Metreon | Sony's Failed Mall of the Future
Просмотров 5 тыс.4 года назад
The Metreon was Sony's answer to the late-90s/early 2000s surge of "Urban Entertainment Centers", like Disney Quest, WWF New York, Universal CityWalk, as well as kid-themed arcade restaurants like Chuck E. Cheese's. With shops like the world's first Microsoft & PlayStation stores, attractions that took visitors to adventurous and futuristic lands, and an enormous IMAX movie theater, it's truly ...

Wii Remotes | a brief gaming history
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.5 лет назад
The Nintendo Wii was one of the most innovative consoles to be released, at least back in 2006. Of course, the most major selling point of this console was the Wii Remote, the greatest piece of motion-controls to be released at the time. However, as much as we've all played on the Wii, it seems as most of us don't know how we ended up with the iconic remote we've used for years on games like Wi...
FRIENDS...The Video Game?
Просмотров 15 тыс.5 лет назад
Friends was an era-defining sitcom that succeeded in building an audience that still happily watches the series today. This success has also translated into money. LOTS of it. Out of all of the Friends merchandise I've come across, this has to be one of the most bizarre. Today we'll be looking at Friends: The One with all the Trivia released for the PC and PlayStation 2 in 2005. This is a game ...
Analog Sticks | a brief gaming history
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.5 лет назад
The analog stick has undoubtedly become a crucial part of the present day console gaming experience. However, sometimes it seems as these little instruments of control don't get the credit they deserve for making video games so much easier to control. While many may associate the rise of analog sticks with Nintendo in the mid-90s, it's definitely worth taking a look at analog sticks before they...
What Happened to MVP Baseball?
Просмотров 15 тыс.5 лет назад
EA Sports' MVP Baseball series remains one of the most legendary but short-lived sports video game franchises ever to be released. Through its new features, details, and a massive number of teams, players, and stadiums, MVB Baseball became THE baseball game to play for the PC, Xbox, Nintendo Gamecube, and PlayStation 2. However, in 2005 at the series' peak, MVP Baseball disappeared seemingly ou...

Gaming on a "Portable" TV in Black & White?
Used to have a tv like that in mid 00's
ive recently played the nds speed racers. and man i wish i heard of this game sooner. i dont like racing games but this game is just pure fun
honestly! didn't play NDS much in childhood (I was a PSP kid) but this game had me locked in! Thanks for watching :)
Had this for road trips, used to hook up the PS2 to this and play Kingdom Hearts. Super impractical - but lots of fun when you have to sit in a car and do nothing for a few hours.
Peak nostalgia moment, I would have loved to have that experience as a kid! Thanks for watching :)
The Atari 2600 controller was the first controller with analog sticks that Nintendo copied in the design of the Nintendo 64 controller.
Got me a 1980 CCTV monitor in black and white, that will be hooked up with seperate speakers. I also have a Sony Watchman Mega, also B & W
I have one but mine doesnt have av inputs, only coax in a 3.5mm jack form
I miss mine, letterman & Colvert on it, pokemon Stadium 2
If only anyone ever knew how good the physics could be in that PS2/Wii game. Mostly just ps2, tbh, since one can't really do button combo attacks on physical Wii hardware.
Since this is the only place I could really brag about it... ...I got the Skull Duggery wallpaper from getting 10K points + winning on Speed Racer: Demon on Wheels ;) Took me a long time, though! Lots of trial and error! The Wii game was also amazing! Since it's in my top favorite franchises, I really don't want to see it die. It's so unique and full of character, and it doesn't take itself too seriously- just seriously enough, which is refreshing. As racing now is as big as it was in the 2000s, I think it's poised for a comeback.
nah you’re a savage for that score 🫡🫡🫡
I played the PS1 one a lot
Honestly I want JJ Abrams as far away from Speed Racer as possible, dude can't write to save his life.
Yes, he can. You just haven’t watched Mission: Impossible 3, proof positive that he can write a halfway decent adaptation of a 1960’s television series, and are basing your idea of his writing abilities wholly on two or so films from the last decade. Not to mention, the Speed Racer script he’d be working off of is one he wrote in the 90’s, well before his reputation took a hit.
@@imfsresidentotaku9699 I still don't trust him, the Wachowski's got it right, he won't get even remotely close.
i think parts of the metreon really tapped into the zeitgeist of the time but unfortunately it was more of a caricature than a genuine attempt to be at the cutting edge of the future. hard to say if something like this at scale could ever really be successful- even in a tech hub. regardless, it was a futuristic wonderland in my eyes and i had some really special times here with my dad as a kid playing hyperbowl and going to the discovery channel store. a far cry from the sf of today. thanks for making this video, it brought back some good memories
This was a really cool concept! I remember it being kinda mind blowing as a kid.
I didn't realize the n64's analog stick was announced first, but sega's came out first
Man, I remember figuring out how to play Demon On Wheels when I must have been like 4 or 5 years old, pretty sure I figured out how to play it on my own as well. I feel incredibly lucky to have experienced playing that as it really jumpstarted my love for racing games and Speed Racer as a whole
I have one I rock my Dreamcast on it, and watch DVDS on it. It has it's charm to it.
its cause since then kids cant aim with out aim assist back in 2000s analog stick were crap now 2024 better quality makes it like aim bot with aim assist its why it should be removed from games
We were poor growing up. My mom worked 3 jobs to care for 6 kids without government assistance. She managed to buy me a PS2 the year it came out. She couldn't afford much else, so every game was something I'd rent for a few days at a time. Only got the opportunity maybe once or twice a month. Almost directly after Christmas, our house was robbed. Took everything of value. TVs, Stereos, random things and my PS2. My mom worked hard, she tracked down a lot of what was stolen at local pawn shops and bought some of it back. Most of it she had to just buy all over again. I had to wait about a year to play the PS2 again. She managed to scrape some money together for a SNES between then and gave me her tiny TV she kept at her desk at work. I played F-Zero a lot during those days. Anyways, after about a year later we managed to get a PS2 again and I had been wanting to play Kingdom Hearts. I have a lot of great memories just sitting on a stool playing Kingdom Hearts on this tiny TV. It was in black and white, I had no memory card so I had to keep the PS2 running for the 2 days I had Kingdom Hearts. I played Destiny Island so many times. It wasn't perfect, but damn... I was thankful I got even that much. This TV was the exact same one I played Kingdom Hearts on. It made me think of those times. How hard my mom worked, how much we all collectively compromised. It was an important time in my life. Anyways, years later after I got a proper TV, memory card and both Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 to actually own. I played through Destiny Islands for days when I was home sick from school. I leveled just past level 80 before finally moving on to Traverse Town. Still can't get Wakka's "waah" out of my head from those days lol
Mine has a different Av port Uses six and it wont work lol
God I had so many good memories of the Metreon
Great video! Awesome dissection of the franchise. Besides the music being too loud at parts.
Hey did you use just normal rca cables to game ? My ps1 cables aren’t fitting they seem either too small or something
Yes, I used all OEM rca cables for this
WTF how does this still have 12 comments
Used to play n64 on one these as a kid
Where the wild things are was the place I went all the time as a kid the last time I was there was in January 2005 right before they closed and it was a shock to hear they closed literally a few months later. From this day I still miss it with all my heart and I don’t think I ever will get the closure from that place because I still miss it very much.
If it ever gets a new game it has to be based on the 2008 movie
No, it doesn’t. The original show offers endless possibilities.
Mine doesn’t show full screen you know what might be the problem? I connected it to some av cable but it’s not the original one
I swear I remember a top down multiplayer speed racer game, where players can upgrade their cars. Possibly on tye snes
Very informative, amazing 10/10
Glad you enjoyed!
Imagine some guy modding it and beating eldenring no damage
That quote sure was something
HELP ME! HELP ME! WTF!
How the f### would you hold the last one😊
lol this is hallarious hope mikerowesoft wins the case
I really wish they would put Evolution back in the Xbox store (or PS)
everyone does. Best in the series. RGH solves that. Ubisoft didn't want my money. *solved*
potentiometers...the worst thing that happened to controllers
Keep making videos 😊

Speed Racer. One of the best cartoons ever apart from many others. Including my personal favourite… Albert The 5th Musketeer.
Great video lost.saint. This is your best video by far.
I miss going there
I watched a video talking about these portable TVs it seems they where some of the last crt tvs ever made since they where produced in the late 2000s they where mass produced and sold very cheaply some of them had color but some dident
I bet Bill Gates wants to rename himself to mike rowe
Just a quick note about Trials 2, the series' actual first time in 2.5D was the full Trials 2 that came out for PC in 2007, which the Flash version is actually advertising. With a different looking rider, sounds from the Flash version, tiny differences in the level layouts, and just a portion of the levels that SE had (16 instead of SE's 40). It shortly after got updated to the Second Edition and the 2007 Trials 2 got almost erased from existence.
Recent history is so poorly documented.
i have this buy mine doesnt have the yellow white things wtf
Beautiful style of video/audio, thanks. I create historic game videos too and i understand how hard is it. As for Speed racer; looking at these footages the game might be interesting only to japanese kids, so no much regret about it loost in the time.
Then your lack of regret is completely superficial. Not only is that a terrible reason to let this classic be “loost in the time,” American gamers enjoy these games (as explicitly stated in the video), with many of them being made by non-Japanese developers. That’s how much Speed Racer popularized anime in the west, so “interesting only to japanese kids” my foot. You can’t just dismiss this great series with such flimsy reasoning and no elaboration. Some people might like what Japanese kids like.
We need speed racer 2 movie ???
You doing a nice job of making those lists, nice narration, a quick review, great video buddy, keep it up
