My son recommended me get a concrete mix 3 years ago when he saw me putting my mix together. My husband found one on Craigslist list. Gee what a difference.
Oh yeah, I do cattle fences, corals, and a bunch of other stuff. When at the farm, an electric generator and I'm golden. Thank you.
Love this video. Can you tell me if the screws are #8, 9 or 10 in size?
Deck screws use T-25 bit. 10 gauge screws.
Thanks so much
Thank you. Have a great week.
Sir,my dragon fruit plant is three years old.. last year I got two healthy fruits...but this year not a single flower bloom..... what could be the cause...my dragon fruit plants are growing in pots on terrace garden 🏡
Its hard to say, could be soil, pot size, fertilizing, tipping Etc. Hit my profile picture, Click on my dragon fruits, that will take you to my channel and click the MORE. You will see my email address and send me an email with some photos of your plant. I will be glad to help you out.
Do you ever sell cuttings? Im in SA
Sorry, I'm not currently selling any cutting.
Enjoyed your video. I like your squeeze and shape method. Since watching your video I stopped tipping. I got my first flowers that produced fruit. Sjj hi could be picking them soon. What part of Texas are you?
Pollinating last few nights in Bay Area. Looks good pop.🍻
How nice, how many have you had to pollinate. I hope they all take.
@@TexasDragonFruit A few dozen, and probably about that many left. Hopefully tonight or at least b4 Monday.

Interesting
It works well if you want to assist your branches down.
Thank you so much for showing how to bend branches.
Please follow along with with us. We will be posting more tips on how to grow your DF plants to help our viewers out. Thank you.
Sir, does draginfruit plant go to dormanacy in monsoon, like do they slowdown on growth in rainy season, we are facing heavy monsoon right now.
Where are you from. If your weather is warm or hot they will not stop growing. Are they in ground or in pots, can you control the amount of water they get. Normally all plant will slow down growth during the colder months. I can recommend that you spray fungicide on them after it rains to protect them from rust. If they are in ground plant them in soil mound to allow the roots to be above any flooding to prevent Root rot. Hope this help. Feel free to ask any questions. Thank you.
What temperature you have there sir? Mine are looking shrinked. We have 40 degress celcius 😮
for the past week we have been at or over 38 Celsius. I have been doing top watering every 2 days. Just enough to wet about 3 to 4 inches deep but I have moved some into a bit more shade. You can use some burlap to cover from direct sunlight if you dont have shade trees.
Amazing information. Greetings from Malta.
Thank you.
i did the bending thing .i like it so much and i broke only 1 branch :) , ty for the info...
I'm glad It worked out for you, I have broken a few, but they will continue to grow. Thank you for commenting and viewing our channel. Have a great week.
Useful tip on bending the branch by squeezing. Will surely try it on mine. Greetings from Brunei.
Hope it works out for you, You will get the hand of it. I have broken a few but they will survive and continue to grow. Looks like you have the perfect environment to grow them in Brunei.
Thanks for showing how to bend branches. I always had question on how to do that without breaking it. Now I can try your technique.
Just go slow, they will break some times and that is ok as long as the core is not totally broken they will continue to grow. Happy growing.
Nice information. Good to see the plants we donated to your channel thrive.
Thank you Paul, we could not have started without your generosity. Please check out Paul's YT channels, What plant is that Paul and Rare Dragon Fruit. His links has been added to several other videos. We received Quality cutting from Paul and they all rooted well and are thriving. We were even able to produce fruit on them at 7 months.
Thanks for the tip
Hope it helps you out.

NBL, Its all about the love. We are really close and always share stuff. I went home with 3 fruits. Thank for stopping by you ready to start growing some.
Thank you for your generosity. those little techniques will help me out to my dragon fruit journey. here in Florida.
There are many different way to train or mold your branches but I have always liked this method on new plants. Once your canopy is established they will form into it.

if you don't Tipping you dragon Fruit you have buds, but you will not have a lot of buds! my dragon fruit with tipping 15 buds or more one brand.Every one do different way.
Yes, I dont tip my new main branches to allow them to grow. I will tip them once they get close to the ground or a bit over 4 feet.
I put mine in storage during winter, when brought out of storage, they really took off
Nice. Im in the RVG area, I had my plants outside for over 18 years and nothing ever happened to them.. But its not the same anymore. So I planted them in pots to move under a protected area during the winter.
I am in Corpus Christi
San Juan.
Cover the dragon fruit with burlap, if your plants are in full sun. This will keep them from yellowing
They are doing great, I just moved them out of partially shaded area today. I will monitor them for chlorosis Thanks.
Straight sand works great also
Yes, but it had no nutritional value and you have to continually feed them. I have tried it in the past.
What kind of fertilizer do you use
I credit my plant growth to the potting mix. I have been using our cattle hay dump piles of composted cow manure that has been composting for years. It has lots of sandy soil. I have only fed my plants once or twice since I potted them in the large pots. My new plants get about 4 oz. of 10-10-10 or 13-13-13 time release on the edge of the pots. This has helped with growth. Good luck and thank you for supporting us.
How you protect your dragon fruit plants in winter time in Texas?
DalMacio, I had plants in the Rio Grande Valley leaning on my wood picked fence for over 18 years and nothing ever happened to them in our area. We had on bad freeze 3 years back and I was not here and lost them all. So I put them in pots this year and will roll them into a cover porch with some heaters if I need.
ty for the info, keep it up :)
Thank you, I hope you enjoyed. More to come.
Hi Texas 🙏 from Bharat 🇮🇳
Thank you, and hope you have a great week.
My dragon fruit tree has fruits but the fruits brown and fall out or the buds turn yellow and dropped, too. May you let me know what should I need to to safe my dragon flowers or buds. Looking forward from your response. Thanks again
There are many reasons flower fruit buds fall. Plant health, fertilization, clustered plants, youth of plants, Insects, heat, watering just so many reasons. Your plants want to survive and will drop as many flowers as needed to continue to grow. So keep an eye on feeding and watering them during budding. good luck.
@@TexasDragonFruit thank you so much for your responded. Have a good weekend
I thought when the buds are yellow they are aborting
Not during the initial sprout. they will turn yellowish mid way like a week or two later. I just returned from a trip to California, looking at Dragon fruit growers farms. This morning looking a my plants I seen a bad fruit bud yellow and I know it will fall off or I will pluck it off. Why did it fail, stress, waster, heat, insects, Its hard to tell why but the plants will shed them to provide for itself. Thank you and have a great week.
Thanks ❤🎉😮🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Thank you, I hope you enjoyed the video and plant a few more dragon fruits. Have a great week.
I have a dragon fruit plant that is growing all the way up a cabbage palm. It gave fruit but it didn’t last year. I’m new to your channel. I’m happy that I found you. Hoping I can learn and grow more fruits.
Jacqueline, I hope I can help. Have you pruned your plant. During the end of your colder season is best, If you can cut some of the tips on the older branches, this will help promote new branches or buds. You want them to hang over and downwards. Nitrogen deficiency can cause also slow growth, and a lack of phosphorus can hinder flower production. Good luck and I hope this helps and Thank you.
What do you feed your dragon fruit
I feed them very little fertilizer as they are in a high composted cow manure potting mix. So I know urea is high at this point and I feed little phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) to promote budding as well. So I could say a formula of 13-13-13 but not much like half a cup around the outer base of the pot once every 90 days. You need to feed on your plants needs, I have new soil in my pots that has high urea so watch your urea amounts. If its growing fast add more phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) to help promote buds. Good luck, and Thank You.
Great video. I only tip if they are reaching the ground or started to grow new segment. If the branch is growing vigorously as 1 segment, I don't tip as you have done. By the way, what is your soil made of abd what fertilizer you using?
I farm and Ranch and have cattle. Our hay feed piles, I get the outer composted sand/soil from it. Compost cow manure. My older plants I use 13-13-13. It is a 90 day time release coated fertilizer. If you click on my channel Icon and look at my videos, I have a Video explaining what I use as the soil mix for my pots. Good luck and thank you.
Thank you sir for useful information, highly appreciated!
You are welcome, Hope it helped you out.
Highly appreciated sir!!!
Thank you, I hope you follow along and continue to comment. Sorry for not commenting earlier, I have been out in California for a week visiting other growers.
It is convincing and thank you very much. I think its an excellent idea for those who are growing dragon fruit in their kitchen garden. Thank you so much.
Yes it is. I have a friend that had 20 acres of Dragon fruits plants and he did the same for early production and sales. it works on new plants. of course once your plants are established you should tip for higher fruit production. Thank you and have a great week.
Yes, that bit about the branches getting too heavy and breaking near the top of the trellis at the inflection point is why tipping is recommended. That and the fact that from the cut, multiple new branches will grow. One thing that might be helpful is to not have a sharp edge on the trellis top. I'm just thinking if there's a way to provide a smoother, rounder surface when the branch turns downward. I don't really have any great ideas, but that may also be why some people use old motorcycle tires.
Yes they break and having a larger rounder base will help them from breaking. I will show you how to fix this on my next video so they dont break off. thank you for commenting and hope to see you back. Have a great week.
Very helpful!!! Thank you!
Thank you. I hope you enjoyed the video. I have more buds happening.
Nice video. Very helpful on how to manipulate our DF. As a new grower I am interested in maintaining my plants in the best way. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with your channel my new friend.
Thank you, These are just some Ideas that I can share with viewer's. If left naturally they will find a way to go down themselves and you can move them around a bit. Thank you for commenting and following.
Great video! Can’t wait until my DF start to Bud
Thank you Jacob, hope to see you back soon.
Not necessarily the dragon fruit plant has to weigh 10 pounds, i just rooted a cutting that is producing flower buds. Love your videos, spicy exotics recommend the same, not to cut the tops of your dragon fruit and lose the opportunity to have buds the same year.
Hi, I am in Houston TX. Would you say full sun all day until dust here is better than having evening shade.
I have always provided some shade for my plants by placing them at the edge of a tree line. Not full shad but partial during the peak of the noon heat and sun. If your plants aren't turning yellow, I would say you are ok. but if you notice chlorosis on some varieties you should supply some shade on them. Good luck.
@@TexasDragonFruit awesome thanks for the tip. How often are you watering the dragon fruit here in the heat of summer in Houston TX?
@@marcusnguyen3185 Marcus, they like moisture. I'm not sure how big your pots are but you should feel some moisture on them most of the summer time. Its hard to say on the potting mix you have. Just keep them most. Not dripping wet all the time.
Where did you source all your cuttings from?
Jacob from several well know growers, like Nature With Alik and What Plant is that, Paul on RUclips.

@@RidingWiithJacob Nice have you receive them. I recommend you go strait to your trellis if you have good weather and you can provide some shade.
The biggest mistake I've made that i tipped off the branches .... im not doing that anymore.
I am with you 100%. I will tip them in a few weeks one's I have several branches grow out of them.
You are fortunate to have .money to build those things , how nice, and the nice level land. Thanks to Jesus our Savior.
Thank you for commenting I appreciate it. My Hard work help me afford these things.
I've tried both. I think prefer tipping because you can let it grow a few inches above the trellis then tip. You can tie the main branch closely to the trellis. New branches will grow downward and outwards. When I didn't tip, it would flop over and be branches will start growing upwards and in every direction. It's messier and harder to manage. The canopy would be less uniform. This is more important for people with small yards and have their trellises close to each other. I'm willing to sacrifice earlier fruit for better branch structure. Plus the plant can focus on growth for that year if they don't produce fruit.
Thank you for commenting, There are so many options, I dont disagree with you. It's what ever works best for your needs. I am letting people know that Its an option they have and letting them know that it will sprout new branched even if they dont tip. For me no tipping has worked best, till the branch is finished sprouting new branches.
I’m still new to it all but since I have a few seedlings to mess with I’m going to see how short a DF can fruit if trimmed at the right height. I feel like even if the fruit was smaller it’d be a cool idea for smaller patios
