REVIEW: Savage Universal Background Travel Kit for Photographers
When traveling on-location, especially for headshots, it’s common to use a 53” seamless background paper roll along with a backdrop stand. However, there is an alternate option, the Backdrop Travel Kit made by @Savageuniversal This video will review the Backdrop Travel Kit which consists of a lightweight background stand, a fabric backdrop (available in four different colors), and a carrying case. You don't need to buy an entire new kit if you already own the stand. You can buy separate fabric backdrops separately in white, black, gray, or green.
This video may hopefully provide photographers with some information and a shot-by-shot comparison over a standard seamless paper headshot to see...

    I was upgrading from D300. Decided to get D750 and some lens because my photography is pure hobby, I make no money on it, and z6ii and Z lenses are soooo much more expensive. So I got D750 because it fulfils all me photo needs. Z6ii was tempting only because it's smaller and more comfortable for travelling

    I hate the way every year new bodies come out and muddy the water. I’m still undecided about splashing out on a Mirrorless camera. I was about ready to jump to the Z6 II, then out comes the Z6 III, which by all accounts is amazing. The only good part is that now everyone is ditching their Z6 II’s I should be able to pick up a used body fairly cheaply ( Compared to the Z6 III that is).

      If you largely shoot portraits and headshots like me, the the Z6ii will be a much better value over the Z6iii. If you shoot weddings, anything that moves like sports, wildlife, action, etc., (especially if it moves quickly), then the Z6iii is likely a better option as the new feature upgrades really are geared toward carpeting movement. But in my case, most of my subjects are standing still so the z6ii is likely going to be my go-to camera body for a while. That's just my overly simplistic take. :)

    Hi Mike, We are in school photography, and I have now purchased a system camera for the 2nd time. The first, a Sony A7, I returned after a week of use. Now I have bought another system camera, this time the Nikon z6-2. The reason why I returned the Sony had 2 causes. He could not focus in a normal gaming room at a school or living room during a family shoot. The viewfinder also remained very dark, which I am not used to, as I have always worked with an SLR. I have completely read through the instructions for use and also the menu in the camera. But can't find anything to clear the monitor or viewfinder. Because during studio work at schools, the viewfinder is simply too dark, and that does not really work well. As a result, I keep reaching for my old trusty D850 so that I can continue. Where should I do this setting to get my viewfinder cum monitor clear for normal photography? Please provide your solution Gr. Herman H. Heutink Plan B photography

    • @MikeMcGeePhotography
      @MikeMcGeePhotography Месяц назад

      besides adjusting the viewfinder's display brightness (Setup Menu: Viewfinder Brightness), the other setting you will review/toggle is to change is "D9: Apply settings to live view" and then turn this OFF, if you're setting will be using an exterior strobe, etc.

    Projectors have three numbers that determines their price. Resolution, amount of light and contrast. Hight price projectors have more of all three. The contrast ratio is a number often forgotten. The model he is using only has a contrast ratio of 3000 to one which is very low. This means you have to work to make the image not look washed out. With modern cameras you can sometime work with less light if you have a high contrast ratio. You can get a new cheap project now days in 2024 with about a 15,000 to one contrast ratio and good laser projectors have over a million to one with top end machines having ten million to one. I recommend eBay also and getting a use projector. You should be able to get something close to 4,000 Luminas and 15,000 to one contrast ratio for about $300 dollars and sometimes less. The reason his projector was so cheap was the low contrast ratio. When I started this, I made the mistake of buying a projector with a contrast of only 3,000 to one and ended up giving it away. When I tried to project an image of something it was usually too washed out. Currently looking for new projector now I understand the problem. I am not sure how much contrast ratio that I really need. I have not tried a 15,000 to one to see if it is really enough. I just know I was unhappy with 3000 to one.

    Hey Mike, nice review. Did PocketWizard update something : is it now compatible with HSS with the PowerMC2 and Raven?

    • @MikeMcGeePhotography
      @MikeMcGeePhotography 2 месяца назад

      SHey there. Since you mentioned the PowerMC2, are you talking about the Einstein strobe? I'm not aware of any Einstein being able to do true High Speed Sync like the LINK strobe. There are Einstein workarounds to simulate HSS< but I've never gotten them to work in the past. With the LINK, High Speed Sync capability is build-in and easy with the Raven.

    • @YogueDaddy
      @YogueDaddy 2 месяца назад

      @@MikeMcGeePhotography Hi Mike, I'm talking about the Link with the PowerMC2 installed on it. I'm evaluating switching to Buff strobes because of that compatibility with PocketWizard tech that is way more reliable than any integrated 2.4Ghz system. I like the fact that PowerMC2 is almost like an integrated PocketWizard receiver that doesn't need batteries. However, the info about what it can and cannot do is pretty hard to find. I've seen that's there's been multiple firmware updates for the Raven and I was wondering if these made HSS possible with Link and Celestial.

    • @MikeMcGeePhotography
      @MikeMcGeePhotography 2 месяца назад

      @@YogueDaddy Hi there, unfortunately, I've never used the PowerMC2 with a LINK, since the LINK has a built-in CyberSync receiver. I just use CyberSyncs and The Raven. I know with the PowerMC2 you need to update the e-firmware to make them compatible with The Raven, but after that, I don't see why HSS wouldn't work. It should, because the LINK is HSS capable.

    • @MikeMcGeePhotography
      @MikeMcGeePhotography 5 месяцев назад

      Hey there, this is using AF-C and the AF-ON button on the back, as it's the same button used in back-button focusing. It's just switching from AF-S to AF-C, but with AF-C, it's constantly locking focus while doing back-button focusing. It's still back button focusing and a game changer for getting so many more photos with locked focus, even when you subject may move a bit. Hope this helps.

    Great trick with AF-C with AF-ON activated in menu. I will have to try that. Just sold my Z5 and the prices of Z6ii are really low lately in my area so buying one soon (they are throwing in a free FTZii with the camera at some stores locally). Although the next camera Z6iii will have more features it will also cost a lot more, so a Z6ii is in my budget range, and you make it sound like a great camera! My Z5 was okay, images were sharp, but the Z6ii has the speed in AF, and is less likely to have flickering on the back screen like what the Z5 sometimes has when recording video with less processing power, due to the dual processors of Z6ii vs. single processor of Z5. (while Z5 did flicker sometimes, not always, on the back screen, the recording itself was still clean in Full HD with Z5). An upgrade would be better. Thanks for your review!

      Hey Adrian, glad to hear you liked my review. I absolutely LOVE my z6ii. It's been about 2 years since I migrated from the D750 and I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. I still use the FTZ adapter as well with my 85mm f/1.4 F-mount lens, why? Because it's awesome, and to me there's no need to upgrade to the new (and expensive) Z-Mount 85mm f/1.2 prime, largely due to the cost/weight. The z6ii just works, and works so well. Can't say enough positive things about it. Thanks again for your comment!

    This is technically not PVC but ABS. ABS is way more durable and resistant to impacts and it's not likely to crack longitudinally like a regular pipe. Withstands 220F and doesn't melt like candle wax, unlike other more common plastics. Car bumpers and plastic pieces under the hood, bike fairings and machine enclosures are made with this material, so it withstands high temps and harsh conditions. It's a really good idea, and the rubber caps are genius for impacts and in eliminating having to use PVC glue or making threads. I would maybe include a piece of foam with the caps to dampen even more and potentially avoid ripped edges.
