I wish there wasn’t a word for just moving into another phase of life! Do we have a word for starting a life in the work force when we’re young? Un Retirement? 😂 I think just the word creates a stigma .. you’re old! Everyone has to learn how to handle their free time! It’s a process of figuring out what satisfies them .. I think, as you said have s couple of things you might want to do each day, but don’t have a breakdown if you decide to do something different.. it’s your time! Enjoy!!

Totally agree. My sister retired right when the pandemic hit. She stayed in her house and never cleaned her house. She was depressed and also starting having all kinds of health problems. She died after 3 years of retirement. 67 years old. So sad. I am 64 working part time in retail and getting social security. I do t want to end up like she did. I walk 2 miles per day and working in retail and being on my feet all day helps me. I have seen so many people go down after retirement. I think I will keep working as long as I am able to. No health problems yet, thank you GOD.

It can be a difficult transition because you have ended a way of life, and many fear change. It's truly a Mindset...choose anything to get started, then continue on until you find what brings peace and fulfillment. Tell yourself encouraging things...like 'you look pretty' or 'you can do this, I have full confidence in you...etc. use words to uplift. Be kind and love yourself, it's okay to be the recipient of your efforts❤

I retired at 64 to care for my husband. For 7 years I devoted my time to his care, and I totally lost who I thought I was! I had a 43-year career in science education working with diverse groups reduced to zero. I had to adjust to doing all things at home without his support. It's been 4 years since he passed, and the work i have done is centered on healing, finding my purpose, raising my vibration and focusing on intuitive development. I truly feel guided when i speak to my higher power. When i take time to listen, I gain insight and direction from God. Divine intervention has lifted my spirit and schooled me many times 😅! Also, i am learning piano and love to water color. Rebounding (saw that you enjoy rebounding too!) and QiGong, walking, swimming, are how I stay active. Thank you for being a positive light and sharing your lived experiences, I hope you are inspired to continue sharing your journey ✨️. 'We are all walking each other home' ...🎉🎉❤

well said. It matters to stay active and engaged in life. I think it is too easy to become self absorbed with every little ache and pain if we don't choose to have things to do

Retirement for me has ups and downs but you’re so right about keeping our brains active. I knit and crochet and working different patterns keeps the mind working!

Retirement is a blessing. I am out looking for work and can't find it and I have to work because if I don't I'll be homeless.If only I could retire and do what I want. All you who are retired are blessed. Go live your life and enjoy! I'm in my 60's and I wish I could retire.

Hi Sheila. I love your background and love birds on throw pillows. I retired one year ago. It has been a transition. I was so happy at first and then started getting depressed. People from work faded away. Now I am having contentment for what I am blessed with. I am just happy to wake up and thank God for blessing me for today. I am going to bed early and I think that helps me too. When I retired I started staying up late and wake up out of sorts. Today me and my husband took a walk and the weather was like a false spring. I listened to the birds and just looked up at the sky and gave thanks. I am trying to appreciate each day. Thank you for your wisdom. It truly helps me. God Bless you my friend. ❤🤗🙏🏻

Great Video. I was able to retire at 60 under my husband's Railroad Pension and I really enjoy not having to go to a job every day. I definitely planned as much as possible for what I would be doing during retirement. It almost feels like I have a full time job sometimes because I'm so busy. I joined a large Church and made friends before I actually retired. I also keep in touch and have breakfast with a group of ladies I used to work for and also have dinner a few times a year with a younger coworker. My son and grandson live a few miles away so I see them often. I have been trying to do new things, taken up paint by numbers in the winter and I do hiking/walking year round and I got myself a rebounder after watching your video. Health and staying active is a priority to me. I also try to have a vacation every year as well as some smaller trips. We had built a small cabin style home on our mini-farm for my parents and I now use it as an AirBnB. I also have goats and chickens. So like I said it doesn't seem like I"m retired alot of the time. I belong to an older ladies group at Church and our Scripture verses are Psalm 92:12-14. We know that God's not done with us yet, no matter what our age.

Sheila, What you said is so true. I have learned through the many years, we think oh how happy I will be if we could get that new car or something new for our home. We sometimes get those things we want and at first we have that happiness but then it fades away quickly. It’s not the material things in this life that gives us peace and joy it’s knowing that my Savior promised us, “ I will never leave you nor forsake you”. I claim that promise to him. I had my regular checkup in 2019. I have had this dermatologist for many years. She scans so fast, but nothing gets by her. She saw a place on my check close to where yours is and a spot on my leg. Took biopsy, the one on my chest was squamous cell carcinoma and on the leg basil. She does not do Mohl's surgery. She took out a good slice on the chest and leg. Good thing when the results came back it was all gone. She did a great job stitching and the scars are barely noticeable. Yes, squamous if let go can get into the bloodstream. People get your body checked. It could save your life. As she was operating on me, she told me of a young girl in her 20's who had come into see her with a place and it was too late. It was melanoma that had already went into the bloodstream and she passed away.

With all the baby boomer generation retiring there are alot of videos being made about retiring and how you should have something to retire to. When I retired everyone ask me what I was going to do. I wanted contentment and a slow simple life.

I personally feel like I choose to be happy because if I just depend on circumstances, people or feelings, then I can never be totally happy. I agree we should seek contentment in any circumstance.
