I have a current generation wired freedom and I still have my Onyx cty2 which was my favorite bike by far, but they were plagued with poor batteries straight from the factory, and I got caught at the other end of town one day running doordash orders, and by the time I realized it the battery was so low that I damn near killed myself. Myself just trying to get the bike back across town to where I live. I haven't been able to fix that bike ever since, because I just don't know what's wrong with it. Lately I've been looking at that rear direct drive motor which is a qs 205 f direct drive motor, and I've been considering what I could do with it, because I'm tired of seeing it, sit there and gather dust. I wouldn't really like to install it on my current generation wired freedom, but I don't have enough faith in my ability to make such an install a reality. I know that my Onyx cty2 is said to have either a 100 amp or 200 amp controller, so I'm afraid that even though both bikes are 60v, that qs205 direct drive motor wouldn't get enough amperage from my wired freedoms stock 45 amp controller. I just don't want to go and screw up my bike or the motor, considering I wouldn't know what I was doing. One problem, is that the Onyx CTY2 has 17-in wheels, so I would have to figure out a way to get that direct drive motor installed on a 26-in wheel to make it compatible with my wired freedom.

If u got links for parts for future reference send some my way please future reference looking for 5k motor n a controller to match it if u can program ahead be awesome 2

If you have someone 3D print a spacer you can use a different seat post. Might take a few tries to get the diameter down but it will work.

This guy proves why these type of bikes have gotten reclassified as a Motor Vehicle. Anything that can go faster than 28 mph and weighs 60-70lbs has No Business on pedestrian shared pathways. Thank you California Legislators. They've started towing these Motor vehicles if caught on public trails

I been thinking about that new law in Cali for a bit and I think its designed to slow people down on E-bikes. Even tho you have the power to go hella fast doesn't mean you have to. Just be smart when you crack it up and make sure 5-0 isn't around and slow down on those city streets and you will be fine hopefully.

You and others like you are the reason, they placed the wording of the new law. FYI class 3 is grandfathered in as legal IF they are not modified. That they are as the manufacturer sold them (under the old law) with out changes by the buyer. My personal opinion as to cops confiscating bikes is it’s coming. The city needs money over the fires and illegal e~bikes are a revenue source.
