I'm Estefani and I am Deaf. My husband's name is Oscar, and he is also Deaf and has cochlear implants. We have a Deaf daughter, Everlyn, and Hard of Hearing son, Jabez. I like sharing our life stories as a Deaf family and share contents that focus on parents communicating with their child/ren communicate by American Sign Language.

love these! i was born deaf but my sister is hearing. everyone in the extended family should know asl or learn love that heart on the fridge
not to mention it can ostracize them from the deaf community
It shouldn't that's ridiculous. The deaf community should respect their decision to get the implant same as someone who gets it should respect others decision not to get it
Anyone should mind their business and if they decide they’ll talk about it

I can assure you, I was not insulting that baby by any means. By help if he’s hard of hearing he can get hearing aids.. yes, he is perfect. He is a beautiful baby boy.!!! Don’t be so touchy! I have two signs and four grandchildren!!❤❤❤

I'm having trouble understanding the situation
She’s saying that people think her daughter can’t do normal things like speak or learn because she’s deaf the mom who is also deaf is responding to the comments saying the only thing her daughter can’t do is hear. I hope I helped!

Thank you for sharing the learning process! I had wondered if it was appropriate to guide the child's hand or use the parent's hand on the child's face, so it helps me a lot to see both of these in practice!

I've been learning ASL for a while now and I don't know all the signs but I can at least fingerspell and tell people I'm learning sign. Even though no one in my family is deaf, I still learn sign just in case I need it later in life. I really don't get why hearing parents don't want to learn their deaf kids sign language. It's like teaching a language that they'll never understand. hope you all have a nice day 😊
Some parents listen to audiology more that's why. If you watch a short movie call "The silent child" on RUclips you will understand alot why more parents do that.

Wait they fixed it that fast and he could start drinking milk?!?! My son had a tongue tie and wouldn’t latch either. I had to give up breast feeding him. I was never informed of this! 😔
This is why it’s important to get lactation consultant. I didn’t know at first but had to get as much information as possible first before we had our babies.

That's sad I wonder if its a resource problem I would hate to think that 90% just don't want to put in the time and effort to learn. The ability to communicate and express yourself is so important in life.

I’m deaf too and I wear rondo 2, and I don’t sign exactly English with my grandma cuz she does chile sign and I do English. So we mix it up somehow lol

One day when riding my bike to my ASL class, I was thinking about the ASL story Deaf Tree, whenever I saw a tree I would either sign "chop-chop-chop", or "that tree deaf", my class was 7 miles, by the time I got to class I was in tears from the epiphany. I was choosing my favorite trees to be deaf, my favorite qualities, became connected with deafness, and that moment, I understood, the power of that story~

It’s scary to lose trust in doctors, over things like this. We rely on honesty in medicine; and misinformation and audism ruin that.
I’ve been studying ASL for a year now. I know many signs already and still cannot understand when people sign at deaf speed😢. I need to lower the speed down to be able to understand some. I wish I had someone to practice with!
Yes…..my deaf father had a very full life (he died 25 yrs ago) the only thing he couldn’t do- talk on the phone 😂
