A very distant clip shot with a Sony DCR-SX40 Handycam.Shot from 3 rd row of Section 305 at ACC, a good 250 feet. Cam was on my knee and I was viewing on the flipscreen, while trying to keep it discrete from the usher 4 seats away Sorry for the quality, but it is what it is.

I met Gerry Gomez while we were both watching the Reading Buccaneers practice enroute to their final DCA championship. Nice man and a great drummer!
Sickest ending to an I&E solo.
I don't know what brought me back to this video today, but I am glad I did.
Still as good as I remember
up u pop upl
What a nice cover.
Thx Michael Batres for tellin me about this guy!
I get to see them coming this October I could only afford tickets in the balcony 309 row 10 I am really hoping that I can see stevie from here!! but just to be in same room as her makes me soooo happy!! so much to anticipate for the next 6 months
3:04-3:07 DEAR SWEET BABY JESUS
it's easy, if you're a god
its been a long time since ive watched this and its still amazing
Fareal brotha I feel that! I haven't seen this since my sophomore year in highschool back in 06, still blows my mind 🤙😎🤙
I can play that one part at 3:53
me too!
I could do that
This was the last snare solo at I&E that was musical and had entertainment value... Usually the theme in these things are pretty weak, while it just becomes musical masturbation, but this solo was genuinely musical.
Hes the tech at The Woodlands Highschool marching band now. my god has he made us better
There's no doubt that this guy is extremely skilled at this, very precise, and fast, but in a lot of parts of this there's no particularly attractive beat/rhythm to the madness. It just seems like a way to show how quickly he can smack something with a stick. I'm sure it's extremely hard and takes a lot of skill but... what's the point? It's not really music.
Hahaha, yes there is. Tenor drumming is an art, and most of it is way over your head. If you can’t feel the pulse in those parts, then you just don’t get it. Yes it absolutely is music, get over yourself
Then you haven't seen Brian Spicer play with wiffleball bats.
Married mother of god.
...lets start at the beginning...child. I am picking on noone. I saw someones very uneducated opinion, and raised them an educated truth. you've completely missed the point of everything I said, and you continue to ignorantly reply to me. I work 40-60 hrs a week, I practice my drums an hour a day, I play live 1-3 times a week, and I'm a single father. I don't need a hobby, I have a life. The only reason I'm aware of your untellect is youtube emails me, stop wasting your breath and my time...
...you cared, and then you got verbally out jousted, and yet you are still here. My reply to you was the first comment I've left in a month anywhere. I'm a drum troll, I don't have time to leave comments that no one will reply to. Thank you for making me feel noticed...hugs and kisses
this is a video to show off drum skills, t-coke claims drums were created for music, I corrected him because his opinion IS contrary to historical fact. If I say something that is untrue I would like to be corrected. If you had actually read my comment you would see that I corrected him and REFRAINED from belittling him, and by replying to my message, you not only lowered yourself to my level, but you solidified the fact that I'm actually getting through to idiots as well as scholars, good day;p
I'm still a stupid little kid
Hahaha holy crap bro. This comment is from two years ago. I was just a stupid little kid then lmao.
nope
and rhythm and chops and ambidexterousity and thousands of hours of practice
drums came WELL before music...they were for dance and war, percussion without music is as old as the earth, at least you used the word impressive in your comment...i will refrain from belittling you before the masses...this time
1:44 you are the awesomest person ever
He my drumlins instructor. Woop woop
this just proves bd and scv dominates at everything...
@owaaaa984 no... 05' was his one and only year... sucks too cuz tim jackson win practically every year he did I&e... casey had that potential
@pidog1 you have got to be the most closed-minded know-it-all in the musical world.
@drummerboi480 there always someone better
hes almost as flashy as ivan pacheco
moooseek please :)
@pidog1 a true drummer is interested in every form of drumming. thats clearly not you.
@pidog1 I would like to know what type of background in percussion do you have. For one this is an snare drum that is tuned for outdoor use and the sound quality in the video is not the same. This is also a performance it would be no different than a rock drummer or jazz drummer doing a solo, they rock out and get into it you would see a drummset soloist play still it would not look good. Do you know what these kids go trough on summer tour it is rough but rewarding. PS he is the world champ OK
@usfguy85 Compared to many other tenor players, even at the IE level of DCI, the clarity and motivic use in this solo are equal to a lot of the literature you hear played on the brass side. Yes, a majority of solos are simply fast notes, but Jackon provides amazing clarity between the drums which is almost unheard of in his predecessors.
Gosh he has very quick hands for this kinda of work. I makes my head spin just watching hIm. Good stuff though.
@pidog1 on what grounds do the drums sound terrible? you must be one of those really old guys that listens to nothing but classical music and thinks everything else is inferior.
@pidog1 seriously? in my opinion, DCI is a professional activity that only the best and most ambitious musicians/athletes compete in on an international scale. these are some of the most talented drummers in the world, and DCI makes them strive for more. so dont say "if they make it in the music world" because i have more respect for this organization than any label or orchestra/band, regardless of how much they get paid (or have to pay in DCI's case). if you dont like it, then dont comment.
@bumba220 Thank bud. I barely have time to play never mind tune. I know there is a great site dedicated to drum tuning.....goes right down to pitch, notes, resonance....pretty much everything but Einsteins theory!..lol I need to get into beats more, rather than military based stuff...can you tell I was in corps for 11 years??? Anyways, thanks for the in.....always appreciate + stuff!
In my opinion you have the heads of the toms tuned too high. And the bottom heads could be too tight. Bottom or "reso" heads should be tuned slighter looser than batter side heads. The first key of tuning a drum properly is to get the head in tune with itself when you first put it on. Google how to properly tune a drum, follow it to the letter, and you will see an immediate improvement. I also suggest new, different heads than those. I like Evans. Stay away from thickies like pinstripes.
@pidog1 That is probably the most ignorant thing I have ever heard
@pidog1............ The one thing positive I can say is that at least it is producing some young players with fairly good technique. Tommy Igoe..fairly good technique Billy Cobham..........fairly good technique Nat Barouch.......fairly good technique Scott Johnson.......fairly good technique
Let me remind all of you that this is a difficult solo. It makes it even more difficult that he had to memorize it and do it perfectly in order to get 1st. If you said he messed up, it would have been very noticeable and he would've gotten 11th place.
god just imagine this guy working at a japanese steakhouse
nice hand movemnts..
of course a blue devil would win.... just saying.
The longer I play drums and the more I learn... This level of drumming just gets more impressive. If you don't think this was amazing drumming you don't have a clue about drums.
My drum teacher knows him
