So cool to see this
What a real treat! Just discovering so much published on my Great uncle Owens online. I remember visiting him and Jenny when daddy and I went to the Hollar. I wasn't raised in KY but my grandparents, Daddy and siblings lived right there in the hollar and had the privilege of hearing and appreciating this genre of music. It's something I've come to appreciate as an adult and what a treasure to find Uncle Owens online. My father and my grandson were both named after him so this archive means so much.
Is this where the Briley Brothers grew up
I knew some of these people.
I live across Main St from this CEMENTARY!
I live just down the road
This is so swell and priceless. Tore me up when Gary left us. Still listen to his 8 tracks, best music and voice anywhere.
Damn…in a great way.
On top of being a pure talented musician , Hasil was a colorful character ! 👍👍
Thank you very much for the upload. Love Hasil Adkins' songs ! He is a musical genius ! 👍👍

Go😊of job uncle
Seems like there are several versions of this little birdie song. I believe this is Mr. Sexton’s own version. Very cool
The restoration of this film was beautifully done, thanks for preserving and sharing.
Before we had everything.
Awesome music fan
True originals and natural eccentrics like him are rare as the proverbial hen's teeth.

He's not shouting. Why is she shouting?
There was zero (0) crack in the de cades I lived there.
Dont let American folklore die.
Do you know who Nora Brown is? If you don’t, you’re welcome

That's Churchill!❤❤ Love my city. It's gentrified now.
👎👎👎👎👎 The more I hear R.S. play banjo, the less I like his playing, especially when he plays clawhammer style. Wade Ward is #1.
Such a wise young woman. I hope she gets the care she needs
I bought one cassette I enjoy his music, when my heart is broken, his music I touched my feelings thank you I go forward
Kathie says…BEAUTIFUL!!! I Love it!!!🥰🌺

Bussed in 71 to Baker Street Elementary from Cherokee Road. I found new and different cultural norms. Sometimes things got scary but my best friends were always there to help my naive a**. Those schoolmates taught me to appreciate everyone; 52 years ago. Carl and Jeffrey. I love them for what they shared of themselves. Go Rams!
Really miss Gary .
28th and Leigh Streets, the old house next to the store with six windows is still there. store is gone
He was my grandfather I watched him play sure miss him
I agree with the folk in the Cumberland gap video. All these recordings of Morgan should be in the national archive. Really captures old America/old times, hardships of past days, the rough and tough American blue collar worker, and much more.
💯 agree❣️
Some people just aren't cut out for this whole civilization thing

Is that Dudley?
Does anyone have any lyrics from this? I can piece out a few parts to each verse but his accent is too thick for me to catch all the words
Yessir ❤
I lived in Richmond (far West End, Henrico County, and for a while, Powhatan) from 1987 to 1993, and absolutely loved the place. Of all the places I ever lived (an Air Force brat), it remains one of my favorites.
What a beautifull video and interpretation! Love this song and the banjo sound, greetinngs and much love from mexico
