Incredible LIGHT out of NOWHERE | Sunrise Woodland Photography
#woodlandphotography #landscapephotography #naturephotography
I can never resist heading out when a forecast for mist or fog is showing on the weather apps. This morning I'd accepted that it wasn't meant to be - having driven through the forest in almost perfect visibility and walked off into the woods with little expectation.
Shortly before sunrise mist started to show, and within about five minutes thick fog was rolling in across the heathland into the forest. The morning quickly spiralled into a manic shoot as dramatic light broke through the fog in fleeting moments - some of the best conditions I've experienced in the New Forest.

A Year In The New Forest
Просмотров 840Год назад
#newforest #naturefilm #music I've lacked the time, energy and motivation to go out with the camera lately, though I had a moment of reflection and took a look back at my first full year in the New Forest. This video is just a compilation of some of very favourite clips in the forest to some chilled music. I hope it shows off some of the landscapes and wildlife in the forest, through the season...

#wildcamping #wildcamp #jurassiccoast In this video I head out for a quick winter wild camp on Dorset's Jurassic Coast. I head to a familiar area but pick a new spot to pitch the tent. I had no expectations for photography conditions given the forecast, but got a dramatic sunset and some beautiful colours. Hope you enjoy!

#newforest #woodlandphotography #landscapephotography With motivation grinding to an all time low, I head out with the hope for some foggy conditions for some woodland photography. The weather didn't disappoint and I had one of my favourite shoots in sometime. #newforest #woodlandphotography #winter In the second cold snap of winter in the New Forest I head out before work to try and get some images. As so often when the conditions deliver I'm faced with one of the common problems photographers face - deciding what to point to the camera at. Frost, ice and a beautiful colourful sky had me rushing around like a madman, though I'm happy to have come aw...
ICM Photography in Wild Weather!

#icm #seascape #storm In this video I head down to the coast to take in the stormy weather and practice some ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) photography. It was challenging conditions in wind and rain, with a lot of sea spray sweeping across the beach - although I do absolutely love this kind of weather. I had some ideas in mind on what kind of images I was hoping to achieve, and while I fail...

#newforest #woodlandphotography #landscapephotography Another video from the December cold snap. This was my last morning of four consecutive sunrises to make the most of the conditions. It was a heavily overcast morning with dull light, thick frost and lots of ice - my kinda weather! I spent the full morning out in one of my favourite areas in the New Forest, and got a mix of images of classic...
Autumn Colours in Winter Light | Woodland Photography

#newforest #winterphotography #woodlandphotography I head out for another sunrise during the UK's sub zero cold snap in December. Although I was plagued by equipment issues, it was a beautiful morning and I came away with some of my favourite winter images to date. Some resilient autumn colours showed through the frost and ice, which created some stunning soft scenes in the New Forest.

This was my first time down back to the coast since summer and didn't realise how much I missed it. Thes...
Making the most of RARE CONDITIONS | Woodland Photography

#newforest #woodlandphotography #landscapephotography With the UK under a layer of ice, I head out in the New Forest to do some woodland photography. It was very, very cold which resulted in some amazing hoar frost on the trees. These conditions don't come around too often, and so I spent a full morning tramping around the forest with the camera. One shot in particular, may be one of my favouri...
AMAZING ORANGUTAN ENCOUNTERS | Trekking and Photography in Sumatra

In November 2022 I spent a week trekking in Gunung Leuser National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia in hopes of seeing the enangered orangutans. It was an incredible experience and we saw ten orangutans across the trek! This included some really amazing encounters, in which I got some images I was really happy with. It was my first wildlife photography mission and it really worked out great. If you w...

#deer #thenewforest #autumnphotography On a beautiful misty morning I head out to one of my favourite spots in the New Forest. The target was to see some of the deer during the rut, and I was not disappointed. As the morning drew on I turned my focus to landscape photography and took one of my favourite images this year - a panoramic of birches catching the morning sunlight.

Wistmans wood certainly wouldn't look out of place in Lord of the Rings. Just beautiful.
Don't add letter g at the end of orangutan. Orang means people. Hutan or utan means jungle/forest Hutang or utang means debt
Thought I was quite clear in my pronunciation of orangutan 😁 thanks for watching!
Very nice 🙂👍
Thank you!!
Beautifully created. Informative and pleasant to watch. And my second time watching 😊 Subbed Thank you ❤
Thank you so much Sandra! Glad you enjoyed
Great video and fantastic shots, well worth the effort nice one.
Thanks James! Much appreciated

Really enjoyed that, thank you
Thank you!!

Well done great video and the shots you took, thanks for the clingwrap tip, greetings from South Africa.
Thanks Dave! Much appreciated, thank you for watching
Great video. I visited the place in 2019 but there was no fog. Any suggestions on what months to visit to have the possibility of fog?
Hey thanks much appreciated! I've only been the one time and so was very lucky.. generally I think spring and autumn are your best bets.. October/November would most likely have the best chance of fog when not too windy.
@@maxtakesphotos Many Thanks for your reply.
I’m trying to tell you some black figure is hiding behind the tree
Absolutely stunning photography
Thanks Sandra! Much appreciated :)
Learn to pronounce the names correctly. I am Sumatran and I speak fluent multilingual without weird accent. Don't add letter g at the end of orangutan. Orang means people. Hutan or utan means jungle/forest Hutang or utang means debt #orangutan
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching :)
Keep taking photos and making videos you doughnut 👌🏻
Glad to see a new vlog buddy! That’s some epic chase 😁 stunning shots as usual
Thanks man! Hope you're keeping well! I need to catch up on your vlogs, looks like you've been doing quite some travelling!
Almost arousing 😂 nice one max keep it up!! 👍✌️
😆😆 Cheers mate 🤙
Absolutely worth doing what you're doing. Great shots. Just don't feel pressured to please an algorithm; keep yourself happy first and the subscribers will start to multiply.
Thanks Iain! Yes right on :)
Hi Max, that was a nice surprise to see a new video landing - and what a stunner! Absolutely beautiful light and moods captured.
Thanks Lisa! Really lucked out with the weather in this one, good start to get back into it :)
The only way you learn is from your mistakes. You had a great idea by trying to capture the sun’s rays coming through the forest. The only problem was the conditions were never gonna let that happen for you, but you made the best of it! You continue on and march forward. I think the images you took looking straight towards the sun came out fantastic!
Thanks Bradley.. much appreciated! Yep the weather kept me guessing throughout in this one
Here's your comment to kick you up the butt to keep taking pictures: KEEP TAKING PICTURES 🖤🤘🏻
Thanks.. much appreciated 💪
Very ethereal images, a Forest run and some time appreciating the nature around you........all whilst "running and gunning" for RUclips! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Haha was a fun one, glad you enjoyed
Loved this, esp your panic 😂 and the pics were well worth it, truly beautiful
Thanks :)
Proud to be your 420th subscriber due to this vid. I love the calm, easy way about you. Very soothing just like the rain.
Tami, thanks so much! Much appreciated 🙏

Lovely video. Just wish I could afford to move back there!
Thanks Chris! it's a shame it's so expensive
Superb. Just keep doing what you're doing !
Thanks Iain, appreciate it!
Beautiful film, Max. The shots you took were mesmerising 😁 hope you get back the creative juices flowing and it’s fine to take a break, I do it all the time! All the best buddy.
Thanks dude! Hope you're keeping well
This is magical. Your love for the forest and the creatures within shines through in every scene - beautifully shot and put together ❤️
Thank you - much appreciated :)
Beautiful video, this is exactly what I needed to watch with a morning coffee :D it doesn't matter you don't have motivation lately, you can see you had a lot of motivation, travel, and photos from this video, and it's ok to take a break
Thanks Toma! I'm just waiting for spring now and I'll be back on it :)
Excellent! Great photos and better storytelling. Well done.
Thanks for the kind comment Michael! Glad you enjoyed the video
Ohhh you just crossed 400 mark! Almost 500 now, keep it up buddy 😁 another enjoyable watch man. That is some solid camp! Quite enjoyed your minimalist-ish compositions with the tele.
Cheers man! Still got some way to go to catch you up!! Will watch your Czech video tomorrow, you've been on some travels recently! 👌
Great content and interesting landscape. I love your work.
Thanks Michael - really appreciate it!
Nice shots and great video. Some of my favourite images don’t have any foreground
Thank you!! Me too but I do like them at the coast, lucky had some nice colours at least!
Always worth chancing it during the winter, if there's a dry patch. Apart from dog walkers you get it pretty much to yourself, even on a tourist trail. Personally I'm not bothered about foreground. I think the most successful landscape photo's attempt simplicity and try to avoid one of the three: foreground, middle distance or background. Most difficult to miss out the middle distance, but it is possible if you use the lay of the land or get your camera down low.
Hi Iain, I generally agree though must say down by the coast is probably my favourite time to include a nice foreground.. though as always you shoot what you see!
Great video as always mate. Super chill, and some nice pics too 👌🏻
Thanks mate
Love your videos Max but not that close to the edge!! 🙈
Don't worry, the whole video was recorded in a studio in Woking
@@maxtakesphotos 😂
Nice one.. alwasy the case when you least expect the sunsets to happen like that - but a brucy bonus on a camp night for sure. I saw that Church on someone's vlog a little while ago so know the area you are in. What tent have you got Max, looks to be some nice headroom - I can't stand low down coffin like ones , used to have a wild country zephros 2 and it was too claustraphobic for my likening. atb Al
Hi Al! Yeah always a nice touch when you get a break of light! The tent is a naturehike mongar 2 (can get on Amazon), it's basically a total rip off of the MSR Hubba Hubba for a quarter of the price. The design is great, lots of space and the weight is very good. My one is pretty wrecked now, it's definitely not a tent you want in moderate to high winds (couple nights at 40mph + have completely warped the frame in almost every place), so would recommend more as a fair weather tent for sure. They do another called the cloud peak which is meant to be more solid... I wouldn't be surprised if they all come out of the same factory as the MSR ones to be honest
@@maxtakesphotos I thought it was a naturehike because of the colour, I have the Star River 2 which is a copy of a Big Agnes tent - does me fine as I love lots of room. I wouldn't take it up a mountain though unless it was a still night.Have thought about getting a Cloud Peak as they are meant to be sturdier. I don't do enough camping to spend big money on a tent - I need a lighter sleeping bag these days too - my Alpkit Sky high 900 weighs a tonne and my lightweight bag has been pinched by my lad.
Great shots. I am surprised you were allowed in as Rangers normally stop people from entering now.
Thanka Carl! I wasn't aware that it may be closed, certainly no signage or anything suggesting when I was there - and not a soul in sight!
@@maxtakesphotos Yeah they closed it in either 2020 or 2021 due to the amount of visitors who didn't respect the place. You might have been lucky due to the time you were there.
Nice one max yes I tried different locations in the new forest on them foggy days keep them coming 👍
Thanks Rob! Hope you got some nice shots (and out this morning?) The fog was crazy earlier
Technically you're right with ISO (International Standards Organisation) but as it really is a misnomer with digital, it harks back to film sensitivity, as there is no international standard of 'gain' in sensors from one manufacturer to another its a pointless bit of info. Canon's iso 400 is not the same from one Canon make of digital sensor to another, let alone to Sony or Fuji etc. (of course you know that the sensor doesn't get more 'sensitive' the more you up the iso, its really the same as upping the gamma on your monitor). The mist/fog thing had been frustrating me for years, every time you walk towards it it dissipates; until somebody pointed out it works exactly the same as heat haze or atmospheric recession. The more distance between you and the visual horizon the more atmosphere there is to be distorted by conditions. Blindingly obvious but until last month I just kept walking towards that darned elusive Scotch Mist. You do incredibly well just making as many vlogs as you do. I know a lot of people have nearly given up completely due to workload. I hope its not interfering with your career prospects.
Thanks Iain! Very interesting.. and something I didn't know, thanks for the info! Haha yes with the mist and fog, I think that's why quite.often a long lens is the way to go. Although saying that this morning was incredibly dense fog but unfortunately work took precedence this time!
Fair play for getting out before work so often - don’t know how you do it. Hopefully you’re past the January blues now. Shot at 10:37 is a banger 👌🏻
Cheers mate!
Also, loved all of the images, especially the white veined tree square
Thank you :)
I think everyone stagnates a little at this time of year (I know I have)... keep going and maybe don’t overthink too much..
Yeah.. the curse of January! Thanks Derek!
I work full time too and I think this sometimes adds extra pressure in lots of ways
Great video. Sometimes, I’ve found external stuff has an impact on how I feel about my photography even if we don’t notice it at the time. I’ve just a recent burst of inspiration and motivation, after a long lull. I absolutely love and admire your videography and photography skills as well as you as a person.
Yeah I think you're right! Glad to hear your inspiration/motivation is back. Thank you for the lovely comment as always
nice conditions Max 👍
They were great! Looks like this week is bringing more frost and fog.. hoping tomorrow comes through!
