What exactly is a prosecutor doing secretly listening in on conversations between a defendant and his attorney? This is a total Constitutional violation.

Wow. This guy played a corrupt D.A. In Criminal Intent too. Lol.

There was an episode, after this one and after the shooting at City Hall, where Melnick once again tried to use the courtroom to pursue her own political agenda. Near the end of the show, McCoy had it with her and more or less told her to stop using the courtroom to change policy or pursue her own political ideas. If you want to do that, quit your job and go into politics. Or something to that effect.

Should have played for time, given his wife time to escape to another state. Extradition unlikely given the fact that prosecuting her was not in good faith. Extradition can be refused when the prosecuting state acts in bad faith.

As an ACTUAL Irish kid, I wouldn’t have burned her as McCoy did. In our culture as is used to be, family, friendship, and loyalty are thicker than water. I would have either figured a way around, or just flat-out looked the other way. It’s in my DNA.

He shouldn't have charged her,though, knowing it was her client, even if she had to be charged,if so, someone else should've.

They really should have flipped her character more, she was the most unlikeable ADA the show had in it's time. they should have made her worse, especially with the rich-disconnect.

I always loved when they heeled Jack McCoy, he would get all self righteous and then they would tell him to sit his ass down. LOL

They didn't call him "hang em high McCoy" for nothing.

You know it was a bit disturbing seeing Melnick so vulnerable. There's a couple female lawyers in the show who are hard as nails, and she's probably the toughest one I've seen. It really shouldn't be surprising for her to suddenly drop the tough act, but I was a little taken back just watching her walls come crumbling down, and resort to a simple desperate plea.

Sorry, but McCoy's argument is not convincing. We learn by watching others and imitating them. Although no one really has free will, we must act as if we do to justify holding those society deems criminals accountable for their anti-social, sociopathic, behaviors. Some humans are just too dangerous to be allowed to live freely in the general population.

The real criminals would have really loved this loony bin handing out reward money left and right for bogus leads that gets handed down to the police department wasting their time. This would be a crime open season and field day all over the place lol.

Melnick was one of my favorite defense attorneys, though I loved Elaine Stritch's Lanie Stieglitz as well.

Jamie would ultimately leave the DA's office within that year, the scene at the end I think was a foreshadowing of that. She would come back as a defense attorney in a couple of episodes and end up as a judge in the short-lived "Trial By Jury". The show didn't do well in the ratings, and Jerry Orbach's death early on was I think another blow to it.

That was _miles_ away from "inevitable discovery". The number of leaps it took was breathtaking.

Regardless or not as a result of her actions, someone was killed in regards to the ADA. She is at fault.

With the stunning announcement recently of law and order being revived for a 21st season, who else would like to see Jamie reprise reprise her role as a judge? We last saw her as a recurring guest star in law & order trial by jury where she played a very interesting and ethical judge. If the rumor is true that they want to bring back former characters, with her it wouldn't be difficult!

I was shocked by this episode. Do you know how many times she was the lawyer? I expect to see dirty cops. I've even seen a lot of dirty lawyers. But a lawyer we've seen all the time? Crazy.

I feel bad for Danielle, fuck she gets shot at the end of this episode too! But man... this is why you follow the orders of the judge as you don't know what information you pass on will do to someone!

This was the one and only time I saw Detective Fontana. He went completely Frank Burnside/The Sweeney on that guys ass. Loved it. I wish there were more episodes with Fontana shown on 5USA.
