any time i have purchased anything that requires a subscription that "yous can't get our of" . I use Paypal where i and go remove automatic payments. I just checked that amazon does not offer it

BUYER BEWARE - GREASY ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION - AUTO RENEWAL - NO NOTIFICATION I feel sad that I've had to write a negative review, but this company truly deserves it. I purchased a scanner and associated software app 1-year ago. The scanner was OK, I had a minor fault that I needed to diagnose, which it did. I cancelled the subscription on my phone app, but it turned out I also had concurrent subscription for another/parallel Carly App (THIS WAS NOT CLEAR), one direct to PayPal, the other through Google Play. The company asks to be informed 30-days before your renewal date to accept a cancellation. THEY DO NOT SEND A RENEWAL NOTIFICATION. I did cancel the contract (4-months before renewal, but it turns out this was for only one of the contracts). Then, I receive a notification that they've taken £60 for another years subs. I thought this would be simple to clear up, but their customer services team were less than helpful. They kept referring me to the T&Cs that I signed up to, and not acknowledging the fact that I (assumed) that I had cancelled the subscription (when someone tells you they're sorry to see you go, you kind of feel they did get the message). Anyway, they have told me I'm the one in the wrong, and it's tough luck (in so many words). This company is more than willing to damage it's reputation by treating existing customers unfairly. I am expecting to see a reply stating something along the lines of (our T&Cs were very clear at the time of signing up and are available on our website). Well, looking at the many complaints online, I think you may need to refine your messaging, because it isn't getting through to your most important asset, your customers.

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve heard. Congrats on the patent, try doing anything against it if a big Corp copy’s you. Your patent is only worth as much as your wallet is big to defend it in court.

One word: Bimmercode Carly sucks, they don't tell you until you commit to an order that it is a yearly subscription, shady business practice. I hate this business model.

Hi, Same issue for me. It's bricked. Carly didn' make clear it was a yearly subscription (and I took specific care back when purchasing to look for if that was a limited in time, did not find anything like that). I was surprised a while after, to receive e-mails apparently from Carly and claiming that they did not receive my payment for license renewal. I honestly thought it was some kind of phishing and ignored it. Later I figured out that I did not have access to the features I paid for on the app ... And "of course", the Carly scanner is locked to be usable only with the Carly app ... I feel those practices being dishonest. I also agree on your comments about Influencers promoting this. Carly is to me real disapointment and leaves the feeling of having been fooled.

I worked as a USPTO Patent Examiner for 4 years. For the past 20 years I have been working with Patent Law Firms drafting the Patent applications for the clients. I would agree that one can draft and file a Provisional Patent application to mainly reserve the filing date. However, as it comes to the Utility Non-Provisional Patent application, an experienced Patent practitioner is needed 100%. The Utility Non-Provisional Patent application requires claims that determine the scope or the coverage (i.e., protection) of the future Patent. Drafting claims takes years to master. Claims need to adhere to the Patent laws and be adequately supported by the specification and the diagrams. All of the claim drafts produced by less experienced attorneys are reviewed by senior attorneys and partners and a lot of corrections are often made. In over 20 years, I have not seen a good set of claims written by an inventor. Now some are trying to use AI for their claims - still does not work at all. If it were so easy, thousands of Patent law firms would not exist. Keep in mind that the author of the video had a very simple basic invention.

I wish this was a problem with just Carly but unfortunatly it isn't. So many companies are now forcing people to pay subscription fees to access services on products they already paid for. Even some car manufacturers are trying that sh*t! We are now well into the era of "every product is a service" and "you will own nothing and be happy". Massive consumer pushback is the only way these greedy companies will learn. Thanks for spreading the word and saving people from getting ripped off.

Since the days of the "Check Engine" light or projected "Service" dates in owner accessible settings I have been skeptical of all new cars. After the last Warranty Service on my 2008 BMW I stopped going to the dealership and have been doing the maintenance myself. The annoying "time for service reminders" can be reset by me. I do have a DTC warning and stopped driving it for a while. Thanks to a RUclips video, a temporary fix and repair was explained. I think I'll buy Lottery tickets instead. 😎

Just bought this rubbish. Bloody annoyed with myself. Couple of things. Make sure that you block your payment system to not allow automatic payments to this supplier when renewal comes around. They sure as hell wont tell you that they are about to rob you. A number of comments have been made regarding (very) slow delivery. I experienced the same treatment. Could this delay mean that your bank cannot chase a refund because of some time limit?

Is their a non subscription equivalent on the market?

I even payed for the subscription, and suddenly they discontinued my car without even asking. Suddenly useless. I even had a all car subscription. No refund, be warned. I will never ever use this app again…

Was it worth it?

I almost went for this only a few things stopped me; - I'm here in Europe. If you mail details of your application less any legal cover, anyone can copy you, including the recipient of your mail - if you mail your idea it will be null and void as patent and provisional applications must be sent via special encrypted e-mail otherwise it is considered in the public domain the moment you hit the send button as the internet is not safe. It looks like you submit your stuff via patent wizard by regular e-mail in the US. As said, that way it is considered as having hit the public domain and can no longer be patented.

I have Read that Mercedes are doing the Self Same Thing Now. When you buy a New Mercedes the Cars Software is Free for the First FIVE YEARS, this is Written into your Purchase Contract. After Five Years you have to have a Subscription to retain many of the Vehicles Features, otherwise they will be simply switched off by Automatic Updates to the Cars ECU?

Sadly BMW have started chargiog for some functions- e.g. heated seats - monthly subscription
