FL5 Type R at homestead. New PB 1:47

2nd time going to Homestead-Miami with the Type R. This time with the SuperSpeed 18" wheels, Kumho Ecsta V730 tires, Hawk DTC-60 pads (front only), Titanium shims (front only), front Cusco strut bar. Tried out some OMP gloves and had a great time. Got a new PB at 1:47 and I know there so much more in her, just need more seat time. Ran 30psi cold front, 31psi rear for this time.

FL5 Type R 1st track day at Homestead-Miami

Decided to take the Type R on our 1st track day, never did this track before. To get the car ready all I did was Hawk DTC-30 front pads & StopTech 600 Fluid. Was feeling vibration in the front after about 10-12 min sessions during each session although the brakes felt great at start before real heat got into them. Any rubbing at the track with the new wheel and tire setup? Did you adjust the rear camber like you did in the front?
@@prieto4912 if there was any rubbing at all, it’s not even worth mentioning and only happened on a hard dip. Could barely hear it and when I would check tires and fenders, couldn’t really notice where. Rear were set at about -2° camber.

@@filipeferreira885 thank you. 🙏🏽 wheels are SuperSpeed RF03RR 18x9.5 +38 running Kumho Ecsta V730 275/35/18.
you can definitely go less pressure to start so you can aim for 35 hot. That said if you don't have camber (I don't ) then I think keeping it a bit more psi hot will save the tire which is what I do. How were the tires? I am going to switch to those after I kill my hankook RS4s
@@oficina_moomoo currently running about -2° all around. Next time I’ll be starting at about 28 psi cold and see what that does. As for the tires, I liked them. They felt grippy and talked back nicely. I had RT660 on my EK hatch and loved those. These I would say was a good buy at this price point. 👌🏽
Yeah man, they are so cheap. I take you pulled the pins to get to 2.0? I haven’t done it yet but might just go and get some ball joints to get 3.0. Next season though, just going to run stock camber for rest of track days which probably 1 or 2 this year, car is surprisingly good on stock camber and tires have actually not been getting beat up as much as I thought they would
@@oficina_moomoo I agree. Yes, pulled the pins to get a little more out of it. Not planning on running anymore than what I have now so will hopefully get faster playing with the tire psi and seat time.
Sick ! Looks fun I can’t wait to do a track day in my fl5 just waiting for temps to go down here in Texas 👍
@@j_mm1084 thanks. You’ll love it, even straight from factory. Would just recommended at least swapping out to a high temp brake fluid.
Did you change racing brake fluid?
@@wmoID yes I did. Running stoptech 600. I’ll be switching to Motul after this batch. Are you running front n rear pads? I’m only running DTC-60 front with oem rear.
I was out there in the white FL5 but driving in group 100. I was pulling dual duty instructing in both the 200 and 300 group. Hopefully next time we can link up. These cars can get into the low 1:40's. Lol I posted the 1:42 all stock just 255 35 19 A052's, Project MU Club Racer pads, and no lowering springs. I recently switched to the Paragon R5 pads all around. My tire pressures when hot are 32 front and 35 rear, with those tire pressures the car will oversteer ALOT so just be mindful about that.
@@Club-Version oh man, I would have loved to link up with you. You were the person I was referencing in this video! 👌🏽👏🏽 I was watching what gear you were taking turns at and it helped improve my day, that’s how I was able to get a 1:47. @@agcrxturbo9577love your setup. Do you find any negatives for Dalit driving the car with the swift springs? I’m debating whether to lower the car or not.
@@douglaskrueger357 thank you. I don’t have any regrets for lowering the car with the swift springs. I feel like the car feels great with them in these Florida streets. I don’t have many rough roads out here so can’t really chime in on that but when I do drive in rough areas, it’s still not bad to me. I added 18’s with a 275/35 tire which makes them even more comfy now.
You said financial but you driving a type r just get a touring and drop those rays on

@@agcrxturbo9577 you welcome my brother
I also had a number of issues with LogR but I finally got it working. After failing over and over again on my first track day, I came home and created a custom lap around my neighborhood so I could test it out in my free time. There are a few gotchas to watch out for. First of all, the engine has to be warmed up enough to register an oil temp before it will let you push the button to start data logging. But even once you start it, it won't work if you have the track direction backwards. The track I went to wasn't in the pre-populated list so I had to create a custom location and I didn't realize that there is an arrow showing the direction when you set the start point. My arrow was backwards by default so I had to rotate it to point the correct direction that we were going. Hopefully this helps ya. If you are still having trouble, hit me up and I can probably help.
@@DennisJalbert that’s awesome that u created that in your neighborhood to test out, very clever. 👌🏽👌🏽 I was able to use the loaded track and I also created my own with the arrows in the correct direction. I think what I failed to do was end the log when I would pit in. I would just shut the car off because I forgot I had it on and also because I didn’t know I needed to end it. So my next track event is August 31st and looking forward to seeing if that was it and plan on documenting it too with the upgrades I’ve made. Do you remember ending the session on your log?
@@agcrxturbo9577 I can't remember if I turned it off or not. I remember considering that and I know I did stop it some of the times, but I'm not sure if I did it every time. When you hit the "Start Data Log" button, did you get the red bar at the top of the screen with the timer that starts counting how long it has been data logging? And then when you passed the start line for the first time on track, did the lap timer start counting?
@@DennisJalbert I do remember the red bar on the top when I hit the start. I don’t remember seeing it count but then again, I was focused on just driving so idk. I might just do what u did, create a lap around the neighborhood just to see if it logs.

@@hatorihanzo242 thanks, how so?
@@agcrxturbo9577 Honda already optimized the wheel size for this car with the correct programming. Changing it will only improve the looks but will ruin the original driving that was intended
@@hatorihanzo242 understood, and not disagreeing. I feel Honda did a great job overall and during my 1st track day I ran the OEM wheels and felt it did well. I wanted to see if it’ll make a big enough difference compared to the 18’s, 200tw tires with stiff sidewall, more front negative camber( I ran factory spec before) and a front strut bar. Next track day will be end of August so I’ll make a video on that. Plus, Spoon runs 18’s also to get a little more sidewalk. I think in R mode, depending on the track or street, it’s a bit over dampened and the 18’s help with that. 👌🏽👌🏽
