My 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ Upgrades
you okay? its been a year since an upload
Also out here in Arizona (Desert Hills) and have the same vehicle but with the 4.0 and same thing out in the trails when going very slow gets too darn near 215 for me and everything is up to specs under the hood...... all other times everything is fine as it's bone stock I'm impressed how you did the push fan up front..... may have to copy it 🙂👍
Do you have the video on that bed that’s an awsome idea
Very cool... nice rig !
What’s the size of the fan and we’re did you get it
Awesome
Say Sasquatch switch five times fast! 😂
I live in Arizona as well and I’m having similar problems with my ZJ. Do you use a stock replacement clutch for the fan or is it upgraded to a heavy duty or severe duty clutch?
In my auto college I attended in 2011, My teacher that was a Porsche tech for 37 years from Germany that did air box locations temp readings recordings for Porsche claimed Snorkels increase fuel economy, gains was only 1.5% during the testing but does help! Grabbing Air from outside of the vehicle actually increases MPG
What coolant do you put in it? I have a 98 with a 5.2 and it overheats just driving up a mountain on a highway with AC on. Did a block leak check and didn't detect anything. Prior owner had the orange coolant in it, it should be the green stuff, right?
Nice rig! Ur gona love swapping to a 231, it's so much nicer on road and off road. Good luck with the build
Very cool and practical ,have fun
Where in Arizona are you? I am in Tucson and I have some cooling issues. The guy before who owned it before me put an electric fan on the engine side.
Hi. Thanks for the video planning on doing something similar. One question what did you do with the bracing that went up and down like a W in front of the radiator? Thanks.
Could you possibly leave the link to the parts
Sick af
why is the snorkel on backwards?
When following down a dusty trail you dont suck in all the dust and you can install a pre filter on snorkel.
Simple and cozy. Very nicely done.
Looks good. Stay safe.
Nice setup
Nice ride! I have a 96 ZJ Laredo that I'm getting ready to overland, will be doing the same upgrades to mine. Hope to see you on the road... come up to Oregon and we'll wheel in the mtns.
Love the setup Ray!
Thanks for the vid bro
Really nice brother
awesome video , first time i ever heard someone say " if its not working i turn it back to factory, if it worked for them it will work for me" best advice for new ZJ owners or anyone really. thank you.
where can i find the tire mount for the hitch?
Bought it on offer up used, but found this sticker on it. Tote-um systems inc. Camarillo ca.
Like how the bed slides out great idea!
Stealing the awning idea for sure
smart work. thanks.
Cool man! I’m digging it. Nice job 👊🏻
I'm wondering I'm 5'11, and regular truck bed should be 5'5, how to make the length good for foot room? Thank you.
My bed is 6.5 ft , I think most are 6.0 for short bed.
Looks like the view from Scottsdale!
I like it!
hello, do you have the diagram for the rear bumper, and front, thank you stephane from the south west of france
Great insights. I have the same Jeep and have struggled with overheating. I like your insight on the thermostat issue. I've been so frustrated with mine and all the mods I've done to alleviate the issue, that I finally installed a 160 degree thermostat. Maybe now I should go back to the 195 factory spec. Also liked the pusher fan AND the mechanical fan concept. Might have to try that as well.
People lack the skill of fabbing-You did an awesome job. Practical and simple. Thanks!
Excellent content, have a 96 ZJ laredo, and you hit one point i was curious about.....changing the transfer case to have 2 wheel drive capability , please make a video on that for reference purposes.......thanks
Freakin awesome man, thank you for the upload, RUclips doesn't have enough ZJ videos.
I like the bed design , but ,,,, you don't seem to have access to anything under the bed once it's extended ? I think a slide out on the end would do the trick , and wouldn't be too hard to incorporate. Kept simple. The other side storage , while functional (I get it ) just appears unfinished with the end open . My OCD would be off the charts with that , lol .... Needs a curtain to cover it at least .....: ) Otherwise , simple and well done 👏 Cool ....
Didn't want to buy sliders for pull out. Good idea on curtain for end of storage. It was incomplete, but now I will add curtain. Thanks
looks like ur out in new river area?
Yes new river black canyon
The sliding bed is so awesome!
Thats how its done. Congrats;)
I like it! It looks like a fairly simple and straightforward build.
love the trunk set up. that's so creative!
I have to agree bed design is fantastic, thanks for sharing
Looks good to me. I just bought a 2021 ram 1500. Put a leer 180 on there. A nice bed rug. Can’t wait to start enjoying it.
Nice work! Thank you for taking the time to share your work.
Paint the top of the shell bright white. It will drop the temps dramatically.
Very nice job!! The slide bed is awesome.
Nice build, I'm planning on doing a simular designed build in the 8ft bed of my dually, I've been getting idea's from everybody's builds, they seem to be pretty much the same basic designs, with or without slide out draws under the bed, I think if I build mine with the bed opened and storage under with two pull out draws and long 8ft storage on the side for fishing rods or sunbrellas or a canopy for shade outside on clear days, that'll give Me separate cooking and sleeping storage under the bed, plus I could have additional storage up front under a headboard type area if needed for whatever, I'm just in the planning stages right now and having over 30 years in building custom van/trucks for a living and 40+ years in upholstry I can't wait to get started on it, A little about the truck, It's a 91 F350 4dr dually with a 8ft bed, it has a 7.3 idi diesel with a 5 speed that I'm swapping to a Auto Trans, I'm lowering it 3in in front 4in in back and of course it needs paint and minor body work, (either deep hi gloss jet black or a wrought iron flat black with ghost flames, haven't decided yet), the cab interior and bed interior will be all custom blended to match done by me in bright red with either accent of oak or black trim or maybe a little of both, I'm gathering parts now and I'm going to start a RUclips Channel to post videos of the build along the way,
