Installing an OPT7 Triple Row Lightbar on a 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss
If I can avoid any permanent modifications, I will. I was able to install this light bar without drilling into the truck, sticking 3m tape, or cutting factory wiring. Light bar was easy to install and looks great!

Adding Wireless Charging to my 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.10 месяцев назад
The Nite Ize Steelie Orbiter Plus Dash Kit allows me to create a phone mount using the Apple MagSafe charger. No more plugging in or removing any charging cables when getting in the truck. Just hop in and simply place my phone on the mount.
Things are coming loose on my 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss??
Просмотров 8 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Heard about the issues with fuses being loose, so I opened the hood and heard this "pop" noise. To my surprise found a loose piece part of what's referred to by GM as the "Air Inlet Grille Panel Extension." Part# is 84768378 Will try to be ordering this part when back in stock to see if mine was a dud.
2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Desert Boss Hash Marks on a Trail Boss

I've always loved hash marks on trucks and muscle looking cars. I think GM did a great job on the design of the hash marks for the ZR2. So let's go ahead and make our own!

Installing the Bak Revolver x4s on a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss

Installing the Bak Revolver x4s on a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss. This is a very simple installation and the instructions are made very clear. I only had to make one 1/16th of adjustment to put slight tension on the seal against the tailgate as I mentioned in the video. Luckily we got a rain storm and checked for water intrusion and the bed was completely dry. This cover has benefits of ...
2023 Chevrolet Colorado Surface Rust
Просмотров 9 тыс.Год назад
Started noticing an orange puddle under the truck after a couple days of rain and found some surface rust developing. I went ahead and sanded those down to bare metal and covered them with some spray on bedliner to prevent those little nicks from turning into a rust problem in the future.
My trail boss is black and the chrome really annoys me. I like how yours turned out. I'd probably pay someone to do it, but I don't know that I feel like doing that three times on my own lol.
I just got a 2024 in March and it has the exact same problem.
Since making this video I can tell you it doesn’t fly off or “loosen” more. It was a little annoying at first when I found out but I’ve gotten well over it by now. Just hit 1 year with my truck last weekend and I still love my truck as much as the day I picked it up!
Looks good I gotta get one of them too!!!
Do you have a link for the cover
realtruck.com/p/bak-revolver-x4s-tonneau-cover/
I have a wireless charger in my LT,But my phone has a Otter Box case and it does not connect well.
Is the bowtie black from the factory, or did you paint it? If it is painted what did you use
Factory
What fuse did you tap into? Does it turn off with the truck? I want to not have to mess with the remote.
F25. It’s a switched fuse so it only powers on when the truck is on and powers off when the truck is off. While the truck is on you can control them from the app however you’d like. If you leave them on, they remember to turn on when you turn the truck back on.
@@Mi4mi_joe F25. Perfect, Thank you for the response.

Those lights look way better than I was thinking they would. Which specific GoVee RGBIC kit did you use? They make them in a bunch of different lengths.
They still look great to this day! The one I ordered wasn’t a particular length. It’s a kit made specifically for a car. Try searching “Govee RGBIC Interior Car Lights.”
@@Mi4mi_joe Excellent. Had the truck for a week now so already looking into mods. Thanks.
How due i change my gages it seems like my truck dint come with tfat one
I have a black '20 ZR2, and i did this and the chrome around the blacked out bowties with red. I did it 3 years ago and i off-road it a lot, and i live where it gets into the high 90s in summer and below -40 often in the winter and its held up really good.
How did you get the glossy black mirrors??
It came like that. I’m not sure if the Trail Boss has that standard or if it came with one of the packages I got.
@@Mi4mi_joe mine did not come with the glossy mirrors.
@@TheSodFather09 must have been one of the packages. Do you have the 360 degree cameras?
@@Mi4mi_joe I do not have 360 camera
@@TheSodFather09 so it may be part of the technology package.
Do u have the exact measurements of the cut out
Best cover on the market!
100% still love it as much as day 1. Holding up great!
Until the vinyl cracks and separates from the aluminum slats…Or until you need to roll it up in cold/freezing weather. 😂
Mine same issue but also trim in bottom center of windshield has a gap Dealership is going to look at it when I get recall for the forward crash detection remedied.
Nice work!
Thanks!
Jealous of the lights, brother
Nice truck🖤
@@claytonlirot5538 thanks!!
Had the same issue with my '23 Colorado. Went by the dealership & had a service writer look at it. Interestingly that dealership (Hendrick Richmond) had not seen that before. They tried to fix the issue, but ended up ordering another piece of cowl molding. Part came in in about a couple of weeks. Part installed, problem corrected.
do you know what the part number was that fixed the thing?
The same thing happens with the fender flares, I got a 52 k tuck that’s falling apart
That looks awesome!!!
That emblem/logo comes right off.
great job, there is any way u can share the file ?
Did you spray/plasti dip the wheels or powercoat?
My wheels are factory.
Really so i was going to order the same ones and they are black and silver - unless you got different wheel options - im ordering the 2024 z71@@Mi4mi_joe
@@JohnnyJourneys I think they only come with the Trail boss. They’re the 20” high gloss black.
Did my light bars with elmers glue. 😂. But seriously I used a wireless remote and only had to wire to the battery in my 23' Trail boss
😂
Sticky tape doesn't work in Montana 😂
any chance you can give me the file?
Nice looking truck ! Waiting till next summer to black out the emblems on my ZR2
Thanks! I ended up redoing mine months later with regular plastidip, love the results I got much more.
@Mi4mi_joe Good to know ! I was prepared to do it last summer, but someone told me to wait a couple of months for the clear on the truck to cure first, and so I waited.
can you point us to your magnets and wire accessories you used as well ? what all comes with the lightbar?
Just updated my description with the links. As far as connectors and heat shrink, that's generic at any hardware store. Thanks for watching!
Really enjoying these videos… keep it up
Thanks for watching!
The ZR2 also has a black decal on the hood to prevent glare. I think you could do something cool with that as well
I took the decals off my truck a couple days ago! 😂 going to clay bar and ceramic wax the body. But I’ll check that out!
@@Mi4mi_joe dang dude a lot of work to just remove it later lol but seems like you enjoy tinkering here and there. Are you going to make a video of the wax job? I think the ceramic will be clutch in south Florida with the sun and salt
@@philrizzuti5790 oh yea I love tinkering around then I get bored and do new things haha I just literally finished a clay bar and ceramic wax on the truck but didn’t film it. You can check out my results here www.coloradofans.com/threads/clay-bar-ceramic-wax-7-months.441426/post-5589528
@@Mi4mi_joe looks great!
That is a defect in the 2023 Ranger, GM should correct that on a recall. Yes the fuses were loose in my fuse box too, I don't mind correct loose fuses, but the plastic past that comes detached, that requires a simple recall.
Good luck getting it fixed. Parts been on order two months now.
There’s no point in ordering a replacement if the piece itself is not manufactured correctly. Although I have separation, mine hasn’t popped out again since. Not too concerned about it at this point.
Should have used something more moisture proof on that reverse wire.
I could still slap a thicker heat shrink over and cut that if I ever need to access it. Thanks!
Nice. Easy and non intrusive install. Thx Joe
Thanks!
That thing looks awesome! Nice solutions to not permanently modify your truck too. 👍
Thank you!
Good job man, I’d love to have that lightbar but I absolutely suck at “DIY”. I have to see if I could have it installed by a professional lol Good video!
Thanks for watching! Everyone starts somewhere!
@mkvgti07 We all start somewhere, I think this would be a great place to start. the hardest part would be the reverse pin, though if your not confident with that part you can Just not connect it. other option you likely have a handy friend that can lend an assist with it :)
Very nice, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Been looking into getting this truck! What dealership did you get this and did you get a good deal? I live in South Florida as well!
I got it in Miami Lakes. I wouldn’t say I got the best deal but I happened to walk in the day it was delivered and they sell very quickly. I had a down payment put down on one in Estero, FL but was bare. This truck is almost fully loaded and was only $3k more than the one I had reserved. So I was able to get a refund on the Estero truck and snagged this one.
That looks awesome, great job. 👍🏻
Same exact issues on mine. Both my drivers and passenger side cowles don’t align. My fuses needed pushed in too. Also, I was getting an interior noise and turns out it was the microphone wire in my headliner. Also, was there a fix for the steering cover being lose?
My favorite youtuber! LOL
This guy 😂😂😂
That's why you don't buy a new vehicle design in it's first year. You wait a few years so they can get out all the bugs and design flaws worked out. It took them almost 4 years for Chevy to realize that they messed up with the 2015 Colorado transmission. I'm sure in the next few years there's going to be more things that will start going wrong.
Great video, Joe! Just installed this on my '23 ZR2 and your walk-through was very helpful. Cover came with 2 broken plastic end caps so Bak packaging can use some improvement plus the caps are real thin and flimsy to begin with (they are sending me replacements). Definitely agree with what have you mentioned; with the X4S you get the look of a hard cover with the versatility to roll it up for full bed access without blocking your rear window. Question for you: Is your cover slightly raised where it meets the tailgate? Mine doesn't seem to sit completely flush against the top of the gate, there's maybe a 1/4" gap where I can see the rubber gasket along the whole width, especially at the corners. Yes, my end caps are currently broken but I don't think even with intact caps this would decrease the spacing. I did make sure the rails were flush against the cab and leveled everything out as I installed it so not sure if this is just a function of the design. Supposed to rain tonight so I guess I'll find out if any water is getting in. Thanks again!
Thanks for the feedback! Glad my video helped you out. Mine does stick up too, however I realized this is due to the raised ruler on the tailgate not letting the cover come down flush. Mine is a 1/4” of space, but when it rains it’s completely sealed. In my opinion I think that ruler bulge helps the rubber seal close that gap. But it’s been no issue with mine! Water does get in at times but from the corners. This depends on the angle of the rain and if you’re driving while it’s raining. But it’s very minimal.
Dose your truck have noisy cold start for about 15 seconds?
If noisy you mean the turbo spinning? Yes. But not sure what you mean by noisy.
thanks so much. I like this solution because I have my cellphone mounted currently to my 21' Canyon on the left side of the center screen in the ac vent because it keeps the phone up high to see because even with the Android Auto matching the screen it doesn't match everything on your cellphone so I can easily see whats on the screen at that height. Since the new 23' Colorados/Canyons don't have the vents between the center screen and the driver info screen there is no place to mount it there so on the other side of the screen is perfect even though I will keep mine plugged in for charging having my cell there is much better for viewing and using while driving. Thanks for the set up video
This set up has been working amazing for me. Glad this helped you. You can always upgrade to a magnetic charger in the future.
You post the link to the Govee lights? Thx
Funny how the UAW want to get paid more when they can’t even get the basics right.
I like a lot of the things you have done with your truck but this is a horrible idea,, what I did was buy a short cable for my Apple 14 plus, it sits perfectly plugged into tray and charges fast,,,I don’t want the world seeing my phone, I allready keep my phone charged in my house anyways! I don’t want nothing STUCK to my 41k truck, you do know their are two other places you can sit your phone, between both sets of cup holders theirs a slit made for your phone, I figured this out on my own I never hear anyone talk about this! I also own a C6 Corvette and the guy that owned it before me stuck something like what you have to the dash,,and it sucks cause if I remove it you’ll see the glue, it might clean off or it might not and I don’t want to risk ruining my dash!
I need to be able to have multiple screens of information in the work I do, on the way to properties. It’s helpful to have GPS with upcoming turns or property details I need to learn on the drive there. It eliminates the safety hazard of looking down at my phone and taking a hand off the steering wheel while driving. It looks really good the way I have it set up. 3M adhesive is not anything to worry about. It’s easily removable with goo gone and a buff with isopropyl alcohol. I also need my battery charging while I drive to sites. I use my phone to sketch properties so in between my appointments I need to be able to charge and view information. Everyone has their own needs. I like this way better than mounting it to a suction cup, with wires dangling everywhere. The way I set it up had all wire completely out of my way. All I have to do is slap my phone on to the mount, rather than fiddling with the phone to plug in a wire. This is safer. Keeps my eyes on the road, hands on the wheel and my phone charged. Just my experience with this set up since I made this video.
Brother did you ever fix the steering column covers mine is doing the same only have one bolt on top
Nope, I just leave it as is. lol May just be manufactured that way.
