I remember this as a 12 yo kid (which wasn't a long time ago) I never dared to go inside that arena after the first encounter, in my first fight with Melchiah I didnt know what to do with him I remember hitting him with my claws and he laughed in my face bite a chunk of raziel got killed and I went to the spirit realm I paused the game, my heart was racing I was trying to figure out how to beat him, I gathered my self my hands were trembling trying to keep the controller in place I unpaused the game I had a *plan* but first I need to go back to the material realm which wasn't much of a concern ... yet! the portal was right at the gate, I pressed circle to feed, but then that THING came out of nowhere he faced through the cage I was confused at this point I didnt have time to react, all I remember is Melchiah slamming me with his giant limbs and I died and got teleported to the lake of the dead. After that I never dared to go to that place ever again till I got a bit older lmao I was just playing the beginning levels from the starting point to the end of raziel clan

I have to say I was disappointed in the ps5 intro when I saw it. Increasing the frame rate to today's levels makes the motion looking unnatural and like they're moving too fast. For example, Raziel's steps looked like they had weight to them in the ps1 intro, but it looks like he's walking on air here. The redesign for 4k also took weird turns as they made his brethren look like they have bug eyes. The actual gameplay graphics are outstanding, though

This was very helpful for my stupid brain to figure out what to do in Melchiah's boss fight. I only saw the rotating switch, tried using this while he was in the round cage and was wondering why nothing was happening. Apparently my memory from back then is as reliable as an apple. Rotten away after so much time and (atleast in case of the apple) not very edible. To my defence i can say, that i was a wee dumb child and only watched my older brother play this game and i know for a fact, that i never saw him fight Melchiah, otherwise i would have laughed my ass off back then about the pixelated mess that he was fighting. I really love what they did to the Remaster, actually gave Melchiah some much needed texture upgrade. Now he still looks like a mess, but atleast a believable and actually horrifying mess and not pixel potato with a mouth from New York to Paris, lol EDIT: Thanks to the Remaster i also found out, that i need a new controller. Still using an Xbox 360 one and this god damn old bucket has Joycon drift on the right stick and since you can control the camera in Soul Reaver Remaster with the right stick, camera always drifts off like hell. Time for a new controller, since this game is supposed to be played with controller and i will have it no other way. ...I wonder when they get the idea to make a Defiance Remaster.

Everything about this game is a masterpiece to me, especially the pixel-art and the colors used. Trying to beat this game would be very hard without youtube back in the day.
