Collected Over Time is a channel dedicated to items, mainly wardrobe items that I have collected overtime. My main areas of review are but are not limited to are: Watches, Jackets, Boots and Hats. I am an Australian who sources products locally and around the world that I enjoy and use regularly in everyday life. I intend to demonstrate products and pieces that I have worn and give an in site past an “unboxing”. I hope that my experience can assist you in your own quest, as a mans wardrobe is one that should be simple, timeless and collected over time. Thanks for tuning in!

Ive tried several Spyderco knives and just cant get into them i respect the following amd materials however. Just not my thing. Watched a buddy drop a Para 2 off the 2nd step of a 4ft ladder and the blade shattered in half. Spyderco did not warranty it and that kind of turned me off as well. The 940 is an amazing knife. Im not the biggest fan of the scale design but a great knife non the less
Looks like a flat welt...can we get in a raised storm welt?
filson is old money rich!! my grandma got me one when i was younger it has pouches for rabbits. shame they arent made in the US anymore kinda like doc martin not being made in england
My fav hat . I need a black one 😊
Super COLD and not warm at all. Be sure to buy a size larger as you need to layer under this jacket even in mild temps. The cheap tee-shirt cotton lining filson uses is subpar. Waxed cotton is cold and clammy on your skin - even with the cheap lining. They missed an opportunity to make a fantastic jacket, had they used a light wool lining fabric. The upside is you will look good in this cold and expensive pseudo jacket.
I was on the fence about the Yearling boots, but see them in person I changed my mind. These are beautiful boots mate I'll tell you that.
With the Ross Anvil video - The synthetics are only in the comfort craftsman range. The classic leather sole shoes are still made the exact same way they always have been and to the same quality. Not ideal, but Ross anvil slammed all of RM boots when he just picked the one that’s meant to be comfortable like a sneaker, so naturally it’ll have some trade offs to make that happen.
wish it has interior pockets. would not cost much to add.
AMZWATCH watch are the best, I say this from experience.
I have the same jacket in both tan and black, really love them. Mine are both USA made as well, and found that a simple warm moleskin or cotton liner works great with these. Even a hoodie in colder months. Last time I checked Filson offers 5 colors now, lol. I still like a few things they make, but hit or miss these days. I do miss these days of free wax tins, but at least I have 2 on the shelf still. Looks great!
The practical reason for the difference between a logger and a dogger is weight, a logger heel removes only 12-1oz might per boot but makes a difference as they’re designed for different terrains. Logger for waliking inclines, ascents and uneven ground, dogger for walking flat ground and riding (horses).
@@davidcallan7844 I did not know that. Glad I do now! Thanks mate.
High arch, logger heel, flat outsole, and toe cap = Anvil model, no?
@@InGrindWeCrust2010 nope not anvil mate. Just something I had custom done.

Does “American Made” mean anything to people outside the United States?
@@aaronthompson6304 hi mate. For me it comes down to the originality of the product and the brands heritage status. Part of the appeal for me is the fact that the garment is being manufactured in the original place of creation. Understand that businesses evolve, however for a heritage business that sells heritage pieces preference would be made as was originally. The SLC falls in that category for me. They are made overseas now, which I don’t believe the quality is necessarily any less, but looses some of its credibility as a long standing US made business. Kind of like if Akubra or RM Williams shipped their products overseas for manufacture (hats and boots). Just doesn’t sit right. Thanks for watching and commenting ! ❤️
hi, guy from mexico…i guess the “American Made” is a cultural thing, something your culture is proud is being made by you, sold by you and worn by you. I guess Mexico has that same cultural aspect but not as hard as the Americans. Anyways i thinks the proudness of buying things made by your people is being lost because people now prefer quantity over quality, so i don’t think they care about it being made in china.
Don't say that rolex increases in value cos millions of people lost lots of money when the watch market collapsed🙊 And even before; rolex didn't really increased in value (maybe only the daytonas or submariners) ; the rest they keep up with the inflation.
Both of those boots look great. I love the patina on the leathers.
Sorry you said you sold the Original bracelete! Well it looks undressed to me it doesn't look like a Speedy!😢 mine is from 1998 cal. 861 /1861 T swiss made T and is well dressed !😂
Wow those are sharp...I really like the full brown rougout.
Last of the classically sized 40 mm subs before they went to 41 mm
I’ve owned this watch. It was one of my favorites. I loved it. Unfortunately it was tied to some bad memories in my life. I can’t own it anymore because it reminds me of those bad times.
Been waiting nearly 2 years at my AD for one (UK). Really frustrating to see so many on the grey market from flippers
@@ElGwapo1927 it is disheartening when you want one to keep and so many are flipping to make cash. Stick with it, not sure if you watched the whole vid but I did have a couple tips in there for putting yourself in good position. Good luck mate.
Amazing watch !
bought mine in 2015 just before the watch hype really took off and got 20% off from a dept store using staff discount.
@@Cam_LDN too good!! Amazing the change in less than 10 years’ great watch.
This is the best Rolex reference of all time
I own the same, it’s the best model IMO. I enjoy wearing it every single day.
I own lots of Filson products. I recommend sticking with the staples like the tin cloth and mackinaw wool. Regardless of price they’re about the best you’ll find regarding quality. But I’d steer clear of any of the man made synthetic textiles they offer. In that space you’re definitely buying the name. I wear out a tin cloth vest about every three years. I send it back to have it repaired and they end up sending me a new one free of cost. But I use these clothes as tools. Buy once, cry once. But, if you’re buying for fashion (something I really don’t understand) you’d probably do better with something else. It takes a lot of time to wear these garments in. Once worn in they’ll contour to your body and your movements. It’s really quite something. I can tell you haven’t done much in your jacket as there’s no permanent wear marks, folds, so it’s basically brand new. My guess is if you continue using it how you’re using it now you’ll likely be able to pass it down to your grandchildren.
Im hoping to get my hands on a Ship John Will Jacket. They said they'll be taking orders end of this year or beginning of 2025. I have 6 Carhartt Jackets. Getting another one in a couple weeks. I guess you can say I have a work jacket addiction. I think I need Help.
@@rabbithole8592 😂
I love my Ian Harold boots. Understand they are similar.
I just ordered one. I own a good bit of Filson gear. Most of my stuff is aged and US made. I needed a shorter tin cloth cruiser to wear with a tool belt this fall. I haven’t received it yet but I guess we’ll see on the quality. I own a wool lined tin vest, tin cruiser, tin work vest, two wool vests, one wool cruiser, merino wool base layers (not US made), wild foul hat, insulated cap, bush hat, wool liner jacket. Love all of it. My tin cruiser jacket and tin work vest are my go-to items for working outside. Both have a beautiful patina.
Have you checked out Wootten in Ballarat? I think they will be up your alley.
@@lukeoelmo I’ll had a look mate! Had no idea! They look great. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
I think your liking the White’s 4811 last. I love Nicks boots but the White’s 4811 is the most comfortable last I have ever worn.
And Frank’s is even better
Well said mate
With regards to brands using synthetics materials; it's utter skin-flint tight-fisted ness. These manufacturers have no problem compromising the quality of their products in areas that are difficult for a lay-person to notice, whilst gouging the price of said boots by several hundred dollars. I'd been wearing a 20 year old pair of Yearlings that my old man gave me out of his wardrobe, and I wanted another pair of crafters, but in a different colour, to compliment them. I was hugely disappointed with the new pair; they don't feel as tough or as robust, plus the leather was thinner and wore quicker than you'd have expected. This is something I've began to notice amongst all clothing brands nowadays, even staple robust workwear (like Carharrt or Filson) just feel flimsy and cheap compared to older items. Thank god for Japanese selvage denim, which seems to be the only clothing area nowadays focussed on maintaining quality.
@@oliverreno4734 nice summary mate.
I've noticed RM boots in myer feel cheaply made, they had a fake welt, glued sole, and synthetic lining, but still had the same pricetag as craftsmen do in the RM store! Its sad that a brand would allow products of that quality to represent it on any level, but they make a killing on the margins. With workwear clothes I've found dickies have retained some of their ruggedness compared to other brands. I was surprised to find their eisenhower utility jacket has a cotton lining and was reasonably rugged, plus I didnt have to go into debt to buy it. Cant say the same alot of the workwear brands that have left their original customers behind.
Aren’t these women’s boots? Also yearling is a year old cow. So yearling kangaroo leather would be some sort of freak baby kangaroo cow hybrid haha. I think they do either yearling or kangaroo, not yearling kangaroo.
@@flippalovell These are men’s boots! The style is called Yearling and they happen to be made with Yearling leather (like most of RM boots). There is a Lady Yearling which is a similar style and heal profile. Regarding the Kangaroo, you could get the Yearling boot made on kangaroo leather, at least you could when RM did custom boots. Hope that helps! Cheers for watching
They look really good
They still use the RapidE machine to stitch these. The only part that is hand sewn is the thin welt strip piece to the vamp. After that, they stitch the two lines via a machine. You can even see this done on White’s build videos. People have a misconception that the sole is stitched on by hand, when they buy the “hand sewn welt” models.
@@EDHBlvd thanks for the info mate! Have seen a few of your clips too! Keep them coming. 👍🏻
@@collectedovertime3291 I wonder if these are the 4811 Last like you were wondering. It’s a Last I have never tried and feel like I need to scratch that itch. I’m not a big fan of the 55 Last (only have 1 pair after selling all my others) and while I love the 11067 Last, from pictures, it would appear the 4811 Last has an even wider toe box. I enjoy the comfort of Nick’s ThurmanNW and Thurman55 Lasts, but they are kinda ugly looking from the top. The 4811 has a nice balance of wider toe box, without looking clownish. White’s QC frustrates me, but their boots have a special charm. I keep saying I am done with Whites, but then I look at buying them again. HAHA. BTW, I looked at your channel and remember watching your videos on Nicks boots. Cheers!
@@EDHBlvd it’s like you read my mind re the last dialogue I too have in my brain haha. I’d say they definitely are the 4811 as the fit is noticeably different (slight), they are half a size down and 1 increment up in width to my usual. Love the nicks but these are amazing and not cumbersome to wear. The distressed Roughout is a really nice soft and durable leather. Prior to getting these I was considering the Thurman and saw yours.. almost pulled the trigger but the boot beast in me is sleeping (for now) haha. Cheers mate
Great video mate. The Filson Cruisers are my favourite jacket bar none. I originally bought the red and black check Mackinaw new from Filson about 15 years ago, fell in love, and then started searching for them on the second hand market. So far I have collected the cream and black check Mackinaw, plain black Mackinaw, and plane grey Mackinaw; and a canvas double lined cruiser in olive.....plus a tin cloth vest lined in the red check. Mine are all the Alaska cut and are all made in USA. They are such practical and comfortable garments that can be dressed up or down that I don't have much need for anything else. The search continues!
@@elwynjames5791 Thanks for the message mate! You’re very right, they are do it all jackets that you can have for years! Thanks again.
Great review. I too am a fan of heritage wear. Have a pair of White's Bounty Hunter/Rancher on the 55 last and the uppers look very similar to your smokejumpers. Sole is less lugged with a square heal. Much easier to wear daily than the Wesco Jobmasters that I have (similar to the smokejumper). Regards
What watch are you wearing?

That’s tan. It’s simply the lighting. Not yellow at all

I have a hat pretty much just like yours, only mine doesn't have the fancy lining. I have the Khaki canvas safari sun hat by Panama Jack. That may not compare to yours in the way it's made, but by all means, my hat was not a cheap hat. ($49 US).
Does it still smell?
@@Michael-Elo all waxed cotton / oil skins do have a little smell from the wax or oil but hardly noticeable.
@@collectedovertime3291 hardly noticeable???? I bought one and a week ago and one day later my wife told me it stank out whole apartment up. Also, after driving in my car I had to clean the whole leather seat and armrest from the wax. So it had to go back. I really loved the look and quality of the jacket, but the smell and wax that rubbed of it made me return it. If I would use it only for outdoors work and keep it in a garage it could work, but not in my urban living environment. I had "oilskin" jackets before but non of them smelled so strong.
Thinking of getting this with the zipper. But I have long arms and a lot of jackets don’t fit me. what’s your jacket size? I’m a 42L Height weight?

I absolutely love the look of the black wax flesh, very classy, am thinking about ordering the brown wax flesh
The boots in this video are brown waxed flesh, correct? Did you do the boot order? Trying to decide between brown waxed and black waxed myself....
@ I couldn’t decide which ones to order the brown or black so I ordered both, I personally like the black wax flesh better but the brown definitely has a place
@joshuaricks7882 What do you like about it? Has it worn to show some of the brown leather underneath?
@ I haven’t worn the brown boots yet , I’ve been wearing the black ones for a few months now, definitely the most comfortable boots I’ve ever had, they look great, definitely have a really nice patina from wearing them every day
Can you do a review on your craftmen boots mate Thanks!
