your door!
I just received my Firefly 338 yesterday. It is set up perfect. The Intonation is good the action is good and the neck is straight. Firefly has obviously been watching all of the videos that complain about one issue or another. They have fixed everything. Full size pots, Locking tuners and a bone nut. Not to mention the Stainless-steel frets with round ball ends that reach all the way to the edge of the neck. Truly a work of art.
You bet! These are great guitars for the money... And for a modding platform, they really make a great foundation! Thanks for watching!!!
Relic;d guitars are the dumbest thing ever.
You know I've always felt that way too... I didn't particularly like the look of this one, however, I do like the overall feel and playability of it. I've already got it stripped down into all of its parts and the body has been sanded for painting. I'm going to customize this one to be just to my liking. Come back and see what I do with it in another video that I've already started to compile clips for... Then I'd really like to hear your impression of the finished product. Remember, I'm a hobbyist, not a professional, so be nice... Thanks for watching!
Nuclear arms are the dumbest thing ever.

@@RaymondLandis Very cool man! ..there is ALWAYS a guy who has to tell everyone how much he hates relics. Relic guitars really trigger some people. LOL
