You are fishing at like the busiest most shallow spot you could get to. Using plastics. Try bait. Or a spinner. Or retrieving. Lol. Quite the fishing champion arent you. I got my personal best Smallmouth about 600 feet from there. Dont know what a big bluegill looks like either? Bluegill eat better than bass. She must have other talents lol

Touching a trout with dry hands has a high kill rate. Squeezing the shit out of them isn’t good either. Use a net and get your hands wet first. Keep the fish in the water the whole time. Or just eat it, that’s what they’re there for.

I am glad to see you took the little guy fishing with the two of you. My folks did it with myself and sisters starting at that age. I think it will get easier to a point than once he starts walking it should get wild. I do remember parents letting my youngest sister roam a bit and fall in the water under watchful eye. Been 60 years since that happened and I still remember the surprised look on her face learning how cold the water was. Look forward to future adventure’s with the little guy and welcome back.

Nice looking trip. If you guys ever get out near Boardman, or really anywhere between McNary and John Day Dam's on the Columbia you'll find a lot of nice bass. I have had an awful lot of luck with a few basic ingredients, your looking for rocky bottom, rip rap really, you want a drop off to deep water, and a current seam near there, you'll put up 30+ fish days with nothing more than a Rat-L-Trap, squarebill crankbait, or a pop-r on nice calm days.
