Rough-rider brand fire starter from ebay seller ecop showing the unusable striker that comes with it. Bar is fine, striker is unusable quality, bendable, and will not produce a spark. I have four other brands that work great - and the strikers of those otherbrands work find on this bar. Ebay seller ecop wanted me to change my review with zero response to my critique. Don't think so.....

Morning flight over the cottage with Kai Deng K70 and Sjcam 4000. It was breezy so it was hard to get long shots before having to fly and move the scene.

Kai Deng K70 loss of control - huge lag response to rudder 1 minute into the flight - watch it spin as I try to get control - a bit at first and then really bad. Finally killed transmitter. The acceleration away at the end is because once I had it not spinning and apparently facing me I tried to fly back but it's clear it was facing the wrong way - it so far out I could not tell. I figured abor...

    What one burns longer on the same amount of fuel?

      I have not actually done a duration test! Now I think I will and update.

    I usually pump ten times then start it and as soon as it's getting blue flame then I pump another 10-15 times. with that, it is less yellow flame and less black carbon stick on outside of the generator.

    My daughter suggested trying the coleman start up at 1/2 flame or less, and it really works much better. I ran these with premium unleaded fuel as well and it works fine but the stoves are stinky when not running.

    Is that stock camera, or did you put some other instead of the one you've bought it with?

      +David Kirinic I used the SJCAM 4000 instead of the stock camera.

      ***** Camera survived?

    • @patmalone6858
      @patmalone6858 8 лет назад

      +David Kirinic The camera survived just fine. It was snow melting on the hot motherboard that shorted and fried one motor controller. To find the quad after flyaway, I wandered along the sighting path and bound and powered up listening for the rotors. When I got it back to the car, it had a pretty bad fried electronics spell, and I found a disconnected power lead and blackend components on the motherboard. So I have spare parts for the new one I ordered yesterday ;-)

    Sorry to hear of your K70 mishap. Stuff happens. We've all been there. Is that a leg sticking out into the image on the left and why is it in the image? Did you have trouble mounting the camera?

    • @patmalone6858
      @patmalone6858 8 лет назад

      +Henry G The leg shows up in the camera frame when you point the camera downward. This is using the SJCAM 4000 and not the stock camera.

    Nice piloting! My K70C is on the way and I wanted something that could lift a gopro clone. And for less than a battery costs for a DJI, it looks like you found it! You got some nice aerial footage of your (nice) house and the pines (reminds me of Prescott, AZ). Hard landing aside I would have wrapped it around a tree within seconds of liftoff! My Syma X5C being my trainer. I think the headless mode will be put to good use for me at first. Thanks for posting. No Jello so that's nice!

      +Davis Denton Thanks. That was a nerve wracking flight. I won't fly that quad around the house again. (There are several smaller units stuck in those trees). And sadly, I had a fly-away-crash-in-snow a week or so ago that led to a wet fried motherboard. So I'm K70C-less currently.

    What kind of wires did use use... just to be sure.

    • @patmalone6858

      Chili Dog It is wire from an old rj11 phone line cable. I just harvested two of the wires - red and black for reference.

      Chili Dog Hi Pat, I just finished doing the Syma X11 headlight mod with the clear blue led's I got from Amazon and it says it requires 3 to 3.2 v. Did everything like you said except I didn't solder the wires to the pads on the board... I soldered them to the leads going to the pads so I wouldn't accidently fry something... same thing electrically. Plugged in the battery and it don't work. All the other lights work but not the headlight mod. I checked the voltage just to see and it's getting between 1 and 2v... it varies as it blinks on and off but it's not getting the 3v it needs... none of them do. I used a fresh charged stock battery... any ideas and thanks

    What is the voltage of your 5mm LED ?

    • @patmalone6858
      @patmalone6858 9 лет назад

      Rick Williams The package I ordered from amazon had these: Forward Voltages are Clear Red, Orange and Yellow 1.9-2.0V, Clear Green: 2.9-3.1V, Clear Blue, White, Pink and Violet: 3.0-3.2V.

    This modification to the Syma X11 quadcopter to include a front headlight greatly enhances night flying orientation. Note on the fake bulb drilling, I used a 5/16 drill bit for the hole to hold the fake headlight and a 3/16 drill bit for the actual hole to hold the 5mm LED.
