Great point! The HDMI output for displaying album covers and info on a TV screen is indeed a fantastic feature of the Volumio system, and I can see why many would find it useful for enhancing their listening experience. I didn’t cover it in this video to keep the focus on sound quality and the hardware upgrades, but you’re absolutely right, it’s a feature worth showcasing. @@YuriBrus Yuri, the ToneWinner gear is made in China, they build some items for Emotiva, or used to. The two ToneWinner pieces I own, my good friend bought the same two pieces, are more or less Mark Levinson clones. My good friend has played with the Levinson gear over the years, the gear has the look, and swears it has the sound. I am surprised more folks do not know about them. The AD-1PRE+ and the AD-2PRO+. The DAC in these units is outstanding, and I am not an ESS DAC fan by any stretch. They really nailed it with the overall sound quality. Would love to see a review, as there are few out here. The reviews that are out here are all extremely positive.

Good, I have the Rivo Black with the Farad Super3 LPS, I also have a capacitor bank in-between the Farad and the Rivo, which did make a noticeable sound quality improvement. I use USB, with a split data/power USB cable. Then galvanic isolation with the cable, more sound improvement. I use a ToneWinner AD-1PRE+ DAC/Preamp with the ToneWinner AD-2PRO+ amplifier. Then the icing on the cake which took the Rivo several more levels higher, the Roon Nucleus One. Audio Nirvana. ;-)

@@michaelwright1602How is your Rivo working for you, do you use Wi-Fi ? I can only use Wi-Fi at the moment and have had so many drop outs with Rivo, even sometimes Roon sees Rivo but the Volumio app does not, but in the same room 4K videos work fine on same Wi-Fi, also the Volumio app says I have 800+mb connection, turning off Rivo makes it work for a while, then it drops out again, very frustrating.

I2S Output with a PS Audio Directstream DAC should be a Great Match 🥳

@GadZookz Because a dac and amp only work with wired headphones... If you connected your Phone to the BTR17, then to your Bluetooth headphones all you're doing is bouncing the signal around, you won't get a better or louder sound, you'll increase latency and probably reduce sound quality...

@ actually my iPhone uses the AAC codec. If the DAC/amp transmits with a higher BT ode. Like LDAC, the hi-Res wired connection could be sent to my LDAC supported headphones but only if the device supports BT TX like a number of larger devices

@GadZookz The base signal is still limited to AAC, even if the btr17 converts it, you won't gain data. It's like converting a jpeg to a raw format, all the metadata that it would have if in the original format is compressed and lost, turning it back into a raw file doesn't uncompress the data or in this case signal

No. Only reason I got the BTR17 is the aptX lossless support. My phone is one of the few that support it and the creative bt-w6 transmitter works great with it to add lossless support to other devices.

Yes. Unless you have low tier iems, the btr17 is an absolute upgrade. If you have KZ and Moondrops don't bother.

Hi there! I haven’t done an in-depth comparison between the two yet, but my initial impression is that the BTR17 leans less warm while maintaining a smooth sound, it’s not sharper, but rather more neutral overall.

Have the Q5k, BTR7 and BTR17. Iems are MEST mk2, Radon 6, Evo. The BTR17 is better than both.

​@@Maver1ck911 Yep I've got the Q5k and the BTR7 and the BTR17 and I think the 17 sounds leaps and bounds better than the Q5k and even better than the BTR7. The Q5k has a nice EQ but it just is average when compared to the fiios, more power means more headroom and they both have more detail and texture, dynamics etc. I even prefer many dongles over Q5k. But it's small and wireless and inexpensive, and has good connectivity. Also do like the latest PEQ from fiio.

@Maver1ck911 Fast linear, that's usually what I use. I'm limited in iem selection because of fit problems. My ears are super sensitive so only the smallest and lightest don't bother me. They didn't used to be but I think from all the years of wearing iems it messed them up. Sucks because I will try something new that I like but won't be able to use them. 😕 So eq is pretty helpful for me, plus I'm older and usually boost the high bands a couple decibels.

@@lobbyrobby Nice, I went with the QN85C last year. I really like it though it’s not perfect, and at times wonder if I should have gone with the S90C, but I don’t want to have to worry about burn in. Either way enjoy man. I don’t know what you’re upgrading from but I’m sure there picture quality will blow you away!

@ugoewulonu4936 a Samsung un65 something sometime. It's about 6 years old. I'm happy with it and I don't really need to upgrade but if the price is right I just as well.

If it were me, I’d go with the 42”. I currently have a 32” and have been thinking about upgrading, so the extra screen real estate would make a big difference, especially for multitasking or creative work!
