Before getting the engine in, I thought this was the perfect moment to give the underbody some love. This isn’t a full underbody resto by any means but perfect time to do it with the fenders off and trans/engine still not in the car! We’ll finish the job later down the road :) probably when we do subframe bushings or something like that..

The Abandoned 300zx's engine bay is finally stripped down from all of its clutter and grease so we can get to work on prepping the engine bay for paint. Little sanding, little seam sealer work, little rust conversion/stripping and she'll be mint.

For sure!! The IC7 is super cool! Would be a great upgrade for an FB. Next FC video will have the IC7 dash install I think… or I’ll do a whole video on the IC7. Haven’t made up my mind haha

I have never had any issues with Specialtyz products or customer service, Sebastian is always on his email as well to answer customer questions. I have been with Specialtyz since 2016 with a tuned 300zx and 350z HR. I do also like Z1Motorsports as well. But forsure Specialtyz all the way🤘🏽 Nice Z btw brotha.
@@projectzs1993 hell yeah, that’s what I like to hear! I’ve actually called Sebastian a good few times trying to figure out some of my issues haha. Dude is always super helpful which is awesome. Lol my Z1 is experience hasn’t been as great for sure 😂 every time I’ve called in about a product the guys are all Z33+ ppl and have no clue about the Z32 products usually. But I can’t complain about getting 1-2 day delivery on Nissan parts, that’s for sure! Thanks bro ❤️ I appreciate it

I always recommend SpecialtyZ all the way to skip the AMS headaches. Buy once and cry once for better quality.
@@zxline Could not agree more. They are absolute legends over there and have helped with my troubleshooting on getting the car running correctly. Proper good people. When I pulled the trigger on the AMS stuff I was definitely being naive thinking it would be smooth/I was trying to meet a deadline for a buddy.. which blew up on me right from the get go on delivery times 😅
You should let someone else work on your car.

I own a well kept 1992 300zx twin turbo. I would definitely let you paint it outside lol. Great job on that engine bay. Couldn't believe the results but the video is proof.

What size are your wheels? 17 or 18 to clear the new brakes? My z is in desperate need of a big brake kit
The Regas are 17” and are probably one of the worst wheels for brake clearance lol! Will definitely fit these Z33 brembos but R35’s probably won’t fit and I don’t think Akebonos would fit behind them. Something like a 18” TE you can fit about any kit behind it though(I think 17” Te can fit a 6 pot..) Can confirm though, it’s a welcomed upgrade over the stock brakes with some nice pads 👍.
@@Radwerkes oh, awesome! I prefer the look of a 17 on my 300. 18s are too big for me, but most big brake kits require them. I will definitely be looking into this option.
@@Zed32_Customs I 100% agree, 17” is the best for the Z32. Some 18” are aight in my eyes.. but the car came with 19s which was waaayyy too much lol. But yeah, these brakes should work with most 17s! Good luck dude ❤️

nice work brother! yeah ams is hit or miss, they are good for non technically precise applications lol. but they do work and they price is perfect for low budget. otherwise we would all be buying a complete polar engineering setup and be broker then a joke with perfect part fitment lol. gotta love TWIN-anything car. double the price. but then again double the smiles when done.. well not really but pretty damn close lol. Duuuuude I’m telling ya. The AMS stuff has made me question my sanity as my first move isn’t to start Cutting A: the product I just bought or B: my car. My first reaction is I’m doing something wrong lol. It has its place but MAN there’s so many little things I wish I knew before buying. It’s a good happy middle ground… with a lot of headaches. @05:46, as long as you install those aftermarket, stainless steel fender liner sheilds witht he vent slits for the intercooler air flow. youll have no problem with that tire to intercooler clearance. also once cae is on ground and suspsension is compressed, you shoud gain a little bit of extra space. but yeah the metal fender splash sheild will protext your new silicone booost intercooler hoses from any damage.
I actually haven’t seen those inner liners! I’ll take a look around for those, thanks for the tip. It did get better clearance with a load.. but still closer than I’d like haha
use a large C-clamp to compress that bracket down on bushing to get bolt threads started, you have the 2 long bolts with pointed tips, not a flat tip bolt? correct?
Ahhh good tip again! It is the uhhh shouldered bolts or centering bolts?? Whatever they call that style but yes. I tried to get it to compress but it just wasn’t having it what so ever lol. The stock bushing went in like a Breeze and same with the passenger side poly bushing.. I’m convinced it’s just a wrong bushing

Maybe get a same style 5 spoke wheels for z as well, the z accomodates that wheel style very nicely
It seriously is such a good looking wheel on the Z... Probably will since the off sets are slightly off for the Z compared to the GTR. GTR is safe for now haha
i had to chop and swap my rear quarter panel. finally got all that body work. so now im focused on the underside of the car before i go on to reassembling the fuel tank, subframes, breaks ect. then respraying the outside of the car. appreciate that info!

First time seeing about the coating I guess that's why the z31 and z32 were marketed as luxury grand tourer , where as they saw the GTR as raw sports car
Exactly! its pretty interesting if you ask me. Z31/Z32 were some of the best quality cars coming out of Nissan for their respective times.

Dude, I'm telling you. These bugs have it OUT for me haha. Glad you're enjoying it, the build is getting close! I've got some stuff to catch up/edit/upload on the GTR's and then I also have some unique Bavarian stuff!
love the videos, do NOT use the center divider in your ams down pipes, it will cause you to have boost creep if you want to run anything over 12 psi. just re locktight those bolts into the down pipes to seal the holes. and leave those dividers in the scrap bin.. they will cause you tuning issues down the road if you decide to crank the boost up. ask me how i know. this is well known in z32 community sadly.
Noted! Thanks for the info, I had seen some talk about boost creep but never did see any evidence(probably didn't spend enough time digging). I was looking at running roughly 15psi for the near future.
Where did You get those braided coolant lines?
You know, I was trying to find my order for these to link in the description and I couldn’t find it.. but you can find a very similar kit on e-bay as “300zx turbo coolant line kit” and it seems that some of the companies are offering a kit with a stubby line so if you don’t want to upgrade your heater core pipes, you don’t have a 2 foot spaghetti monster in the bay 😂

Totally didn’t expect it! lol as I thought the turbos got made in Japan as well. (I know the car is made and Japan, and I know my GTR Garret turbos were made in Japan)

nothing wrong with ams in my book, owner is a z32 guy. If ms didn't patent his manifolds he made a bad business decision same with bde engine mounts and pipes are pipes. E85 and 20psi with that setup should see 500whp
That was exactly my thought process going into it. Had the mindset of quick, cheap and easy. but everything kicked my ass so hard on the install side of things 😂 I shouldn’t complain about any of it really.. but fit/finish along with I can’t help but think some of the pipes weren’t 100% in the right position for install has me a little jaded now lol. You’re right though, it should be good for that 500 number, I was hoping for like 400 area on pump
Pay the price for quality parts...cry once...The z32 is a japanese Ferrari. The reason why AMS is so frowned upon is because all they do is copy the quality stuff and farm it out to china. Meanwhile the person or shop that put in the R&D and spent all the money loses out every time.
Very true, if I was to do it again. I would have just re-used a lot of my stock parts and waited for the polar kits. unfortunately for my situation of when I bought all the parts they were the only ones labeled “in stock” which was a lie.. also money did have a factor to play but it is a ces’t la vie moment.
