Welcome to Old Faithful Covers. This channel will feature cover versions of songs from the late 1950's to the 2000's. The focus is on great songs from those years that have interesting vocal harmonies. The goal is to stay as faithful to the original recordings as I can. A new cover song video will be posted every 5 or 6 days. This is a brand new channel, so viewer feedback is essential. Please leave a comment with any suggestions / requests.

The Roches "Angels We Have Heard on High" cover - Old Faithful Covers
098 - Old Faithful Covers version of "Angels We Have Heard on High" by the Roches. The song is a multi-track cover on which I played and sang all of the instrumental and vocal parts. I tried to sound as close to the original recording as possible.
The song was released in 1990 by the Roches; three very talented sisters from New Jersey/NYC who wrote, recorded, and performed for many years without widespread commercial success. Paul Simon was an early fan and had them sing backing vocals on his "There Goes Rhymin' Simon" album. The Roches have always been inventive, funny, and very skilled at non-traditional vocal harmonies and instrumentation. The album that this cover song was borrowed fr...

I apologize for the discordant jazz vocal harmony midway through the song. This co...

Great job!
Thanks. Please consider subscribing to my channel.
@oldfaithfulcovers I did!
@@duanewirdel-xe3hv Thanks! Welcome!
That was so cool how you did it just by yourself with all the different melodies. That is why I love this song so very much is because of the harmonies. I was just a little girl when this song came out and my mother got remarried to our stepfather to Cherish by the Association in 1972. I can still appreciate it years later at 65. It is so sad that Terry Kirkman passed and Larry Amos and Brian Cole. Great job and so much fun to listen to and watch you do this song.
Glad that you enjoyed my cover version of this great song. Please consider subscribing to my RUclips channel.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written! I was 15 when it came out and loved it more than Walk Away Renee. I loved they way they mixed in string with their music, which is why they called it Baroque Rock. Too bad their egos wouldn't keep them making more music!
Lovely! Heard it a lil bit too late , adding this to my christmas playlist
Glad you like it! Maybe we can add you to my list of channel subscribers.....
Nice work!
Glad you liked it. Please consider subscribing to my channel. Lots more Beatles tunes there.
Great work man! I am 63 and admire your skill. *One of the few groups that could actually reproduce these layered harmonies on stage… to give The Beatles a run for their money.
I agree, the Association had incredible harmonies. I have a couple more Association covers on my channel. Please consider becoming a subscriber.
Great job
I just discovered your channel. It’s such a delight. I’m loving it.
Great! Please subscribe to my RUclips channel and by all means, tell some friends!
That’s one of my all time favorites. Great job!
You have great vocal range.
So very well done!
I really appreciate the kind words!
Lovely! Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you too!
Posted on my Facebook page and feed, passing on your gift to my friends .
I am humbled that you would share my work with your friends.
Thank you for an inspiring musical gift. I will post this on Christmas Eve.
Thanks! Please feel free to post it as often and wherever you like!
Ahh so this new gem didn't sit there a few weeks before I found it by accident !! Beautiful. Been a great day for music. The 4th week of Advent and my wife and I were treated tonight at Mass to a magnificent Ave Maria done with Harmonies that gave me goose bumps, then I find this.... You have added very nicely to this Christmas season !! Boun Natale a te e alla tua famiglia, fratello :-)
Wow! Such an inciteful and uplifting comment. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
@@oldfaithfulcovers Just some additional comments. I have dabbled in doing covers of tunes as you do, for years now. While I have posted a few on You Tube I would never have the courage to set up a You Tube channel as you have to showcase them most of them. Given the difference in the quality between your work, and mine perhaps what I lack in courage, I make up for in wisdom!! 🙂 Having said that, I've been recently struggling to come up with a new tune to cover. Your two recent Christmas tune posts and your comment about an "imaginary unreleased Byrds Christmas LP", have given me some new ideas. A bit late for this Christmas but this world can use a lot more Christmas Spirit all year long !! :-)). Thanks OFC!!!
@@Byrdfan I've still got one more Christmas song to post. Hopefully, I'll get the video ready in time. I saved the oddest one for last. I can't wait to hear your new Christmas song. Please let me know where and when you post it. You really can't go wrong with "imaginary and unreleased", can you?
How could I have missed this until today??? Ahh what could be better than putting a Byrds harmony to such a classic tune of the season?? Love it, esp the Bells Of Rhymney ending :-). Great idea Mr 6th Byrdman... What if there suddenly appeared an up to now unknown 1965 Byrds Christmas Album? Taking any requests for it?? :-)). Merry Christmas ......Great Job!!
Thanks for that entertaining comment, Byrdfan. All I can think of at the moment is "Deck the halls with lots of jangle". I would NEVER suggest "Crosby, the snow man", although I think he' would have been fine with it.
Beautiful Muzak!
Very popular with bots in elevators everywhere!
Another great cover, keep it up. How about some Hank Williams Senior, the legend.
Always a pleasure watching and listening to you recreate and interpret classics. *Reminisced of The Ventures 1965 Christmas ‘mashup’ album.
I'll have to check that album out. 'Diamond Head' and 'Lonely Girl' are my 2 favorite Ventures songs. Thanks for posting and have a merry Christmas.
Bravo Sir for this Byrds song that never was, a non record but a pretty one. Faithful actually to Byrds' climate in original line-up. French congratulations. 🎸
Thanks so much for that comment. It implies 'mission accomplished' and I am grateful for that. I would love to live in Paris for a couple of years. It'll never happen, but I can dream.
Yes we did need another Christmas song! Well done!
Glad to have provided yet another one. Have a great Christmas!
Awesome!!
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Nice one!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Another stellar tribute, this has amazing vocals, instrumentation, and arrangement.....Wow!
Thank you for your kind words!
I don't know how I missed this one, anyone who can cover the association this well is a genius. These were given to us a a "challenge" in the choir, and they were very difficult to get the layering correct. Thanks for taking on the tough ones, this was very enjoyable.
C'mon, genius??? I just try to copy what I hear. The true genius is the one that creates these works of art in the first place (for me to try and copy). I gotta say though, that I DO appreciate that generous comment.... Thanks.
@@oldfaithfulcovers Yes I did say genius. A genius can recognize the fine details, and has the wisdom to know how to do justice to a great piece of art. I remember recording back in Motown Studio B just to do minor fill ins. Although this was many years ago, I remember some pearls of wisdom....Great people think that they are Posers, while Posers think that they are great, stay humble kid, it will take you a long way.
@@RSuchy How about if I pose as a genius? Seriously. thanks.......
pretty good job m8 nice balance too and harmonizing style like Tom Scholz when he did the first version of More than a feeling goodonya m8 rock onn.
Glad you approve! Pretty good comment, sir.
@@oldfaithfulcovers thank ya m8
Always a pleasure watching and listening to you reproduce classic oldies groups music.
Thanks for that. Are you talking about the Philippines? I know that the Cascades were very popular there.
Well...I was impressed. Subbed.
Thanks for that. Welcome to the channel.
Well done indeed, from a 75 year old Hollies fan.
Thanks. I've been a fan of the Hollies for nearly as long.
Great choice and you did well
Thank you, Sir.
I have never seen or heard anyone( or group) cover this. * For some reason I never got around to watching ‘’Dracula A.D. 1972’ and I was blown away Sal Valentino’s band ‘Stoneground’ appeared in the Hammer film. The Beau Brummels were a great group.
Always a pleasure. * I love the song ‘ Silence Is Golden’ by The Four Seasons. The Tremoloes version is my favorite cover. Maybe sometime when you are not too busy…?
Are you not playing the lead guitar part? Why did you not show? In any case, your vocals are very good and an amazing important part of what makes this song unique.
My videos are merely a way to present my cover recordings. The music takes me between 30 and 40 hours per song to produce. Since it's a one man operation (mostly), all parts on the videos are mimed. Not all parts are represented. Time spent on videos is time not spent on recording music, which is far more important to me. Glad you're liking the channel..
Always a pleasure watching and listening to your ‘One Man Band’ videos. *Gene Clark was a great songwriter. David Crosby was a great harmonist. Jim(Roger)McGuinn is a great 12 string musician.
Did a great job. For second you did with the 86 Nestle white
Thanks. Glad you liked it. I had to do both the milk chocolate and the white chocolate versions. They belong together.
@oldfaithfulcovers you are welcome. You did the first one good too. I meant especially the second one. It's always been the one that's been my favorite
Congratulations from France, Sir. I am a very long time companion of Byrds' career. 🎸Such an influence. 🎼
Thanks. There are 7 more Byrds songs posted on my channel. I hope that you've found them all.
Absolutely incredible. ...so glad I found your channel! ...VERY entertaining stuff for another old cover musician! 😁👍
Awesome job!
The Byrds and the Association are two of my favorite bands from the 60s, both with lush multi level harmonies. Big Gene Clark fan!! You do both bands proud!!!
Thanks so much for that comment. I am also a big fan of the Byrds, the Association, and Gene.
Outstanding I am sure if Gene had your You Tube site he would not only very much approve of how you honored one of his masterpieces from the MTM LP he would subscribe to Old Faithful Covers as well !! Years ago I dreamed of assembling a Byrds Tribute band. You would have been one of the guys I would have dreamed to have as a member :-)).
OK, I've primed the time machine. What time is practice? Thanks for considering me.
Alway a great production! Many thanks.
Thank you too!
_I really like your version_ All the BEST for you from Germany!
Thank you very much! And my best to you as well!
Well done. Did you transcribe the harmonies yourself, or is the vocal arrangement published?
Figured them out with my own ears. You should also check out my covers of "Windy" and "Everything That Touches You".
Hey Don and Phil, I know I've heard this tune someplace before. :-)). Just amazing. On top of the goosebumps this cover put a smile on my face ear to ear. Always been one of my top ten favorites. Keep them coming sir. Are there any tunes you don't make sound better than the original?
Just what I need..... more pressure. Seriously, thanks for the kind words, but my subscriber and view counts say a lot of things about the quality and appeal of my stuff.
Are you Phil or Don?
Good one... no matter though, this guy is talented.
Both.
Very good cover. Harmonies were excellent. That is what makes the song.
Thanks for your kind words.
Very nice. You sounded quite a bit like Paul. There is a very good instrumental of this in the “Hard Days Night” track.
Very good cover. The organ performing the violin parts was very accurate. You should do “ I’ll Never Walk Alone”
