Remote Camping & Scenic Road Trip: Exploring Canada’s Hidden Gems
Back in August, my girlfriend Paitra and I set out on a road trip from Toronto to Minnesota for her cousin’s wedding. Rather than doing the drive in one shot we decided to take as much time as possible to camp and explore every beautiful stop along the way. Rarely did we pass up a scenic lookout, waterfall, gift shop or small town diner. We even met and made a few friends along the way.
After the wedding we parted ways and I headed north back into Ontario up to the town of Red Lake where I met with Albert from Goldseeker’s Canoe Outfitting & Wilderness Expeditions. I had a pleasure chatting with him for an afternoon planning what ended up being by far my most epic adventure to date: 12 da...

8 Day / 200KM Solo Camping Journey: Completely Alone on Remote Wilderness River
Просмотров 14 тыс.Месяц назад
Back in May, 2024 I ventured off on an 8 day solo canoe trip covering 200km of the beautiful Pic River. I started up near the town of Longlac, Ontario near highway 11 and ended 8 days later at highway 17 near the shores of Lake Superior and the town of Marathon. This trip easily became one of my favourite adventures to date, the scenery was jaw-dropping and the wildlife was more abundant than I...
5 Days Solo Camping & Fishing in Canadian Wilderness

After an epic failure on a solo camping brook trout fishing mission into an unknown canoe route, I had to come up with a plan B. After some quick thinking I realized I was only a couple hours away from a piece of paradise that I hold near and dear to my heart: Diablo Lake. I revisited the first part of the Steel River canoe route and once again had to conquer the notorious Diablo’s Portage. But...
7-Day Wilderness Camping Adventure: Untamed River to Rugged Coast of Lake Superior

Back in early May, I set out on my most challenging and most rewarding wilderness canoe trip to date. @toshselfpropelled and I took on the lesser-known Jimmy Kash River which flows into The Dog River just above the famous Denison Falls eventually dumping out into Lake Superior. We camped our way through the woods facing anything and everything that old Jimmy Kash threw at us. Tosh’s video: ru...

The Jimmy Kash River is a seldom explored river with very little documentation. @toshselfpropelled and I were enticed by the potential of untouched beauty in this remote area and had to see it for ourselves. We faced incredible challenges and seemingly endless obstructions in the river including half a dozen waterfalls but we agreed it was well worth it. I continue to be amazed at just how far ...

    You didn’t have to kill the beetle, you could have relocated. Chippewa Falls would have been a nice place to start anew. Defiantly not a vegan mindset, a plant based murderer. Just sad… You love nature right? However don’t give a shit about the smallest creatures that exist in nature. Total nonsensical disconnect.

    • @benbeauchamp16
      @benbeauchamp16 7 дней назад

      Going through a guiding service would be the easiest, they provide all the gear, food, knowledge and guidance of course but it all comes with a cost. You can certainly do it on your own and start small, cover the basics, sleeping bag, tent, pack, cooking supplies, a saw for gathering firewood, a lighter, first aid kit and rain gear are some staples for being safe and comfortable in the wilderness. If you’ve never camping before I’d recommend “front country” camping at a local park where you aren’t in a remote area and you still have access to park facilities such as a washroom and a service desk. Then as you gain more experience you can push the boundaries a bit further into backcountry camping. Do your research and see what you’d be most comfortable with. Any time you go out into the wilderness make sure at least 1 person knows where you’re going and when you’ll be back. Safety first! Hope this helps
