George Duke & Napoleon Murphy Brock about Frank Zappa (Re-Upped)
Просмотров 11 тыс.5 лет назад
Another excerpt from Frank Scheffer's documentary "Frank Zappa, A Pioneer Of The Future Of Music" as broadcast by VPRO's "Het uur van de Wolf" in the Netherlands April 22, 2007. Dutch (hard) subbed. I took this offline years ago, because of some crazy hate towards George Duke (RIP); it got nasty. Never understood why.. Full docu in the links, & if the links don't work, lemme know please.. I can...

Steve Vai about Frank Zappa
Просмотров 1,9 млн15 лет назад
Excerpt from Frank Scheffer's documentary "Frank Zappa, A Pioneer Of The Future Of Music" as broadcast by VPRO's "Het uur van de Wolf" in the Netherlands, April 22, 2007. Dutch hard subbed (sorry). Vai reminisces about the first parts of what would become "What's new in Baltimore", & the Zappa live part is not the "sound check" Vai refers to (as far as I know there's no video), but "Black Napki...

this is one of the earliest trip hop tracks apparently
Like if you're watching on Halloween!
It was more beautiful as an arpeggiated solo guitar piece - at least the part Steve Vai played.
If your in zappas band you know you’re at the top of your game
One of my biggest regrets is not seeing Frank live when I was younger before he was taken from us. He’s in My top 3 musicians
what is the song from the live recording when zappa is soloing? is it on spotify by any chance?
Best of the Best" bless his soul"
"One Size Fits All" still is "my" Zappa-album. When I'm stuck composing sometimes and I think: ‘You can't do it like this’, then I put on ‘Inca Roads’ for a moment and then I think: ‘Why shouldn't I be able to do it like this?’ Frank Zappa's music frees me from all conventions when things get too narrow for me or threaten to become a one-way street. It's simply amazing what he has achieved and what an incredibly good band he had at the time of ‘One Size Fits All’. I'm always thrilled.
It was just the soundcheck. RIP my favorite composer. This man is one of a kind
He is like a buddha master giving vai questions to ponder
Genius is often mistaken for insanity. Zappa was a one in a century talent.
That's "Black Napkins", not "Zoot Allures" ... anyway, stellar as he was.
Well, that 1st part can be a Dissection song
We'll never see the likes of Frank again, and the culture is the worse for it.. fortunately we have all that material from the archive, but just imagine what would have come in the proceeding 30 years til now if we'd not lost him so early in his life.. and with the level of todays technology it would have been mind blowing.. rest in peace Frank, we miss you..
The 7 CD Roxy Perfomance box set is one of the best albums I ever bought.
Only the best musicians could be in Zappa's bands. He launched the careers of some of the best. Here's the full documentary. ruclips.net/video/kaujhPblnf0/видео.html
Stevie is a one of the best guitar player
There are many who perform but not all are entertaining. Frank Zappa and The Mothers....were ALWAYS entertaining.
Wild seeing actual footage of Zappa playing Inca Roads instead of the claymation segment…..which I adore BTW
GOLD. THANK YOU MAN
It’s a real shame that rehearsal Steve Vai is talking about, isn’t available for us mere mortals to wonder at! But then there loads of FZ out here already to blow out tiny minds!!!
Relentless tune then and now avoiding masses of ‘trip hop’ cliches …. whoever came up with that term have a word with yourself ffs
That's flo and eddie
Oh Napoleon
Not tonight Josephine
Oh y'all musicians better listen to George
I have an SG. I don't think I'll ever be able to sound like that - at least not on this earth. Rest in Peace Frank!
SUPER, Vai and Zappa were hard to beat with free style guitaring!! Zappa spring boarded some great talents to the music world. I can't think of an artist that spanned so wide contributing so much to the music world.
У Заппы всегда были проблемы с игрой на гитаре , но он был оригинален и музыкален. Он был композитором и звукорежиссёром.
The fact we will never hear the sound check Steve heard 😢
Just beautiful, and fascinating to learn how much Zappa tempted and cajoled George to extend himself.
😂
Telex I n2 dopo i KRAFTWERK quasi simili nel suono

Best Zappa era for me. George Duke and NMB are just brilliant combined with Frank. Ruth too! Soundtrack of my life. Musical taste kind of comes in waves but Zappa is what I have always listened to. There’s always so much going on.
The San Diego kid
I agree George, the One Size Fits All Mothers was a wonder to listen to, and it's when I started listening to Frank seriously.
People ask “is he all that?” And I think he probably is. Wrong Genre for me. He is the only man who could conduct an autistic orchestra
It’s on the live album does humour belong in music and it’s a prelude to what’s new in Baltimore
Aquí esta echa la perfección musical...
Sounds like something Eric Johnson would come up with.
WOW! COOL! I miss Frank...😔
Sounds exactly like all the countless progressions many of us musicians/writers have thrown away because we've had another 20 or more similar pieces we keep in our memory catalog that for some reason often never come into fruition. Personally, for me,it was mainly the boredom and similar monotony of these dreamy compositions or jams. Nonetheless,Frank Zappa's catalog was probably too huge for many to comprehend. And,probably too immense for a single lifetime to yield.
amazing
Had never seen that interview with Napoleon. Thanks rab !
Who the HELL would hate on George Duke?!?!
Right..? But it seems to be a sport.
racist guys
I know of nobody who hates George Duke.
George is a very nice man it seems screw people
@@jackziemer8538 What does that mean.
Wow. Just wow!
Even in Steve Vai's newest music, the influence of Zappa never leaves him.
5:53 Ugh that fill <3
The low action buzz he has on that Ibanez lol
Lolwut? Is that Adrian Belew playing rhytm? Never knew Zappa had him in his band too!
