This video is a little different than normal with some no-talking slow TV/ASMR vibes. I'll show you how I create the suspension mounts seen in the thumbnail from a sheet of metal. And in the end some mods for the XC70. Bigger tires, painted parts and some extra LED lights. 00:00 Intro 00:56 Building the mounts 24:53 The Result 25:28 XC70 mods 31:58 Testdrive at night
Start of a new car build! - Project Mailtruck
In this video I show you the first steps into a new car build. Followers know that i've purchased the mailtruck body already more than a year ago, but finally it's time to start the build and dedicate all my time to this. Sadly this means I have to postpone the T6 swap that I actually planned for this winter, but I think this project will be more fun to follow anyway. 00:00 Intro 02:39 Engine 0...

3D Scanning - Project Mailtruck
This two-part video first shows you how I disassemble another Volvo S60 to harvest the subframe and after this I show you one of my first 3D scans in real time, so you get a bit better idea on how 3D scanning actually can be used in a workshop. How long does it take? Do I need a beefy laptop? Does it need to be on outlet power all the time? 00:00 Intro 00:16 Removing S60 engine 02:43 Taking the...

In this video I cut an old Kalmar KVD440 (Kalmar Daf, or Tjorven) into two parts. In this video I cut a perfectly fine Volvo S60 T5 into two pieces. This front cut will be the donor engine and suspension for my Tjorven Mailtruck Project. In case you missed it: the end of the video will have a detailed description of what that project is all about and how the T5 engine will be used in this project. Please leave your suggestions on how to tackle the body-on-frame issue in the ...

Super cool! 😎
This is by far my favourite build in progress ❤
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks 🥰
Recently watched video, one change I did was to drill and tap the end of the rod in the chuck. Ground a MIG tip to a point and threaded it into the end of the rod. I can angle the point out of my road while using and not worry about accidentally welding it to the project. Made a second "finger" with an offset to reach over/into the project when needed also with MIG tip.
Train driver wearing sunglasses at night from now on 😂
Superb 👏
10mm = 1cm = 0.4" 100mm = 10cm =4"
The Mullet calendar totally did it for me. Now you have to do at least one episode a month next year showing each of the different mullets👍👌
Hahahah 😬
Lekker bezig Johan, looks promising!
Looks super sweet 🙂💪 great work great welding 🔥🔥
I promised myself to do TIG on this frame, but MIG is so much faster and easy 😅
Let's go!!
SUPER 🎉
You are thee Absolute Best. Thanks for the vid and time spent mate!
Thanks man, that’s nice to hear 😊
Nice video. :) If you are stuck, you can use the 1/2" universal joint. Wrap it with some electrical tape (2 or 3 times around), and it will not be "floppy".
That’s a very good idea! I’ve never used it like that, but it’s a good one for the archive 😊
You can (kind of) reliably measure belt length by cutting up an old one and attach it in your preferred routing.
Also the keeping it simple attitude to just get it running sounds like a good way to prevent project creep! 🙏
You can use white vinegar, to take the mill scale off (maybe cheaper than belt sander belts). You do need to leave the metal in for a few hours or overnight. The white vinegar can be used over and over. It is a bit smelly, so a lid is a good idea for the container you use. I like the video, always good to see how someone else does fabrication. cheers Maybe some anti seize on the wheel nuts, to help with taking them off next time.
I did not know this! Thanks, now i can use one of the hoops i rolled without taking the scale off. I’m going to town this afternoon, so i can pick up a can of vinegar and a tub with a lid 😊
@@bad_decision_works no worries. Rinse off with water, I sometimes use an old plastic brush, when rinsing.
Still a better U-turn than Austin Powers!
What a Light❤
One of the best investments thats not a tool. Or a car. Or turbos.
Ooooh wait, you’re probably referring to the lights on the car, hahaha 🙈
I wanted to write something witty about how I should’ve taken a hacksaw to my ex-Volvo, but this video mainly made me miss summer! 🙃
Aaaahhhhw man, now i miss summer too 😢
Nice video. Thanks for making the effort to do the video in English. Like your style, very "real". Interested to see how the van progresses. Cheers
Much appreciated! I show things as they are and don’t try to make them look better or easier than it actually is.
Lekker bezig Johan!!
Mooi project Johan.
I can't believe that you don't already have +100k subs. Cool down to earth guy, building some crazy things we all have been dreaming of. And pretty good skills too ✌🏻 Let's all just give the videos some thumps up, if we like what we see. Maybe the mighty RUclips algoritme then makes this channel more visible. Imagine what the RUclips funds in the future can do to this channel and the insane projects 😮 Keep up the good work ✌🏻
I really love comments like this! This is the fuel that keeps me going with projects like this. And yeah.. a little youtube money wouldnt hurt 😅
Super projekt and its progressing well ❤ looking forward to see more on this build 🔥🔥🔥
Hopefully this winter will be calm and i can keep spending so much time on the build 😊
Haha, gvd 9 graden. Hier niet veel warmer. Mooi project!
I laugh some of these window slider kits have the gall to charge $300 for a few pieces of plastic. DIY >>>>>>>>> Greedy Company Kits. 😂
You should definitely go to Lapland to see some heights, and while there go to Norway to see Arctic Ocean, coastal scenery is very beautiful and rough at the same time.
These regions are on my to-visit list for a long time!
The 240 looks and sounds really nice.
Thanks 😊 i’m happy with the change i made to the exhaust. Not too loud, not too quiet.
👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Varför pratar du engelska?
För att du antagligen inte förstår holländska.
I think then most people will understand and be able to follow.
This is nice project and started following because of Peter Björck,s Volvo build, but I came curious, how did you end up at Sweden? Personal question, I know...
No worries, it's not _that_ personal :-) My GF and I have always loved Sweden, ever since we came here for the first time on holiday about 15 years ago. It didn't take long before we said to each other "how nice would it be to never have to go back to holland again" and a few years ago, during covid, we agreed on moving in 2020. We sold our house in holland, rented a house in Sweden in the region we wanted to live in and then started to search for a nice house to buy. We bought that a year ago and now I finally have all the right things to build the stuff i've had in mind for a while now. It's mainly the country, the people and the way of life that made us move, but i would be lying if I said the car culture here has not helped make the choice easier. It's like everybody is born a as petrol head here.
@@bad_decision_works Such a nice story, Sweden really has amazing car scene, no matter if you talk about classic cars or drag racing. I did couple trips there when Tullinge had those drag racing events, very cool trips.
Ik zit aan de buis gekluisterd 👍🏻
👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love this project!
i am from the town that produced tjorven, we have a real nice museum a bit out of town that is cheap to visit.
I know and i really want to go there with my tjorven one day!
Ohh, nice. Do you have any link to those? By the way. I met a guy last week with a raised 245. It was one if your lift kirs on it 😀
The link is already broken, as it always goes with this chinese shit. But just search for “quick latch” on your preferred china-website of choice and you’ll find plenty. Cool that you met somebody with a lifted 240. I think i’ve sold around 300 kits around the world, and most of them went to the US.
thats a lot of work to cut a S60
It’s a little elaborate to do it like this, but it suits the step-by-step, small bites at a time, mentality. If i would have dropped the subframe with the engine and gearbox i would have had to re-assemble everything afterwards and “re-invent the wheel”, whereas now I just strip away everything I don’t need and just connect the dots afterwards.
It’s going to be ace. I don’t know these cars but I can see straight away that if you try to split the body it looks like the runner for the sliding door will go with it. Would there not be enough access just through the back door? Like a Metro 6R4 or there’s a company on RUclips that are putting a Lamborghini engine in the back of a Land Rover. The only access they have is the rear hatch and rear side doors. You could do the same with removable rear side windows. Anyway looking forward to the build 👍🏻
The runners would be 50/50 on the part that stays and the part that you take off. But the mounting points are easily accessible, so it would be four simple bolts to unbolt it from the rear part before removing that. There is probably enough room, but I want to make it easy to work on in the future. Especially when you keep in mind that it will be an itterative process of building this car.
Can't wait for the fabrication for the Tjorven project. It is going to be epic with that engine!
I hope so! And if not I’ll figure out how to put a second engine in the front 🤷♂️
Hello! I was wondering if you could make a video on the rear tire carrier / bracket you made for your lifted 240? If not a full video, i would just love some details on what you did as I am doing a 240 overland build. Thanks! love the channel
Your channel deserves more like and subs. Nice projects 🎉
Haha thanks! Make sure to tell all your friends to sub 😬
I like this Content ;-)
Thanks for the feedback :-)
Really dig the custom clamps. I like to watch how things are made, those clamps made a great addition to the track car.
Thanks for your feedback 😊 much appreciated
What a labor intensive clamps! Love for creating at work there, great to see
I was also happy to have an excuse to do some machining. It had been a while 😊
