This video shows you how to make a strike indicator from a ordinary drinking straw.
I like this idea but what mite work better would be J.B. weld 6 minute set epoxy it would allow more time to center it while it is setting and after curing add the proper amount of weight for it to spin.

Nice! I've been experimenting with ear plugs but this idea might even be better! Wonder how long a biodegradable straw would last before it became too degraded in the water you're fishing in?

You need to learn the easier and better way to do this.
Well done but more plastic in the ecosystem would not be allowed in many of our pristine rivers down-under in NZ. A biodegradable straw would solve that! Regards.
I was thinking of one like that with a soda straw and a loop of copper wire at one end, then came looking to see if anybody had already done it. Rubber band is a cool idea. Could use uv cement if you don't have a glue gun in your fly tying kit.

Hi, the size of the elastic doesn't really matter, it's the kind that's is used in clothing. Mine was a bit narrow. 5mm would be great. As you can see, the tube is cut of a plastic q-tip.

Ive been making baits for 40 years and it takes a lot to get me fired up and im tellen ya this stuff is way cool!
I make my eyes with uv glue its way faster and you can inspect each eye for bubbles then zap it with the light and pow its hard as a rock
Another guy on utube said using uv light leaves the expoxy not so clear better with heat gun. Just saying what I saw. Great easy way you have with the less time frame. Nice.
This is not epoxy. This is UV curing resin. if you don't use the UV light the resin will not harden...

Hey man, Dat is een mooie kajak. Lijkt mezelf ook wel wat. Hoe bevalt de kayak en wat was/is de prijs? Verder,....rustig doorgaan en vis vangen. succes en tight lines
Sorry voor de late reactie dutchflyfisher. De kayak bevalt mij erg goed. Is zeer stabiel en ik denk dat als ik er een harde bodem van hout in maak dat ik er wel in kan staan, al is dat voor mij geen prio. De kayak kost nieuw volgens mij zo rond de €500. Ik heb hem tweedehands op de kop kunnen tikken voor 150€. Ik wil er nog wel een hoger zitje in maken zodat ik vanaf een hoger perspectief in het water kan kijken.
Hey dutchman, In ieder geval bedankt voor je antwoord. De prijs heb ik inmiddels bij leveranciers gezien en ligt op ruim 550 ex peddels en pomp. Het lijkt me een goede boot om vanuit te vissen en nog enigszins betaalbaar. Zeker weten doe ik het niet maar de beelden lijken op de Flevopolder!? Het buizenframe is demontabel wat je hebt gemaakt? Het frame verstevigt de boot? Ehm,.....als je iets haakt hopelijk alleen vis en niet de boot. Zelf woon ik in de Flevopolder en misschien kunnen we samen een keer vlagvissen. Ik doe een gok,....we zijn zo ongeveer de zelfde leeftijd. greetings and tight lines. René
