Jesus came not to be served but to serve; so to follow his example, that means we can’t be worrying about whether we’re first in line. One of the costs of discipleship is putting aside our concern that everyone else knows how important we are.
In a world that constantly seeks power, Jesus calls us only to find ways to serve. Jesus calls us to see each person not as a bar to compare ourselves with, but through God’s eyes, as a beloved child of God.
