Breaking The Wind: Sailing Solo from California to Hawaii
Просмотров 60 тыс.2 года назад
My sailing trip to Honolulu from Sausalito California, Summer 2022. Big shouts out to @samholmessailing, @ChristianWilliamsYachting, @ViceGripGarage, and all the friendly folks at EricsonYachts.org.
Hahaha. Glad to find a fellow sailor with a sense of humor.
That tether feels uncomfortably long. Good trip. You had great weather
So glad I found you! I'm a few years older (51), with a family (2 kids) and a few years behind you on the sailing journey. I'm in my boat as I write this (telework!) and see you've done much of what I'm doing. I'm writing this at 2:35 through the vid so haven't seen what's to come. Love it so far!
I hope 🤞 you have a great time 😅 Mate
Not long winded video, just the right amount of description and key sensations. Tom is certainly not full of himself, although he very well could be. He is very personable. Thank for an entertaining production, Tom! 😊😊😊
Terrific video! Captured me and left me wanting more at the end. The saga ends in Hawaii? Noooo! Very informative in several ways. Terrific guy going through one heck of a midlife crisis. Oh well. Thanks for taking us along and congrats on your very successful journey, Tom! 😊🎉😊
Cool. I would have tried to camp at the bottom for a day or two and then go up but talk is easy and I have not done it so there's that.
The good thing about breaking wind while sailing solo is that nobody is noticing 😊😊😊😊
another great video! do you still sail your boat?
are you doing any more sailing videos? post more if you have them... thanks, nice video
Congrats. It's good for the soul isn't it? It goes by too quickly I think. Well done.
Good questions dude...have fun while you are young I say...
Awesome video I love how you just dive off the boat and check underneath . That’s gotta be surreal to look around at the depths of the ocean
Bro, why did you not put out any other videos? This was gold!
Do you still have the boat? Nice trip to hawaii!
Great vid!
Hilarious comedy, and some great cruising content too! Thanks
Man, so many people. Nightmare. I did r2r2r the next Wednesday and it was much less crowded. You two only looked a little baked at the end so you handled it well. Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Glasses. Out.
Great job gentleman! You guys did it smart, and like a couple of pros, and I hope you celebrate every year with trek in the Canyon.👊 I'm 9 months into my 60s, and I can assure you, what you do in the current decade, will shape how you are in the upcoming decade. I'll celebrate my 61st, mid-Aug, with a R2R run. I was there running another Rim2River, 7 days after you. Video of the run: ruclips.net/video/vhz72W_aZKg/видео.html
Thanks @austinado16 for the kind words! We both trained a good amount. Thanks for sharing your run video - I will definitely check it out.
Pretty sure I heard someone running by you in one the videos. . . Maybe to celebrate 6 decades?? Anyways, you have convinced us. Gorgeous!
Correct @karibrittschroeder8328! We were passed by several small groups running....super impressive
Absolutely gorgeous work and storytelling my friend! Love it 👏👏
Nice story!!
You know? I watched both of those videos you mentioned back when they were first posted. Sam, in particular, has posted many more adventures since then. It has been a great experience watching.
I love Bob you identify as awesome and the next frame is the rainbow flag. Lol.
Thank you
Based on what I did to my old Hunter 40, you spent about 2 times the purchase price of the boat? Maybe 4 times as I forgot how prices increase with boat length.
he comes out of the toilet and goes mad, it's called stir crazy, too much time on your own, I know he is just joking
Great job! Lol, it was fun watching you get less and less polished in your appearance as you get closer to Hawaii! If you still live around the Bay Area, it’d be great to meet you some time.
Well done sir. Educational…great story…. You demonstrated the importance of the 6 P’s… Proper Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Solo and 19 days is a really amazing crossing. Thanks!
If it were me/ it would be a pot of coffee in the morning and several glasses of wine in the evening,
Hey Tom. Thank you ever so much for your hilarious and very inspirational movie of your trip. I just subscribed in the hope of ever getting to follow you in another crazy sailing adventure. Now i will go and loon for a boat to follow suit. Thanks, Dries
I like your try humor. Do you have german ancesters? All the best.
FYI Russia laid out it's reasons on Dec 17 2021 when they offered a deal to avoid the war. Through out history Russia has been invaded and millions of Russians killed by invaders and usually the invasion happens through Ukraine. I wonder what the USA would do if Texas broke away and invited China to have military bases in Texas? Or Russian Nukes in Cuba?
Christian's boat is an Ericson 38
Partly correct. Williams currently has an E38. When he first sailed in 2014 and made the seminal _Alone Together_ video I reference, he had an Ericson 32-3.
@@tomvilhauer The First one of his Videos I saw was in the 38 ( I have the same model 38) Good boats. I like you restoration I have been ongoing restoration . probably will not do as extensive as you did , I have kept the boat up pretty well.
You are funny😂
PB blaster is awesome. I'm looking at an Erickson myself.
Thanks 4 your Videos I love your ship. I´m a sailing musician, would be happy 4 your likes an Abos 2. You can find a *Band on Tour by Boat* Serie on my channel and lots of Music. I´ll be continuing this with my new Boat AVALON, a Commander 31* from Denmark. Your welcome, I´ll be watching you 2. Sail save, Fair winds, love <3 and Peace
This is great. Keep developing your alter ego mariner from the Deep South. I think he’s onto something.
Losing his marbles in that calm lol
I like the mention of all the little projects, great video
I legit LOL’d many times during your video. Great stuff, my man
Watching Christian in 2014 was what got me into sailing. That and Elena from la Vagabond, ha!
Good one. Interesting project and journey. Hilarious bit in the middle there, the funniest I have ever seen on a sailing video.
Nicely done Tom!
Sailors go crazy at sea
Love this Tom from wrexham north Wales
A great introduction....how very true.
Rough cost besides the boat and pre-trip maintenance?
Well done! What about the return leg, did you sail or did you ship the boat back?
And!?
