Ardbeg - The South Trail
Episode 7: The South trail at Ardbeg.
In this episode, I try to run one of the most popular and beloved trails in Ontario. Known to be a challenging trail; full of water crossing, rock climbs, sand, gravel, beaches, and bogs. It is a lot of fun, but it will test your nerves and patience. It is a long journey, swerving back and forth along a hydro line, littered with great campsites and look outs a long the way.

Need some more of these adventures!
@@kevinpike3517 me too man. Soon!
You think I can take on this trail in a stock 4Runner SR5 with All terrain tires?
@@jilwankavian8733 i think it would be tough in some areas. But you probably make it to the first camp site no problem.
Nice, thank you
Your content is fantastic!Do you accept sponsor products?
Of course. Im open to it.
@@pro_rnr Great! How can we send you more details about this issue?
I didn't know you could take a full size vehicle on a ATV trail
@@Darkhorse393 its all crown land. Shared trails. Etc. all good. Just give the ATVs right of way. Not a problem
Were in Ontario was this??
Can a stock tacoma do this trail?
@@alejandrovelasco2239 I mean…that one swampy water crossing was pretty deep. I have 33” and a lift and its was close. Just saying…
Is it possible with stock tires ?
If theyre all seasons maybe. But would risk it.
@@pro_rnr ok thanks ☺️
Great video
Because of this video I finally went to Ardbeg. It was a rainy day but super fun. Next time take an ATV with me and explore the south trail first.
For sure. Lots of fun. Glad you enjoyed the video
Hi. I m totally new to overlanding. I got a subaru Outback. no lifting. do you think it is going to be ok to be on this trail?
Im not too sure. I do remember there being some challenging portions but nothing too crazy. Im also not sure of the clearance on a Subaru.
I love Ardbeg. You should get a winch. :)
Lol. Yes. Definitely. Im getting one put in this season.
Awesome
Amazing video! do you think a regular car would have enough ground clearance to get to the first camp spot?
I do not unfortunately. There are spots that were edited out, so Id have to say its much better to use an suv or truck.
@@pro_rnr thanks for your help! I’ll try with my 4x4 van that I imported from Siberia, it is called UAZ Bukhanka.
@@firstandlastname2390 I think you will be fine with the Bread Loaf.
How long did it take you from Silva runway to your campsite? I’m looking to scout this and trying to figure out if I can do it as a day trip or if I should plan on camping overnight.
I cant remember exactly. Probably 2-3 hrs going fairly slow. I went with the intention of staying over as I leave from Toronto which means its at least 7-8 hrs of driving.
Nice video, we may try the south trail this weekend, done the north one twice to the train tracks
Oh nice. How is the north trail?
Hoping to do this exact trip later this year 🤙
It was pretty damn fun man. Hope you do.
Bring a battery operated chainsaw, a must for trail riding. Dewalt make a 12 inch blade battery one.
I know. I have to get one. Especially for the early season.
Looking to try this out with my 4runner ‘99
is their a portion of this trail thats "casual" per say that a truck wouldn't get stuck on? i live an hour from here.
I think its mostly casual. But it depends on what time of season it is. Early spring - more mud and bigger puddles
Can you share the coordinates of that place? It looks amazing!
I don’t have the coordinates but if you pay close attention to the video Im sure you can determine where it is. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@PRO_RNR LOL My friend and I left the frying pan and hatchet there. We hoped someone might find it useful in case they got stuck overnight. Nice video! What day was it shot?
Thats hilarious! I believe early September.
@@pro_rnr We just went yesterday and started from the bottom up. Between Wolf and Dogfish lakes was challenging. It was extremely muddy in a couple of sections.
What month did you go. Beautiful
Thanks. This was labour day weekend. So beginning of September. Perfect time to go
Subscribed This year with my Tacoma.
I have a 2inch lifted FJ with a winch I installed this winter, if you want to try this trail out, let me know. The only trail I've done was last year on Pencil lake.. with the stock FJ.
@@kennegun Sounds good. We can do it together. My Taco have a winch too with a 2 inch lift. We can make contact and try it.
Did these trails with my brand new 2021 Tacoma TRD offroad. Done the black trail.....super fun. Nice hotel in Mattawa, no need to sleep in the bush.
True. But sleeping in the bush is half the fun.
Beautiful. Where is this in Ontario?
My new favorite channel
Thank you. Appreciate you watching!
Love the Ontario and Canadian content on this!!
Wow. Pretty intense. I wanna go in my 4R but I’ve got no winch. I should really think about getting one… that or a buddy. Lol

@@kennegunis it a public trail?
@0091dude Pencil lake? I'm not sure.. I went with a OF4WD, newbie run
@@kennegun oh awesome! Just out of curiosity, how does OF4WD works? Newbie here
@0091dude check out their website
Is this the trail to Gull Lake?
Not sure about Gull Lake. But its Ardbeg south trail which starts at Black Lake and heads South.
@@pro_rnr sounds good thanks!

One of the best Ardbeg videos Nice job Keep the videos coming!!!
Thanks! 🙏🙏 Appreciate you watching.
❤
Hey, may I know location please?
This is Beaver Trail near Cardiff
Looks awesome
Love all your videos, hope to hit some of these trails next year. How long did the south trail take to run??
Thanks. I always appreciate you watching. It took a long time and I was pushing it at a good pace. I believe I arrived at around 11:30-12pm and I was exiting the trail-end by 6:30-7pmish. So a solid 6 hrs for sure. Mind you, I am filming, etc. Great trail though. Highly recommend. I'd just break it up with camping next time.
Great shots on this trip! Love it 😍 looks like a fun filled adventure for sure 💯💯💯💯💯💯
Happy to see some local Ontario content😊. Liked and subscribed. I was hoping to try in my stock F150, but already read ur reply to another comment. Will probably try some easy trail first.
I cant believe this.... trail after trail!!!! thank you!
hi, where can I find these trails?
Easiest way is to join the OF4WD.
amazing! Thanks for the videos. We are building up the courage to do this with the family and I hope we do it soon!
Appreciate you watching. Stay safe out there :)
As a forester, my favorite ride was a 4 runner for back bush, it went places other rides could not- doesn't mean they won't get trashed though.
oh the pinstriping is real. 100%
Can this trail be done in a stock half ton pickup truck?
My buddy did whitefish (same trail different ending) in a ram 1500. He had 33” tires and a lift. He lost a running board though. So it really depends on clearance. Especially front end.
Awesome thank you for your reply!
Will definitely do these
You must. Its a good time.
Great vid, love how quick you bounced out of that mine when you started hearing things! Keep up the great work and I'll keep watching.
I definitely had to bail out of there. Lol! Appreciate you watching as always 🤟
Such a fun adventure! Keep ‘Em coming 👏👏👏👏😃😃😃😃
Thank you! Will do!
