If you got the cane from our headmaster he used to get you to bend over with your head under his door handle ...yep you guessed it, so you cracked your skull on his door handle when he caned your ass

hah, I was already getting the shit kicked out of me at home from 4years old, by the time I went to primary, this type of punishment was largely gone, only once I went to the headmasters for a belt across the hands, and I laughed as he did it, giving him tips on how to strike harder, to put his back into it.... that statement from me, unleashed satan himself, where I took an almighty whack to the hands, and I still laughed it off with a... is that it? the pure fury and redness to this teachers face, made me feel awesome, that I never felt it, until I got home and got about 50 more on the hands and the skin was getting knackered then. next day im being asked whats going on, by my own teacher, and I told her as kind as she was, to just leave me alone.

The little kid (the one bringing the message) wasn't told he was gonna get caned hence the real reaction. This is testament to the directing skills of Ken Loach. The speech Mr Gryce gave is still as relevant today. Unfortunately we have to pander to the snowflakes and suchlike so corporal punishment is no longer an option.
