Update, future plans, and ramble on both the 51 Chevy and 3rd Gen Camaro
I talk about a lot of the improvement I made to both of these vehicles, just for someone that hasn't been watching and isn't familiar with them. Talk about the Motor swaps, transmission swaps, truck rear end, electrical and LS stuff...as well as some other do-dads...
I then talk quickly about the future for the truck and what I need to do to make this a registered truck, as well as the next big project for the 1991 3rd gen Camaro.

I wonder if a flow restricter in the pump would help with the steering on the truck.

This is the video I have been hoping to find for a year now. I'm doing a TH350 swap on my T5 3rd gen, same shifter as yours. Any chance you could give any info on what issues you ran into? Such as mounting the shifter, wiring... it would be much appreciated sir!
Cool! No issues that I remember with any wiring. As for the mounting, other than what I griped about, It was just such a tight fit with the console. And trying to seal the existing hole the T5 had in the tunnel. Used some flexible rubber sheeting , couple sheet metal screws, and quite a bit of silicone sealant. Don't feel bad about modifying what you need, most will be hidden anyways !
@@dilligaf9199 Much appreciated sir, thank you!

Thought about shaving off a little on the wheel-well (spell check😂) for the turbo n exhaust system
Spoiler Alert: I was able to install a turbo without cutting wheel-well (spelling?) . I did have to cut the battery box floor...
It was your mounts and K member. The engine needed to move. Your trans mount gets in the way of the exhaust too.
Very similar to my set up, my engine and trans is out of 05 Escalade, (LQ9 / 4L65E) with a sloppy 2 cam and built trans, with "Beast" shell. then the ECU is out of my old 2004 express 3500, these allow you all the flexibility for adding things like future E85 etc. Runs real strong pure joy. I did spend the money for a Speartech custom wiring set, super quality and support. I used a OEM duel set of fans from Hawks seem to work good. Looking good, wish you well.
Sounds like a heck of a build!! I'm working that way...
Got a kick out of the fact you did the exact same "custom" power steering reservoir (3:40) install I did, worked perfectly. However, you gave me the willies cranking on the engine for oil pressure, my opinion, should always PRE-LUBE the oil system FIRST. I spent the money and bought a pressure oil tank just for this application, cheap insurance. Access plug bottom left of block.
You're correct on the pre-lube before the cranking, but.... Impatience is a MF'er. It'll take a massacre before i learn... Thanks for watching and commenting !
Anyone with any common sense should agree that this is how these cars should have come from the factory with an access panel so that dropping the tank in the suspension and exhaust could all be avoided!! I'm going to be doing this soon to my 94 Firehawk and I don't feel bad about it whatsoever!!! Great video.😇⚡🔥🦅
All the hate I hear when people do this kills me... Thanks for the support 👍
@@dilligaf9199 I just don't get why people would want to go through all of that when it can be avoided by simply making an access panel.🤷
One problem you might want to take care of is the barely noticeable split in your rad hose.
Both top and bottom were purposely cut to shorten them up. I got an aluminum piece to splice together.
Thanks 👍
Hell yeah 👍
I used the remote PS reservoir from my van, slightly customizing the mount, and then my two original Camaro PS lines lined right up and threaded in perfectly. My engine is an LQ9 from an Escalade, and front accessories from my 04 Express van I parted out.
I went ahead and purchased a complete Eng. / Trans harness from Speartech, yes I had to spend some money but it is perfect, and looks great, I had to skip some of the DIY just to keep the project moving, Kudos to you for going for it.
Did a "Hatch" access on mine and was so glad I did, works perfectly. I used Rivet Nuts with a rubber seal, but same basic result, mine is simply a removable cover.
Looks good.
Did this with mine two years ago, worked perfectly, sheathed my POS wire and used an AGM Batt.
I about had a heart attack when you were talking about taking a dremmel tool to the dash! 😅
LMAO!! 🤣 Not my proudest moment...
I just stumbled upon this vid after buying some cheapo eBay headers for my swap in my 3rd gen. They are almost 100% identical to these.
I totally agree that Ebay (and Amazon) has 'knockoffs' that are probably made by same companies. I always do a quick search and alot of times i chicken out on taking the risk on a deal. Good to hear you found a good one!!
Excellent products !! NOW-who’s the smart ass that loads the box w/pop corn 😎
Did you have to drill out the truck’s gauge hole or did you put them through the back of the dash?
No modifications were needed. They fit just as expected once I figured out how to to install correctly.
What kind of crossmember? And where did you get it from?
PARacing. If you google you shoud be able to find them..
The tight working space makes this mod a pain in the neck. It's a real knuckle buster of a job. But still not as bad as dropping the rear i suppose. I'm considering notching the tank in the future to give a little more head space.
I need a link for these exact headers
I think this??? speed-engineering.com/collections/1982-1992-camaro-firebird-headers-exhaust/products/ls-swap-camaro-firebird-headers-1982-92-third-gen-f-body-ls1-ls2-ls3-ls6-m2
Just outta curiosity, why didn’t you just use the gray old gray wire for the power and then use the same ground to power the pump? That way you didn’t have to drill into the top hat or wire the rest of it?
If i remember correctly, the black and grey were a smaller gauge wire than what I was wanting. That, and I already had that fancy connector made up.
This is the best video I have seen for headers. Been looking for a header that would stay tight to the block in a long tube for an odd project. Can't find measurements or fitment at all even for those that do install don't go under the car. I appreciate that you did show the whole exhaust.
Question for you on this, my 16 year old worked and bought himself a 86 Camaro for a project car, 2.8 v6 thankfully, you know how teenagers are, anyway fuel pump is bad, opened it all up pulled it out and found the wires inside twisted together with wire nuts, is it safe?
I wouldn't recommend leaving it that way. Esp. if you already have it pulled apart and have access. If you dont want to use a solder gun and heat shrink., I have seen butt splices (if i remember correctly) that you can crimp and has a bit of solder and heat shrink tubing as part of the butt splice. you can use a lighter (?) to melt and finish the joint. Dont take shortcuts when you already at this point, No matter how easy you think it is now, you will not want to pull that pump out again...
Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it, I saw your comment this morning and my son and I got right to it, we soldered it and heat shrinked it the way you did and it worked out really well, I appreciate you taking the time to comment and let me know 😎😎😎
Fyi it's totally safe. I've had mine wire nutted for years. And to prove my point, you drove it home like that right? 🤷♂️
I’m doing the same swap
How are you going to hook up the shifter linkage? That’s what I need help with.
I've got a Hurst shifter with cable linkage. I believe I have a trans video that briefly shows it.
Terrific video What I did when installing my LS with a AR5 5 speed transmission is I installed the engine and transmission then I hooked up my drive line and that established where my engine needed to be. Then I didn’t have to get a new drive line it works perfectly

My trans mount gave me a little trouble too but, finally fit. I went with a "built" 4L65E (with a clutch shell called the Beast) that is good for 500+ HP, because I had a 4L80 but man it was huge and extremely heavy. Good luck.

Should stagger the cuts in lines?
If you're referring to stagger cut the tubing, your right, it made it tough to squeeze fittings in there
Your sub frame twisted, where? Where we cut to replace fuel pump 😅
Fuel pump was located internal to the tank
I didn't see anything protecting the plastic interior being showered with spark 😢

Overall width is 30.5" : height is 18.5" and the ends are 3" thick/deep. The actual cooling core is 2 1/4". Is this what you were looking for?
