ruclips.net/channel/UCP01ageJjSKePe0uvJFU9Uw We are Zentec Garage, an old, retired race driver from Bloxwich and an old, retired race engineer from somewhere near Manchester, who apart from watching old racing videos on RUclips, spend all their time arguing and sometimes restoring old cars and bikes in a 600m² workshop man-cave in Southern Spain. British Saloon Car Championship 1968 Round 4 Brands Hatch

For the British Grand Prix meeting at Brands Hatch, Hubert Hahne, better known for his BMW drives, was in the Malcolm Gartlan Falcon instead of Hobbs and justified his place with fastest practice lap, but it was Gardner who took the lead initially. Muir got past, as did Hahne, while Roger Clark blotted his copybook with the 'supercharged' Alan Mann Escort by going off into the trees together wi...

Me and Holgate are at it again, I found out that him and John had got a little Suzuki jeep without saying anything to me, so I went and got one as well just to wind him up a bit! And the best bit is that his is a scrap heap and mine is quite good and there is a bet on for a lunch to see who can get theirs to drive first. I am so looking forward to a free meal. #suzuki #suzukicars #suzukisamurai...

Flying Cars

Flying cars have long been a symbol of the future, and while today they seem closer than ever, we've been imagining them for nearly a century. Here are three famous flying car projects from the past, each highlighting the persistent dream of personal air travel: 1. The Autogiro (1930s) Invented by Juan de la Cierva, the Autogiro was an early hybrid between a helicopter and a plane. It featured ...

My youngest son, the one that did not like working on cars, has got himself a car, and guess what, I now have 2 sons that like working on cars ! The Samurai 1.0 (SJ 410) manufactured by Suzuki comes with a 1000 cc engine that produces 45 HP. The top speed is not very fast and it takes a bloody long time to go from 0 to 100 km/h something which is not always possible. HOWEVER, get the thing off ...

I really enjoyed watching this
Great film thank you for sharing, both myself and a friend have seen our cars in you films. Its the first time I've ever seen film footage of my car, in one of your 1961 films.
I'm putting a history of Bill Shaw together as he drove my car, an AC. I have information from 1958 through to his involvement with TWR in 1978. If anyone has any information or photos they'd like to share please get in touch. Also if you knew Bill and could tell me about him, that would also be of interest.
superb footage, another brilliant Patrick Allen commentary
Love those Fell cons.
7 -litre Falcon vs 1.6 litre Escort, but it's still not a push-over! The days when you could go to your local dealer and buy a car that with a few mods would handle recognisably like the track cars, if not as quick (hardly an issue on the road).
It made great racing
Just as exciting today as it was then personally I prefer the BTCC to the Grand Prix
Me too
Went to Crystal Palace a few times for meetings as a kid.
Me too, when we went south to visit my Aunty Barbera, or was it the other way around?
I remember seeing Chris Summers at Snetterton when my mum and dad used to take me. His Lotus 24 Chevrolet was almost unbeatable on the old 2.71 mile circuit in Formula Libre races, indeed we saw him lap the entire field on one occasion, although in fairness most of the grid was made up of JRRDS pupils. Such a same he lost his life at the Norfolk venue.
Good memories
サルーンカーなのに1台ポルシェ😅😅😅
はい、あの昔のサルーンカーは本当に素晴らしかったです。
Thank you Murray Walker for all that you did for car racing and your true love motorcycle sport be it scrambling, road racing or track racing. You were an absolute gentleman -RIP. Thank you also to Gerry Marshall, my saloon car racing hero of yesteryear -RIP.
yes
I'm going to take a wild guess that the John Brundle from Kings Lynn who spun the Celica at the end was Martin Brundle's father? I know he owned a Toyota Dealership.
Correct
Marvellous Murray. I’m still confused about why a 5.7L V8 is allowed in the same race.
They were the rules back then
thank god we didnt have to own these cars in Australia in these days.
No, they were good
Gerry Marshall was an absolute monster. Loved him to death.
Realy good
I would love to hear the answer from my insurance if i would ask to take apart that days . I think I ask them about a lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife nowadays.
Try it and let us know
Proper motor sport.
Yes
Murray was great on rally x, especially at Lydden hill
Murry was great full stop
This ones a keeper chaps, pity its not petrol as the diesel is painfully slow. On the plus side the series 3 has a fully synchromesh gearbox which works well with a Fairey overdrive. If they have been standing the springs usually seize up giving a hard ride and the steering swivels will need new seals and oil/grease. Good luck!
Thanks, we hope to get back on it soon
Hi, looks like a civilian one to me too.
No roll cages. This video was suggested because I've been watching old clubmans motorcycle racing. H&S and insurance have killed off the amateur enthusiast
Glad you enjoyed it
Bloody fantastic. Great racing and the voice of the legendary Murray Walker. What more could one ask for! Many thanks for this one.
Glad you enjoyed it
Who watched the whole thing waiting for that Chev to be T boned.
It was close
I believe Muir's car was prepared by Bill Shaw Racing.
Correct
And they still play the same procession music today
Do they?
now now .... now now ..... euh ..... what car is that ...... that number 21 car....... that black and green car ...... the number 21 car . Ooh it's an Opel Ascona. That's what it is 🙂
The works escorts red & gold were Lotus twin cams I take it, but the other escorts in the lineup were they also twin cam?
The problem is that 'twin cam' often applies equally to the Lotus engine and the more potent Cosworth developed F2 FVA version. European rules did not allow the FVA, Britain did. Hubert Hahne drove an Escort FVA at the 1968 Nurburgring 500k as a prototype - this engine was never homologated for the Escort.
Red cars with the gold roofs are the Allan Mann Racing colours.
Yes, iconic colours
World's best motor racing format with World's Greatest motorsport commentator.
definately, nothing else like it
Not the (RAC) British Saloon Car Championship, but rather the BARC Special Saloon Car Championship. Also, it's Gerry Marshall, not Jerry.
Thanks
That was a hairy race with that Chev roadblock. Excellent entertainment.
Magic
Please keep posting!!!❤👍
will do
another great video with some nice Patrick Allen commentary, i notice Ken Costello was in the list of competitors, the same Ken Costello who put the original V8s in the MGB GTs? i'd imagine so
Not sure but it must have been
Now THAT is saloon car racing. SOOO much better than the modern rubbish, all cars looking the same, same power, just dead boring.
Dear old Murray, not a bloody clue what was happening, and obviously on a bonus for mentioning Gerry Marshall at every opportunity....🤣🤣
These vids are fantastic, Oulton is my local track today so its interesting to see the background changes as well as the racing. Subscribed.
Glad you like them!
Patrick Allen commentating
I was just 8 years young in 1968. What a mix of cars , American cars , British and one German Porsche.
Yes, fantastic
I'm a Belgian. And even I got excited watching this 'old' video. I entered end of the '80s; And even I miss this era of car racing.
WTF, en un Mustang descapotable sin casco ni jaula ni nada. Que tiempos mas locos jajajaj
and no seat belt
Man they flogging the snot out of those Ford Escorts. Those gentleman had some cajones!!!!
They certainly did
I got the train to Crystal Palace for the last meeting there. Fittingly, perhaps, the last ever race was won by a certain G Marshall Esq. driving a Lister Jaguar. It was the only time I ever made it to a meeting at the palace, though I used to go to Brands by getting the train to Swanley and the special bus service to the circuit. How the times have changed.....
Res sad really
It was the support race for the British F1 GP. F1 race won by Jo Siffert in a Rob Walker Lotus 49. In the days when an independent team could buy a F1 car.
Yes, those were good days!
Three of my loves in 1 place, racing, Crystal Palace and of course his Highness Murray Walker
Glad you liked it
Those were the days when motor racing was exciting and Murray Walker was commentating.
yes
Good old days when you could name every car on the track. Imagine trying that now.
Now they all look the same
How good is that. Wish stuff like this was still running.
Have been thinking the same
Went several times in my youth. Saw Graham Hill amongst others.
Yeah so did I
I’ve walked around what remains of the track, it should be opened up again,🇬🇧🇬🇧
I would have thought a motoring channel could at least have got Mr Marshall's name right.
Fabulous to hear the lare great Murry Walkers voice one the the all time best commentators of all time..
