Lombardo has the Cliff Burton effect where when he plays he makes it looks effortless and also adds alot of nuance.

Bostaph and Dette are truly amazing, but Dave Lombardo defines the sound of the band and thrash in general. He's a cornerstone, and a pioneer of a style only he can truly own. And he owns it every time. It's like Hendrix or Freddie Mercury. He doesn't look like he's playing the instrument, he looks like he IS the instrument, literal GOAT.

All three drummers are bad ass and fast but Dave is the best

Paul’s just amazing! Seen him MAMY MANY times w SLAYER, lastly w Testament in a 500 max club… dude PAUL I will always have love for! I’ve seen Jon on my SLAYER soundtrack to the apocalypse and lately in his own posted videos doing KILLING FIELDS and BLACKENED by METALLICA… Jon ain’t no one to overlook! First I thought He is closer to Paul I guess, but man idk someone did say in here Jon is a combo of both and I agree!!! But when I watch Dave, and considering his age, everything you guys are saying is spot on! He plays loose and gritty and tight and all at once, he has feel because it’s his fucking music! Dave is the best! The original usually is! But I would watch Paul and Jon any day of the week and twice on Sunday, it’s just there is no way to compare them to Dave and his career! ( I must say watching Jon tho, he is WAY more handsy then Paul was, and watching his KILLING FIELDS BIDEO really fucked w me man, dude is GOOD! time. For me Lombardo blast beat and up beat its just amazing, and the volume of his ride its just amazing. So for slayer songs Lombardo its just number one.

Lombardo's playing is so much more fluid and relaxed , not as stiff as Bostaph and Dette, their all great drummers but Dave is the King here, he elevated Slayers stage show because he was such a showman. No disrespect meant to Dette or Bostaph !
