Bit of a lark, fishing for a few hours on the Jubilee River.
Pole Fishing The Jubilee River for Roach. Plenty caught, with some interesting underwater footage.

Funny day's fishing, where nothing seemed quite right, hence the chopping and changing. Managed to hook and lose 3 pike on the pole, and also capture some underwater footage of fish feeding on groundbait, right in front of the Camera. Had better days, but I salvaged it from the cutting room floor, as I'm sure some of you will enjoy watching....

Underwater Footage of Roach, Skimmers, Dace, Perch and Gudgeon, in River Thames

Underwater footage in a Hemp swim on the Thames. It's an interesting watch, and I've added a bit of commentary too. Definitely will do some more of these, but get the camera closer to the kill-zone next time (it was about 50cm too short to be a truly useful video).

A little update for you, to keep you in the know. Very busy and not catching much, so I sneakily filmed an update whilst fishing my syndicate lake. Didn't catch there, but it felt close and I garnered a nice bit of info about the fish habits in the part of the lake I'm most drawn to...

Had a great Crucian session at Bury Hills (Dorking) on Tuesday. Float fishing, great fun. Lovely fish.
Been a while Tom.. these are videos are great and they still pop up every once in a while. Hope alls good!
You absolutely cannot beat homemade, high quality, not for profit make them at home, source your own ingredients, additives, enzymes, attractors, feed inducers, stimulators etc etc yourself. Of course it isn't convenient or for everyone but, the rewards are incomparable to shop bought boilies. Not that they are not good baits that catch fish, i prefer the process of making my own then watching the results unfold.. Discovering yourself how you can produce at home an outstanding bait that will hold its own and often outfish other baits is where all the hard work is rewarded. It is hard graft and not convenient for the majority of anglers whose time is limited, due to work and family life commitments, if you can make even your own hook baits you will get such a high from the capture it doesn't compare to taking one out the tub or outof a bag. Each to their own... Great video fella. Bait making science is fascinating and rewarding.
Hi Tom love to see you vlog again some tench fishing please

Hi Tom. I`m on my second 25kg sack of Tropamino from BAF and I asked them to include the recipe with my last order, but they told me to go on Facebook, which I don`t do. I`ve read several differing recipes, some say Brocacel is included ? Any ideas what the BAF recipe is ?
Can you name specific what from versele larga, i got that in my country but i don't know what to pick up. thank you
No keepers?
A big hello from the somersham crew!
When are we getting some new videos Tom! Us somersham boys are waiting!
Simple put it into a good thermos flask boiling water and in the morning its cooked
using this recipe, and adding flavours/colours how many eggs would you use ? 5/6 ?
40% CLO wonder why AA states up to 20% 🤔
A lot of big companies make a mix up which is best for there machines to roll and not split. So they can keep production high. AA baits supply large bait firms and I’m guessing it’s a recipe from one of them.
Have you given up man?
Why can't you use 30% pdfm instead of the FM?
Hi very interesting. Do you still use this same recipe?
what size nozzle do i need to roll 20mm boilies
Hi tom i am from holland the sensattract is not available can i let it out?
Great catch Tom … and good video …I had a few quality roach from the Farnham Angling Stretch of the Thames last week but catching on corn or Tares over hemp … and on the stick float rather than pole … really enjoyable session
Where on the drain is this in Ramsey?
It always amuses me how us anglers mix and match measurements, "It's 5-6 foot deep, at 9 metres" :) :)
I like the idea of the deep fat fryer.
I'm a member there, not checked out that lake yet so this will an interesting watch. ✌️
You're either a freak or a genius when it comes to Boilie. I will follow you. You're either going to steal my time or by watching you I'll unravel the secret of keeping monster carp.
Is busbridge a day ticket.
Amazing net
Just seen this video now in 2023 I'm a paranormal researcher investigator and carp /all rounder angler I've seen some weird paranormal stuff while fishing and it would have freaked anyone out .I love hearing stories of anglers paranormal experience's on haunted lakes.
I do a pretty good job of freaking myself out whilst fishing (you should see my reading/podcast list: it’s all esoterica or paranormal stuff) Never really seen anything, but a few places have ‘atmosphere’, especially the first time or 2 you fish them. We’ve got one pond where a guy heard children playing, but nobody was there. There’s another pond nearby that’s got a spooky feel to it. You can’t night fish it, and I wouldn’t even if you could!😂
@@tomwinterfishing9065 I would set some gear up thermal imaging cameras night vision etc I've done about 635 investigations now and been an angler since 1977 and over the years have seen a glowing mist form coming out the trees my nephew and dog saw it first that was class.Ive heard voices seen shadows heard footsteps at my old carp lake I used to fish and one of the best was in 2018 I heard what I thought was workmen then a pony or horse galloping with rustling from the other end of the lake there's no cobblestone streets around it's all grass paths trees and the 3 lakes I was down for 10 days testing baits the sound got closer then this black cloud came shooting past my bivvy with rustling galloping sound I turned it moved about 40 feet around the corner that fast no animal can do that my 2 jack Russells never saw it or heard it I could hear the galloping the otter fence and gate was 60ft away it went through that and carried on . Amazing to see as I've seen loads over the years investigating unfortunately I never got it on camera.
@@paulAnthony7236 I’m very interested in it all on an intellectual level, but wary of engaging with anything, or even looking to do so, if you know what I mean? Do you post anything on YT or anything? I’d be fascinated to watch.
@@tomwinterfishing9065 I've loads to put up on RUclips m8 just with moving ill health etc I've not had the chance .Other groups I co founded will have footage probably on but not sure and not sure if they are even going m8.
@@tomwinterfishing9065 Once I'm sorted I dare say I can let you know.Theres some great footage.
Sorry for the probably silly question but in your ingredients list for the base mix, you have 150 squid then 50 squid powder. What is the 150 squid please? Thanks for a great educational video.
Cheers mate. 150g squid meal. 50 squid extract powder.
Wonderful, thank you for replying so quickly and for your help.
@@Stuee6899 no worries. Happy to help
Hi. are you still using this base mix?
No, this was pretty much a one off, for the purposes of the video. I tend to develop a new recipe or variant of a recipe every year, depending on where I’m fishing, and if there’re any new ingredients available that I like the look of.
Bonsoir sur cette recette la vois avez pas de base mix
Nice one, the home rollers setup ha ha will be back on it for this year soon!
Me too, soon as I fix the roof😖😂
@@tomwinterfishing9065 Looks like WEP may be on the cards this year for me regarding the egg situation. Not used it before, i was thinking in theory you can add more food liquids into the mix and less water or does it not work like that?
Wheres my favourite vlogger gone
Hello mate. Been out getting myself a job. Start Monday.
I love fishing for Roach.on Theams grate video Tom.winter
Fascinating stuff and an awesome catch. I have always regarded tench as the most difficult species in British waters in winter. A lot of ponds and canals can appear so dead in the winter months and that doesn't inspire confidence of having tench feeding. I don't count commercial waters as they are just so artificial and hold no appeal whatsoever for me. I watched this video a couple of years ago and decided to revisit it after catching a 4lb tench on the last day of the year! My first winter tench after nearly 50 years of fishing! I was fishing for carp on a relatively difficult water, but I was there on the previous day and another angler told me that he had taken a few tench (and a carp) in the last couple of days. Admittedly the weather was mild, but I had walked round the lake on the Winter Solstice just 10 days earlier to find that two thirds of it were still frozen after a 10 day cold snap. It was seriously cold in North Yorkshire, but we avoided the snow. I set off early on the last day of the year, as I had to pack up at 11am. I started fishing at first light and I saw bubbles and tench rolling at about 9am, but it wasn't until well after 10am that I got a run. A 10lb mono hooklength obviously made tench bites less likely. It fought well, even on light carp tackle. Although I was hoping for a winter carp, the sight of that beautiful Tinca on a late December morning was a real thrill. My first tench of the season (I never fish the spring months; I start on 1st June and finish on March 14th). I am now seriously considering fishing deliberately for winter tench with scaled down tackle. There is a second lake there that doesn't have carp any more (due to otters!), but does have good numbers of tench to a decent size. The next mild spell (when the rivers are in flood) will see me revisiting for a winter tench session.
What a lovely comment! There are certain waters where tench are more inclined to feed, or (I suspect) they shoal up together and if you find them you catch them just due to the sheer number of them. A tench campaign sounds like a nice change. 1.25 - 1.75 rods are ideal, and if you keep things on the heavy side (10lb braid or high tech mono hooklengths) you should land any stray carp too. For many years my PB carp was a 36lber, caught on my tench gear! Go for it, and let me know how it goes! - I really should do more too, rather than fishing headbanger carp venues!
The underwater footage kinda shows you why you need an on the drop light rig for roach with the last dropper 12 in away. As usual hemp is best fished a few inches off the deck, similar to punch. Never had a similar session on hemp, everyday is different.
No better way to fish , love waggler fishing for roach ,chub etc
Can't beat them old daiwa rods.
Another great video Tom !!
