    Yep, definitely with you on a lot of this. Really grateful for the conference and the opportunity to connect with a few other serious folks there, but there was an inordinate volume of fluff going on too. I actually spent almost all of my time talking with other legit attendees out in the common areas and doing interviews, didn't even get a chance to listen to the speakers so thanks for the recap. Great trip to Singapore either way! 🥳

    Update, I think the idea of 'zuzalu' 'is the thing' is a bit outdated in terms of how the different popups are cooperating and competing at the same time. something is emerging. balaji's 'network school' is part of this 'coopetative' process where something in the popup travelling space is beginning to emerge. I have plenty of focus on israel here, but I could also have a focussed a bit on things like burning man that also are substantial examples of success on an IRL basis. existing music and 'live-in' festivals like burning man are the true popups with a huge historical runway and proof of success. We dont' where all the popups are going now, and they are often net unsustainable ( money losers ) . Also, the point of these popups is not to establish a new traveling resort AS a business model. The model is to aggregate talent and skill in organizing people in a mobile sense. Lessons to be learned sure, but eventually a goal must be chosen to pursue. What is the end goal of all these popups, what is their role in cultivating this new movement? It is perhaps to early to tell, but people like 'alpha barry' formerly of Praxis have a lot to say about what to learn from 12 months of failure to materialize some of the visions in this space. what can be learn and how can we shed the unhelpful and directionless effort in this space?

    You gotta pay.. to go to a free place in the middle of the desert. Land that otherwise is completely unused. But pay $300 to drive out to the free place... Bring all your own resources and then drive home. So much for Religion.. Unless you mean Capitalism. This is what pisses me off about burning man. It used to be an enlightened event. Now it's a frat house for young people to "get some pussy" at. Vey unfortunate.

    I think I was brought to tears at least 3 times in the past 20 minutes... Wow such an eloquent description of the quality and flaw of the human spirit. The world needs more speakers like this and more festivals like burning man!

    Good point on the 'open borders' stance. Tribes need borders man, and we need tribes. If you meet the same dunbars number of people every day you develop reciprocal relationships with them, but if people can infiltrate in any community they like no one can stop people from doing the game-theoretic equivalent of playing black without a tit-for-tat system giving negative feedback.

    My personal USER REVIEW : Location UK FINAL VERDICT : DONT BUY any of these unreliable bikes. They will fail you unsuspectingly in few weeks of usage. I had two diff brands (one was HIMO Z20 by Xiomi) for few months till recently. Don't be fooled by the fancy specs.... Review points below : 1. The electronics and battery is a gimmick, will FAIL you suddenly after few weeks of use, unexpected power surges and make it ACCIDENT prone on the road. 2. The bike is TOO heavy to fold by just one person and the latches to fold are super hard that fingers slip and hurt. The bike folds too thick which is never shown in the vids properly. Taking them in and out of train was a nightmare 3. Assisted range is LESS than 20 km or 12-13 miles, then it becomes a dead weight to cycle hard. The odo never displays the true range and barely visible in the daytime. 4. Headlight is just a fancy KIDS torchlight. The seat pump is seems good to have at first but adds to deadweight, this impractical, it better to have a small pump handy instead which is just a few grams. 5. The WORST is the customer service, they will motivate you to just get rid of this junk to some unsuspecting second owner, instead to giving a service assistance/ advice or a prompt refund.

    Very interesting documentation. I think that Urban-E thing is way over-engineered and not viable for generic use cases, especially outside of NYC/Amazon. In Germany/Europe we have seen so many attempts and the easy, simple, reliable things work the best. Not only with trailers but also with cargo bikes.

    Hey Zeev, in the pedal assist mode, can you control how much assistance it gives you once you go past the speed that triggers assistance? In some bikes, if you go past, say, 5mph, the assistance just kicks in and throws everything at you and you jerk forward uncontrollably! Is it like this?

    • @zeev
      @zeev 4 года назад

      the peddal assist kicks in from zero miles an hour...unlike the delayed throttle . pedelec assist cannot be changed. and controller cannot be unrestricted. i will often press the button to get into pedal asssit mode at a red light/stop. then i will get boost while starting. once im moving ill change into throttle mode and just pedal and use thottle to get more power.
