For IbisPaint users a good sketching brush is “Dip pen (bleed)” it has the same sketchy vibe, for the inking brush “Felt tip pen (hard” is also a good one

Shading is so hard because it always looks like a hot mess until all the blending is done - very much a 'trust the process' practice

I would love a full tutorial - I am still having a hard time with shadings. And recently worked on a pumpkin and nothing was feeling right. The shading you have there is similar to what I was trying to accomplish

I decided that I need to draw a forest, so your video comes at a perfect time! I've had it on while I worked today. I appreciate the introduction to Procreate's texture brushes. I'd been staying away from them, but they aren't actually terrifying! I will endeavor to paint some trees later.
