Short filmstory about Norma filmed in 2011 with the intention of doing a longer documentary. Norma passed away before we could pick up the project again, so this is all that we've got. This was edited and uploaded in 2019 to celebrate Norma's Supernova exhibiition in Claremont, CA. For those who have commented about the music in the first couple of minutes, that is Norma's track "Air Hymn" from...

She was still a pistol.
"Shadows" led me to this ray of light that was Norma. I'd say RIP, but I think she's somewhere else now CIB - Creating in Bliss.
There are certain songs from the 60s, like Norma Tanega's 'You're Dead' or Vashti Bunyan's 'Train Song' and 'Winter Is Blue', or maybe 'Society's Child' by Janis Ian and 'Dominique' by Sister Anne that capture the spirit of the 60s like nothing else. I'm so glad that they had their moments in the light. Bless them all...
So sad that I never knew of her music before! Im asddicted now!
❤❤❤❤❤
Love her!
A genuinely overlooked songwriter. I defy anyone not to love "A Street That Rhymes at 6AM."
always upbeat listening to walking my cat named dog...thxs for sharing...
Thank you! Seeing her beautiful face, which is beautiful because of the ease and peace she exudes, and hearing her laugh has me falling even deeper in love with her and her works!
Beautiful.
Thank you,Erica. Lovely tribute to Norma.🔥⭐⭐🔥
Just found out about this beautiful talented fantastic artist woman. Beautiful soul amazing music. May she rest in peace. Glad i came across her. Better now than never. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for putting this up. I really liked Norma, her songs and smile. Rest in peace...
What she does in the Shadows, is enlightening to me🌞🙏🏼
This is fantastic! I’m new to Norma as of today! This needs to be two hours longer!!!
Cannot stop listening to her music. Truly wonderful voice and creativity.
What is the awful noise over the top of the audio?

Жизнерадостная и позитивная Норма...
As many of you, I'm here because "What we do in the shadows". I will be forever thankful for this discover. Go, girl.
She seemed cool, disappointed to just now find out about her. Her songs go hard fr fr. Gonna be blasting a few of these for a good while.
"She's dead, but not out of this world!" Now that her song is being heard as the theme in the hit Vampire series, with help from her surviving friends and relatives, you guys could do a real expanded documentary introducing her history to many more of us. Keep her memory alive!
Tears of joy getting to watch this today! Norma has been my favorite musical “discovery” of this year for me. Wish I had heard her sooner. I feel so inspired by her music and her generous and creative life apart from the industry.
Thank you.
What a groovy lady, indeed love is the vehicle by which we are about to apprehend total acceptance of our current mode of being
she is great. what a trip. she deserves a bio pic.
so inspirational
Thank you for sharing! Norma is amazing 🖤
Love this! She is so talented and seems so joyful in every video she’s in. So glad you made this!
Do you have the whole footage or a recording of her at the end of video performing the alt version of “Walkin’ my Cat name Dog?” ITS REALLY GOOD!
I know. Sorry, but this is the worst "documentary" imaginable. At best a trailer for the real thing. I want to see her, not have snippets flashed before our eyes.
Proof that art is forever
Hi Erica!!! Thank you for making this short film. I was just learning one of Norma's songs and then came across this super important video you made. Then I was even more stoked to discover it's you who made it!!! Miss you, Erica. Thank you <3
I loved Cat Named Dog and the other tracks as well on her only album. RIP dear sweet lady .
She looked like a very happy lady and always busy, many talents.
Great film!
🙏🏽
One immensely talented human beings
Thank you Norma for touching my heart <3
Never has a track like "You're Dead" ever fitted so perfectly with a movie and TV show (what we do in the shadows) Thank you Norma.
No stranger am I is such a lovely track. It is one of my favorites from her album. Rest in peace Norma. thank you for posting this video of her :)
Thank you Erica T. for sharing this with us.
Amazing voice and infectious smile. May she RIP.
Thank you for this.
A person who seemed to very much love art and creativity. Little widely known about the spiritual philosophy she adopted and expressed, it would seem. By appearance she appears to have been a humble person. Interesting to note that she had many Dusty Springfield albums (out of admiration for Dusty Springfield's performance and the memory of their personal association, I guess) but Norma appeared content just having one tattered album cover and record mixed up amongst all of the others in her collection. Perhaps her humble disposition held her back a little with regard to her musical skills and talents. Who knows? A cat called dog song will always be associated with Norma and it's unlikely that anyone else could successfully produce their own rendition of it. By many accounts she led a full and contented life. R.I.P Norma Tanega.
Thanks, Erica. You made my day.
Wow. I only just discovered her. What an incredible talent
I never even knew about this woman till today. She sits very comfortably in my head alongside Joan Baez & Donovan
Trying to find actual live footage (not lipsynching they used to make them do) and interviews of tanega .. where is the complete pieces of video featured here? Seems like there should be some good stuff somewhere, no?
I've never heard of her until just before I posted this comment!
The lyrics she wrote to a J. S. Bach piece ate exceptional. Dusty recorded. Go softly goodbye Life is like an empty dream Lost in the sky I see through my tears The sadness of years The shadows of happiness passing I will miss the sun when you go I will miss the mornings of laughter and tears Your hello and more than this as you go Gone is the light from the day Gone is the pleasure of night And when you go no more welcoming love Or a dream So goodbye my love Goodbye So my love Go gently goodbye Memories of loving you never will die My longing will pass My loving will last The whispers of time never dimming I will miss your touch when you go I will miss the wonder of magical love As it grows and more than this when you go Gone is the warmth of your smile Now is the coldness of snow Gone when you go is the welcome of love And the dream So goodbye, my love Goodbye
Thanks for sharing the lyrics x
Learned of Sparks and Norma Tanega within a month of one and other. What a time to be alive. Thank you Al Gore for inventing the internet. It is a sad and beautiful world.
