Spiritual Direction Colorado (SDCO) is a committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado and is an ecumenical group of spiritual directors. Our mission statement is: “To promote spiritual direction and support spiritual directors in Colorado.” We do this by being practicing spiritual directors; connecting people who are seeking spiritual directors; being active in the faith communities we attend; offering continuing education programs six times a year and hosting a weekend fall spiritual retreat. Our events are open to anyone and we invite you to become a part of our community by participating in any or all of our events. Our community encourages greater awareness of spirituality throughout Colorado. We envision a Colorado where spiritual guidance permeates peoples’ lives, faith communities and human organizations, transforming life for all, especially the most vulnerable. Where does Jesus say we need to eliminate ego to find truth?
@@normanchu2482 Even he doesn't say explicitely 'eliminate your ego' - his life and teaching and his suffering and death too!!! lead us to that state, if we earnestly want to follow - as he asks each of us also today. Without putting down our ego, stepping behind our pride self, surrendering completely to the Father's will, we cannot follow him. But this is a process step by step and the Holy Spirit will lead us as Jesus promised. It is a transformation from our old fleshly nature towards a new born creation! Read the gospels carefully - for example the 'Sermon on the Mount' in Matthew 5 and all the explanations in the letters - in order to understand from your heart. Ask yourself very honestly, what is the hindrance for you to do exactly as Jesus told .... and you will come to know that's your ego that stands in the way .....

I shuddered to hear you say that the 'metaphors' of the Christian Church that no longer fit include the Cross and the Crucified Saviour? These facts are what our faith is all about and without the Cross or the Crucified Saviour, we have NOTHING.
