6:35…… I’m telling you, a wondrous moment in American music history. Good night friends..
When Janna met Stevie, she acknowledged she saw the cocaine and whiskey backstage, but he continued to use substances for another 7 months until he collapsed and made the decision to stop. She enjoyed their excursions together and the lifestyle he provided, but as time passed she shifted her focus off of him and onto her career. She had been modeling in Dallas, but left to share an apartment in NY with other models, until Stevie leased one for her. “Home base” was still Dallas for Stevie, where he got his main sobriety support from daily meetings at the Aquarius Chapter of AA. Dallas Sound Lab recording studio which he frequently used, was located nearby. It’s been well-documented he was uncomfortable being alone, and in a 1990 interview in the Dallas Morning News, he stated “I’m not well”. He admitted it was a daily struggle to stay clean and an author noted he carried a high risk for relapse. More than ever he needed a companion who would be available when he needed one, but Janna made herself less available and was content leaving him to his own devices. She stated he had to learn to not use substances to numb any pain he was feeling, and that it was “Ok to sit in a funk”. However, “sitting in a funk” made him vulnerable to relapse. She acknowledged they had fights and their relationship had its’ “ups and downs”. His prior marriage legally ended in June 1988 and by her own admission, Stevie asked her “many times” to marry him. She relied heavily on his financial assistance and knew it could be terminated, if she continued to delay his proposals. After finally agreeing, she then blamed her refusal to set a wedding date on their busy schedules. But by all accounts, Stevie would have eagerly accommodated. As a courtesy, Stevie asked her father for her hand in marriage, but the real issue had been persuading Janna. He had the apartment lease prepaid through the end of 1990. Pursuant to Texas law, Martha and Jimmie inherited Stevie’s estate in equal parts. Although his family extended the lease for another year after he passed, Janna filed unsuccessful lawsuits to collect more assets from his estate. Since Stevie’s death, she has tried to take credit for his sobriety and seek acclaim for her association with him. Without a doubt, Stevie was clearly committed to her. Problem is, she was more devoted to her career than she was to him.
Janna wasn’t even old enough to drink alcohol when they met. She does seem to try and take credit for his sobriety. That was Stevie’s doing. Nobody else’s. She didn’t come in and *save* him from himself. JC she was only 20 when he died at 35. I think he was at one of the most vulnerable times. She wanted to advance her career off of his. I’m sorry but she doesn’t get any props from me. If Stevie met her when he was still a dishwasher, she wouldn’t have given him the time of day. She wanted the fame of it all. Wth did she think she was by suing his brother and mother, whom he adored, trying to get something that didn’t belong to her. I don’t believe for a minute that he asked her *several* times to marry. but she’s still trying to make herself relevant through his death. Making it appear she was more significant than what she ever was. Janna was very clever at such a young age. Janna was out for Janna. She would have been gone the minute she met another who could offer her even more.
Pasan los años y sigo sin poder creerlo. Nunca voy a entender esta muerte. Te amo por siempre, Stevie!!!!
it looks like it was filmed on a toaster but i'm so thankful this performance has been archieve and shared 💜he did amazing things to this howling wolf song
Looks like everyone involved had a blast! Where would something like this have aired? Do you customarily have 3-minute commercials in NZ?
11:45,SRV schoolin' the front row,as usual.
SRV gave them tuxedos a Texas flood!
Jimmy really smokes on this! He's got great tone and phrasing. The Iceman is brilliant of course, and Stevie is polished and restrained.
HIs Riviera paradise was so intense! Played like he know he was waited over there ❤
So many Texas guitarists who could've participated in this tribute: Eric Johnson. Ian Moore. Hadden Sayers. Chris Duarte. Jake Andrews...
11:00 into the video. If you recall anything Stevie said or played, recall these words first. Stevie died a warrior- salute, bro
I like how he sounds with a flying V
I’ve loved Stevie, I still love Stevie , I will always love Stevie. 💯 .......
Master craftsman
Greg Rollie, Santana's best keyboardist and vocalist back with the band I know many will disagree I my opinion Journey was a better band when he was with them. When Greg left they became a top 40 band.

My first Concert ... was there for Clapton, only to discover SRV.
You know many blues players claimed to have sold their soul to the devil but I think SRV had and angel helping him play
One Of The Greatest What Else Can You Say ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This is one of the better outdoor venues, if you get the chance see a show there. Obviously SRV is one of the G.O.A.Ts
Awesome
Anybody know why this was excluded from the original release?
He was just to great for this world.

Since Stevie’s passing, she has tried to take credit for his sobriety and ride his legacy as his devoted partner. Without a doubt, Stevie was clearly committed to her. Problem is, she was more devoted to her career than she was to him, and knew she would lose his funding if she continued to stall marriage. For these reasons, I cannot support her.
Thank you so much for all the love and care you share on your channel for SRV! I need your help, I have been searching for over a year for the unreleased video of SRV and Albert King Warm Up Jam 12/06/1983. I understand it's almost two and a half hours. Is there any way to get that? Thank you very much!

What a performer & decent human being he was...
Stevie Ray tells the truth nothing but the truth on this short video clip
WTF were they performing for Bush for??? Poor political taste, Jesus. I guess because Bush was a fellow Texan.
Absolutely love this !!! Can’t believe i’ve never seen it before !!! God bless you Stevie Ray 😻🎸👌🔥🔥🔥
Awesome footage thanks!
Does anyone know what part of Dallas this stage took place in? The clerk at the hotel across the street recommended we go check out the "festival" across the street while we wait for our rooms to be readied. My friends and I walked up to the event while the Fab Tbirds were still playing and they announced that SRV would be following their set. During Stevie's set there we found out that both of those bands would be opening for the Who later that night. That was a long day of live music!
I was there in Downtown! It was a free show! I was in front of the stage, center. It was so hot, paramedics were handing out ice! It was an amazing show!
@@MemawLeeLee Friends and I were staying at a Days Inn (well it was 30 years ago) and there's one currently across from Trammell Crow Park near Downtown. Maybe this will trigger a memory for someone.
I was there also. The stage was right by Dallas city hall downtown
**That's dried blood**. He played with a high E string that was anywhere from a 13-15 so he'd rip his fingers apart, crazy glue that callus back on, and continue to play. If the callus' were too damaged, he'd glue his fingers to the back of his thigh and pull off. That's how tough SRV was.
For me listening to this brings me back to the day I heard over the radio that he died. It was as if something had ripped my heart right out of me. I was in tears and couldn't believe it. I'm 58 and this man was the GREATEST EVER!!!!! There is no debating it!!! Stevie was the guitar!! His soul spoke to us with every note that came from it!!! The silver lining was he was clean and sober!!!!
So goooood!
I was at that show! One of the best concerts of my life.
Beautiful but heartbreaking
I was at the Tonight Show to see this. When I picked up the (free) tickets that morning, it was supposed to be Johnny Carson hosting and Gary Shandling as the lead guest. Johnny apparently called out during the day, which he was famous for doing by that point. Usually NBC would just air a "Best of Carson" when Johnny would call out, but that day they called Jay Leno to see if he could host on short notice (he was the primary fill-in host by that time anyway, during Johnny's vacations). And thankfully Leno said yes, otherwise my wife and I would've shown up in Burbank to find out the show had been canceled that night! Anyway, when Johnny bailed on doing the show that night, so did Ed McMahon, and so did Gary Shandling. I've always wondered if Shandling had a bit worked out that specifically needed Johnny, or if he had some sort of unknown rivalry with Leno. Anyway, Stevie Ray was bumped up to lead guest, and I have to tell you that the majority of folks in the audience were older, and didn't necessarily appreciate him like they should've. One of the other guests was Edie McClurg, and the third guest was a standup comedian Jack Mayberry. It was a great show, and as disappointed as I was to not see Johnny Carson, I always appreciated how Jay Leno filled in at the last second to allow the show to happen. And as some others have mentioned, it was just a couple months later that we lost Stevie Ray.
It seems as if God told Steve Ray, "Go for it Stevie. "Give it all your heart and soul- it's you're last performance and it's got to be the VERY best!" Stevie went not only pedal through the metal, he pushed it beyond the limit. Just imagine what a prestine audio.video of his last performance would be worth if only it existed! I've been listening to SRV since about 1985. I went to his funeral with a host of others on a very hot Thursday, August 30, 1990. They played a little know song by Stevie, "Tick Tock." Here's a live of that. ruclips.net/video/N8uUTW9zPbM/видео.html
Thank you Stevie!
I was there !
Ive skiied alpine valley and been in the exact spot he crashed. It wasnt a busy nite at all that nite. Really eerie feeling standing by myself in the spot he crashed. Found the placard someone put up for him
The angry 13 year old girl hitch hiking and kicking the trucks is stupid. Stevie brought the Blues/Rock and they stuck him in the back too much. Weird commercial.
The BEST EVER !!! RIP Stevie ❤❤❤❤❤
Prob sound better with more country feel, be big in USA (Rip) great guitarist is inspiring to this day…
