Sir, cowards don't run at each other with nothing but swords, daggers, axes, and shields with arrows flying in every direction and bludgeon each other to death. If that's a coward, then I wonder what you are lmao😂
It was rumored by many that Ragnar Lothbroks line was directly descended from Odin the AllFather. Ivar was convinced and proclaimed himself to be a god amongst the many. As we see at the beginning of the video Ivar the powerful, the boneless, seems to be controlling his warriors as though he were God. As such, in the heat of the moment as he’s staring at the afraid Saxon warrior, he tells him “don’t be afraid”, signaling to the Saxon to give it his best shot with the knife in hand. It is my personal opinion that Ivar allows this to see if he truly is a God. He desperately wants to know. Quickly after the shanking he realizes he is in fact a mortal, and all of what he believed in was a lie, his power, prowess, and his faith in the Norse Gods. An illusion, all of it. It is in this moment that reality sunk in. He’s a cripple, his reputations destroyed, his men fighting a pointless war, and his brother left alone and unbeknownst of what will become of him (Hvitserk). Hence the crying from Ivar. In conclusion, Ivar may not have been perfect, this is clear, but was a powerful force to be reckoned with despite his physical disability. I once heard a quote that goes, boiling hot water can turn a potato mashed and a fragile egg hard. Don’t let your environment determine who you are. And that I’ll argue is the moral of Ivar the boneless’ story. To be unafraid in shaping your destiny. Like him or not.
Damn. That's nicely put, always seems there is something we are all afraid of at some point in time, be it death, the afterlife, which ever it may be and seems the only way we all will truly know is when our time comes.
This movie has a lot of twists, Ivar wanted everything Bjorn has and the two represents fate and desire. Like ragnar, Bjorn is fated to be the greatest but Ragnar also believes that we can shape our fate through our desire, he gave Ivar the best piece he was missing and made him shape his life himself but Bjorn was the chosen, I believe Ragnar douted the Gods judgement and learnt that there is room for desire.
I think it shows that someone as ruthless and terrible as Ivar. In the end, we are all human. At the end he realized he wasn't this great warrior's death, but hed rather live. I don't know. Everyone sees it differently.
Imagine being a guy that got like brutally injured at the beginning and passed out to wake up and see everyone stopped fighting cause Ivar died 😂 Like "what I wasn't important enough?!"
Ivar wasn't afraid to die until he realized just like his father Ragnar, that Odin wasn't coming to carry him through the gates of Valhalla because Odin wasn't a God it was at that moment Ivar felt truly alone. That's why Ivar started crying and saying he was afraid and his big brother told him he wouldn't tell anyone he was dying afraid. Ivar was very knowledgeable about the Christian God but refused to accept the Christ God it wasn't till Ivars death that he realized he was wrong. That's why Hvitserk ultimately became a Christian.
Yeah no, that's just not true. Hvitserk would have no way of knowing Ivar all of a sudden converted before his death and realised the Christ God to be the true one. He might have stopped believing in his own faith, sure. But converting? Absolutely not.
You’re just extremely biased. Ivar was afraid of being forgotten. Nothing implied that he choose the wrong god. That’s just something you completely made up. Besides a big point of this show is that god’s are men’s creations to give answers to themselves
The real Ivar? Certainly not. Remember though, this is a series, mostly fictional, and this version of Ivar the Boneless is only loosely inspired by the real Ivar. For instance, the real Ivar was over 8 feet tall, and he didn't die on some battlefield, he died from a disease.
Nah... as you get older, more you realise that Ivar was the one who was the most honorable person in The Vikings. He was the one who stood behind his father, he was the one who was proud to be a son of ragnar. think about this.
Actually I'm 67, Ivar was the most troubled and evil person in the cast. Ivar threw a hatchet into his brother's chest. Fought against Bjorn and caused his death. No love loss here seeing him cry like a baby dieing. My only wish is that Bjorn didn't kill him.

He knew he could never be a prime warrior because from birth he was cursed, disabled.
