Fix - Alienware Command Center Wont Change Fan Speed
Просмотров 97 тыс.3 года назад
This is just a video demonstrating a misunderstanding I had when trying to adjust the fan speeds on several Alienware pc's I have. The systems would heat up under heavy load, and the fans would not spin up adequately, and the result would be reduced/throttled performance.

Not sure what to make of this. But this has gone from happening once a year, to every time I start the Jeep after its sat motionless for a few hours.
Brilliant, just perfect. Activating the profile on the home screen was what I was missing. Still relevant information!
Solved my problem, thanks!
Note to self: Don't forget to change thermal profile on the AWCC homepage. Thanks!!!
Thanks. You should time-label the video in specific parts to skip it to the important parts. What if someone needs to get this done really quick?
Very Useful
Only thing I found that worked. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. For the last 10-15 years, I've had multiple devices having Blue/Green Screens of Death. Dozens of "solutions" have been suggested, usually centered around Clean Install of Windows and/or modifying the Virtual memory issues. Not a single post ever suggested the fan speed or a potential solution. I always push my devices beyond their limits. I never realized there was a connection between "SOD's" and fan issues. I thought they were two separate issues. Being able to influence fan speeds has been a huge help. The Computer Management app (using Event Viewer) shows the frequency/types of errors. Following this video has greatly reduced/eliminated my "SOD's" for the last few weeks. My husband suggested giving you a like/subscribe/comment to reflect my gratitude. Thank you!
Just tell us what worked, not what didn't.
yes
Go to 07:00 to see the solution! Thank me later.
okay so i was having some other issues, and needed to do a complete reinstallation. Before i uninstalled, I was actually able to adjust the fan speed in the advanced tab and it would actually work. it has done this since i first got my desktop a few years ago, but now that i reinstalled it, it wasnt working. in which case, great video, thank you for the help. but i wonder if it was like a version specific thing or what because now that im looking it up, apparently im the only person i can find that was able to change the fan speed in the advanced tab and that blue line did mean that it was the active profile. im not sure what changed, but im hoping someone can find out what it was so maybe i can get that feature back and so others can actually have it. Edit: okay i figured it out after messing with it for a while. i think its because the blue bar in the thermal profiles is supposed to change what the profile says on the main screen, and for some reason it isnt doing that. if you select your custom profile on the main menu, and then go into that profile>advanced and then change the settings ( i always use smooth line) it changes as you change the line and save it
Still works, thanks!!
ESTOU A MESES TENTANDO FAzER ALGO PRA resolver e seu video simplesmente resolveu
LOVE YOU 1000!!
YOU ARE THE BEST OF THE BESTS!!!! AMAZING PERSON
YOOOOOOOOO thank you so much for this! ive been searching and searching... finally found an answer! youre a god send sir
It took me days to figure this out. I couldn't find this info anywhere. I'm have the same prob with a corsair mouse setup. Very similar situation. Anyway, Thanks for posting this vid...... Also, don't let AW command center install Nvidia software. Download yourself, straight from Nvidia. For some reason, AW overclocked everything, locked the settings and shot my temps up by 40 deg F at idle.
Amazing! that someone has to figure out how this works... I mean I know its Alienware, but this people are a bunch of morons. But you John you are amazing man, you did the job of those idiots in Alienware.
If there is a stupidest software in the world, alienware software should win it
You are great! hope there is more people like you, thanks a lot
Dude thank you!!! I fricken downloaded windows 11 finally it made my computer so hot I reverted back and then my fans wouldn't go full speed , thus finally fixed it thank u brother!!
Yo is it fine if i keep both fans on 60?? Or that will dmage the laptop i have Dell g3 3590
Fianlly someone explained it thank you so much
thx for the help
Awsome , thanks for the basic simple explanation
tl;dr The active thermal profile is selected only in the Home section and the thermal profiles can be created, edited, deleted only in the Fusion section
Hey....that helped. Thanks.
thank you
I agree, It is not (gasp) user friendly. Also my take is as a "Command center" it does not give as much information on all the temps as I might want. Thanks for the video! I used to build my own PC's and the R11 is the first pre-built I have had in 25 years. Overall I like it but the bios seems really wonky. I have seen LOTS of people know know more than me about computers (Especially the Alienware) and I see LOTS of them say if it is working do not update bios because it seems to trigger problems
This is two years old but i want to say that even the updated version in 2023 is crap.
Liked and subscribed because you have style
THANK YOU
Hey how do I keep in touch with you? I've been trying to reconnect with you.
Does it work with MSI laptops?
My understanding is that the Alienware Command Center is specifically intended for use with Alienware hardware. Frankly, I MSI has to have made something better than this app. Afterburner for example.
Thank you so much for taking your time doing this, 2 years after this video and Alienware Command Center still makes this quite difficult to understand.
Every time I see a new comment on this video, I think "damn, Alienware/Dell still haven't addressed this"
Thank you for putting this video, this helped me a lot.👍🏻
Thank you sir!
good job 👌
My Good Man.! you have done me a Solid.. thanks for sorting this out.. I had Dell telling me to wipe the laptop and start all over again.! took me all day today.. then I watch your vid and damn me if I couldnt do it so simple..! Thanks really appreciate it.!
thank you thanl you thank you
Unbelievably intuitive UI. Thanks for solving this.
I'm having a different issue. My fans will never go quiet on my M15 R7. Fans never go under 50%, and if they spin up to 100% while gaming they stay that way even after quitting and nothing is running. I've updated everything and still an issue. This was an open box from BB and I'm outside of my return window. Im thinking it may be a hardware/sensor issue.
Sorry for the delayed response. Did this ever work itself out? Were the fan speeds at least responding to the perceived (presumably incorrect) temps?
Thank you!
Thank you! I agree that this software is not user friendly or intuitive to use.
Legend!!!
Thanks! It really helped me out👏🏻
Your video is a lifesaver, I got tired of my desktop CPU being thermal throttled. I thought something was wrong with my drivers but turns out, I was just dumb
Don't sell yourself short. Many are in the club where this one thing just didn't make sense to us. Some companies seem to go out of their way to make customers feel stupid.
Youre not dumb, you where just throtteling.. :)
Thanks for the help but I'm impressed you managed to make this a 9 minute video
Thank you, sir!
Thank you for posting this video. You are right, the Alienware Control Center is NOT intuitive at all... are you listening developers... probably not. Thanks again, cheers.
