HI THERE ANOTHER REAL NICE ENGINE JOHN
VERY NICE , THANKS FOR SHOWING IT JOHN
Nice to meet you ❤❤❤have a great day ❤❤
Artist. Pure and simple.
Sir, your build quality is on par with Bill Huxhold and John Mcdivitt. If you ever decide to part with it, please contact me.
Dang!
Unbelievable precision & beauty ….truly AMAZING!
Thank you for helping my husband Jeff Yenger with an identical engine. He enjoyed your conversation.
예술이네유. 진짜이쁘시게도 만들었다
Beautiful. I might be crazy but am interested in building a model steam engine. I have looked at many but I like this one the best. Are castings and plans available? Please advise. Thanks, Marvin Cler
Good evening, my name is jonatan abratte. I am a teacher in a technical school in Argentina. I have a Fairbanks Morse Model Z engine that is sitting dead. Searching for information on the engine on the internet on how to start it, photos and videos of his of these engines appeared. Do you know anything about the mechanics of these engines? I would like to be able to start up the one that my institution has, if you want I can send you photos. Sorry for the inconvenience. Kind regards.
I think you're engine is a 1916 You did a great job on it and it runs perfect 👌 😇🙏🎣
i would never tire of just watching this beautiful engine working.
Very impressive craftsmanship demonstrated by you!
By profession, I am a journeyman manual machinist. I've only ever dreamed of making a model like this I am doing restoration work on an 1895 Buffalo Pitts steam traction engine though.
Běží to také na páru? Moc pěkná práce…
Only know pops up 2022 and ive watched many small engines videos . this is a labour of .
Congratulations, a beautiful piece of work, can you get the drawings somewhere
Excellent work as usual!
"I look at this thing and I think god did I really do that" --- yes, I've had the same thought looking back at things I did years ago !!!
way to bring that engine back!
Beautiful work! Do you know where I can purchase the plans for the Corliss myself?
Hi have a set of plans that I can have duplicated if you are interested. I also think that my friend Jeff Lehn has a complete set of castings for the project. I can contact Jeff and see what he wants for the castings.
@@craigstevens9278 Hello! I'm very interested in the plans but I usually do castings myself. Do you have a mail adress I can reach you at?
@@kristerolsson3813 please call me 818-808-3956 easier to discuss.
@@craigstevens9278 Hi! Since I'm from Sweden calling will get a bit expensive so I would prefer mail if possible.
cstevens9@socal.rr. com
..Do you know what I find amazing? There are actually 3 people that gave you a thumbs down on this engine. I just don't get it.. I think you did a great job.
Been there ,seen that , and it was awesome 👍 !
Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did. In October we had planned a trip to go up to see the Sturgis steam powered sawmill. Bad news is they canceled it for this year. We don’t know why maybe Covid may be financing. We originally saw the video on Huell Housers California Gold and really wanted to see it in person.
Did you clearcoat this paint?
No I did not clearcoat it the paint is from rust oleum oil base hunter green I sprayed two coats that seems sufficient Craig
Excellent work
Very interesting and nicely done !
I realize it is many years later since this video was made but can't say enough good about Hit and Miss Enterprises and Mark's magneto was helpful rebuilding a couple of Briggs magnetos for me. Thanks for uploading.
Now it needs to run in steam ;) Would love to see it!
I would be perfectly willing to run it on steam providing you are willing to come here and clean and detail it afterwards Craig
@@craigstevens9278 I live in Holland, and i dont have a boiler to run it off sadly.
Excellent work
Amazing work!
now I know why Corliss engines are so hard to find haha. so involved to build there can't be that many out there. wonderful job!
Central Machinery panel, that's Harbor Freight, but it's actually a Grizzly lathe?
You are correct it is a harbor freight lathe However it is identical to the grizzly and was $700 cheaper. I have had it for 15 years and I am totally satisfied with it. Craig
That is glorious! Wow! Congratulations on a great job done.
Thank you
I wish I could hang out with these two gentleman and learn all of their knowledge. It is so enjoyable and fascinating to be able to spend time and learn from someone who is a master in their field. Thank you for the great videos
Kevin unfortunately you can only hang out with one of us now because Jen Allen passed away three years ago. I’m still really pissed off at him for dying. Are you a model maker?. Please review my other videos they are also most interesting. If you would like to call me and chat you can call me at 818-340-7959 California time. I am always interested in speaking with people who are interested in steam. Craig Stevens
Being crazy sure is fun when it works out
What a beautiful engine!!!! Who made the castings?
I purchased my castings from Kohl’s power models approximately 15 years ago. They are no longer in business. However a steam buddy of mine named Jeff Lehn has a set of castings his phone number is 724-931-0580 Jeff is a very nice person and very honorable contact him and if you have any further questions about the project you can call me directly on my wife’s iPhone. The project is not for the uninitiated. You will need a good lathe and milling machine. If you need to contact me please call me back at 818-808-3956 good luck Pete
how can anyone not like that?
One of these things with a 16 ft flywheel is pretty amazing. Watching a model like yours is astonishing.
You Sir are a master. Your work reminds me of John McDivitt’s craftsmanship.
I never met John McDevitt however I shared many wonderful phone calls until his passing.
John’s work was an inspiration to me and now that I am 75 years old I have posted my work hoping that it will inspire other people to produce high-quality museum pieces. Thank you for your comments.
Craig Stevens ....you’re very welcome. May I ask you where you got the base faux bricks for the beam engine you built? I am restoring my Reeves ME beam and need to redo the base as well and I very much like the “slate” type bricks you used. Did you make them or purchase them ready made? Thanks for your response.
Hasty One The tiles came from a local tile store in the Los Angeles They came as a sheet glued to nylon netting and had 1/8 inch spacing between each tile i painstakingly prayed all of them off scraped the glue off the back and then used thin set to glue them to the wood base that I fabricated the base was quite easy because I am a professional cabinet maker which is my sole income. If you would like a sample of this type of stone I would be more than willing to send you a piece.
Craig Stevens ....Thank you Craig. That is quite ingenious. I suppose I can go to my local Home Depot (I live in NY) and perhaps pick a similar type tile. I guess I would have to calculate how much I would need with measurements of the base and sides. I’m not sure if they will sell it to me in individual sheets but it’s worth a shot. Also, I I’ll have to figure out how to cut some pieces as I’m sure some will not line up exactly as pre fabricated. I’ve never done a custom base so it will be trial and error. Thanks for the idea and offer of the sample piece. I will be watching out for your videos in the future. Hope you have something else spectacular in the works. My name is Steve by the way.
Astonishing!
Incredible piece of engineering. I would remove the pin striping though.
stunning work. me trying to hack together a small steamer and finding out how much work it is.
As always Craig - extremely nice.
Very nice work! The painting of the pagoda lights to match the color scheme of the pagoda is an especially nice touch. - God is in the details...
very nice
Nice!
Very neat!
BEAUTIFUL WORK 👍👍👍
